🔒 What is the point of @override?

I wanted to use this decorator to indicate an overriden method in the child class, but I just found out that it doesn't actually do anything. What's the point of using it? Would it be wrong to use it to visually indicate a method is being overriden?

it's in the typing module, so its use is probably to combine it with IDEs/type checkers
kind of like how @typing.overload doesn't actually overload anything, but it does give nice type hints when you do use that function eventually
