Usually programming is paired with some other sort of skill. Maritime knowledge + coding could be a solid combination

You and the thousands of people also trying to get in. I'm not saying don't go for it, but you should have certain expectations

There's also more to game dev programming than actually working on the gameplay itself

so consider one of those secondary options (that are also way higher in demand)

There's been massive layoffs so juniors are now competing for positions against many experienced devs
