I git cloned a repository into vscode. Within file1.py, i'm trying to access a function from file2.py
I'm using the following command: from big_folder.folder-2.file2 import function_name

however, i'm getting the error, ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'big_folder'
could someone please help? Thanks so much!

Remember to:

  • Ask your Python question, not if you can ask or if there's an expert who can help.
  • Show a code sample as text (rather than a screenshot) and the error message, if you've got one.
  • Explain what you expect to happen and what actually happens.

:warning: Do not pip install anything that isn't related to your question, especially if asked to over DMs.

you will want to add __init__.py under each directory to treat them each like a package

#

Then i think you should be able to run the file1 module as main like
python -m BIG_FOLDER.folder-1.file1

alright thank you!
