Remember to:

  • Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
  • Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
  • Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.

:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.

cant figure it out

#

been trying for an hour

If you're double-clicking it, then it's probably configured to open the .py file with "Python"

#

You need to right click, "open with" and select a text editor

#

Then select "alway use this program to open .py files"

#

@thin elm

thin elm
#

like notepad?

brave lake
#

You won't want to use the built in notepad, but get something like notepad++ or VSCode

#

or pycharm

** Are you double clicking to run it? (I know Meltz said it, but you didn't answer that part)

brave lake
#

yeah good point - are you wanting to edit the file or run the program?

thin elm
#

yeah i double click to open it

#

run the program

brave lake
#

ok forget what i said

#

it is running the program

thin elm
#

its already running it?

brave lake
#

yeah but it completes in half a second or whatever then closes the window

thin elm
#

its happening with 2 files

brave lake
#

so if you want to run it and actually see the output, you need to crack your knuckles and open up command prompt

proper charm
#

(Could also be erroring? Don't remember if windows would close immediately if command not found)
