🔒 Item isn't being displayed and removed

It takes a list of French and English words into input.txt and formats it into 1.txt and 2.txt, then makes you search, if multiple resuts are found it lists them, if 1 result is found it displays it and removes it from the list, it repeats until the list is empty. Problem is it's really broken, the result/s don't display and if there is 1 result it doesn't get removed.
