You wouldn't do that by importing main. That will lead to messy mutual recursion that will eventually, potentially crash your program.

random_card is called by card_choice_menu in card_choice.py, which is called by main_menu in main.py. To get back to main, you would just return from the two functions.

It seems kind of hacky having a separate event loop in cards.py though. I don't think that's a common or recommended practice.

It kind of looks like you're using a blocking event loop so you don't need to deal with callbacks.
