#πŸ”’ A good way to return progress from requests

I'm trying to call this function to download a file from a GUI class from a totally different file. I was reading about yield and thought I should try to make a loop in the progress bar thread that gets constantly changing values from this function. But I always get values that are outside the byte range I'm dealing with.

Remember to:

  • Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
  • Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
  • Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.

:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.

Essentially
13072032 bytes (real file)
41033728 bytes (apparent result by yielding)

I'd write progress += chunk.size or something like that

#

you cannot be certain that your chunks are the size you requested

oh

I doubt that accounts for the big discrepancy, though

no you were right

#

this is perfect

#

len(chunk) tho

#

it returns the offset or the size of the whole thing after adding the chunk (final value is 13072032)

#

which saves me a bit of calculation

#

man it's been a long night this feels like the culmination of an epiphany

#

thanks a lot dude
