Re-read #voice-verification
Attempting to spam to get your message count will make it take even longer for you to get verified
:/
I feel that's fair. We want people to participate in the server, not just spam
okay
And it's easy enough to get the count. Just hang out, have a conversation, check out the topical channels to see if something catches your interest, get or give help in the help channels, etc.
And when we're in the voice chats, we'll be watching the paired text channel
Okay thanks!

👋 hii
How've you been?
i have been ok
had a relaxed summer & starting a new exciting job soon
what about you?
Oh you know, work and home, work and home, rinse and repeat
mmm the usual
it's going to be a lot of python and eventually golang (learning that now) once the project is more stable
but i had to sign a super strict NDA so i cannot say much 😬
thank you 😌

hi
As of 1.14 huh https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Server/Requirements
what is better docker or kubernets
They're different purposes
Doesn't kubernetes run docker images?
Docker is a service that runs containers - yep
Kube manages networks or clusters of containers
so it is mandatory to learn both
?
this is our project , i made it opensource
@dusky nimbus not all indians are scammers, bad people are everywhere
Dooopppleerrrr...
lol
Normally I try to keep a better lid on things
I am sorry for disturbing but I just got here and I don't know what are we doing
import lons```
@dusky nimbus ```bash
sudo update-alternatives --config java
Last time I swallowed my pride I almost choked on a rainbow flag.
I'm stealing that
That's too perfect
@torpid cloud How've you been anyway?
@mild flume Things are pretty good aside from my work. Things are a bit hard because I don't have a compsci background I feel.
What grief is work causing you?
As an aside, made this thing w/ my GF which is just a matrix of assignable LEDs that you can control via python
Oh dude that's cool
chmod u+x filename
this will only add perms for owner ^
I feel like I suck at absorbing a code base and being self sufficient. The code base has c++ (which I have no background in)
Some code I don't understand even if it is just pure python, so i have to ask people how to do things @_@
Ya, but my job is on the line.
I just don't like the struggle. I'm basically a junior programmer who is getting by..by the scrape of their teeth or something.
So here's the thing; you're an investment to them
@misty sinew the reason we're complaining is that we want CurseForge, not some overlay application manager
One of the best things they can do for you is to assist you. Lemon's mentioned this to me plenty of times. It's better to have two programmers helping getting each other unstuck and then back to work rather than two programmers where one is completely stuck
but they are the same application
By you asking questions and learning, you prove that you want to better yourself and become a stronger asset to the team
they legit are integrated with each other.
Imagine if installing different applications required installing their own app store
Um
Programming languages
pip for Python, cargo for Rust, cabal for Haskell
I mean, I basically agree. But there is some thing to be said for being too much of a burden. I don't mind extracting value, but at this time they are I think expecting me to perform with what I've learned. So it's a bit like 🤷
Then why did Kilian have it before install CurseForge?
I'm comparing myself against another co-worker who joined at the same time who knew things about bazel, linux admin stuff, c++, python where I know electronics + python. Except..the electronics part has not been relevant yet.
Fair, but I think there's a difference there with being a programming language and full-on exported applications
It's like if I would need to need to compile all pieces of software myself
That's :////
That's the problem. Don't compare yourself to others. Could there people who are more experienced doing what you're doing? For sure. But they aren't. You are. I know it's hard to ignore that (shit, looking at the staff here compared to me just tears me apart all the time.) But that just means you have that many more resources to learn and improve from
They wouldn't have hired you (and kept you this long) if they thought you were unable to do it.
They expect Junior programmers to be rough. They want them to improve
Yeah, I hope that is the case. But when you get terse meetings being like " Oh, here is what we expect of you and here is how far you need to go." it is demoralizing. I am going to apply to another FAANG job hopefully doing something that is more multi-disciplinary
It just hasn't been a lot of fun 😦
Fair enough. I'm just hunting around
so anyone know a solution
@compact goblet What's your issue again? You were drunk and angry on call
@misty sinew I have no idea what you're saying, can you type it?
i aint saying anything
@mild flume you have a solution 😉
its photoni-bit
hey can u help me with some code?
What code
python
def addition():
while True:
try:
number = int(input("Enter number: "))
number2 = int(input("Enter second number: "))
break
except:
print("Invalid response, please retry")
sum = number + number2
print("Answer: ", sum)
print("Repeat?: ")
con()
def con():
confir=input("Y / N: ").upper()
if confir=="Y":
print("Option accepted")
addition()
elif confir=="N":
print("Option accepted")
return
else:
print("Invalid response, please retry")
con()
addition()```

Perfect
listen to troll
He's legitimately talking about his job experience and frustrations
You came in here just to gripe
Do you know how I can make it so that it keeps looping until an int is said and not a str?
If you want to be here to learn Python and what have you, I'm more than happy to help you around the server
and i legitely said its bs
But do not come to the voice chat and start drunkenly ranting
You will lose your permissions permanently
then i dolnt want voice, i listened 3 dqays before getting access
and all you did was agrue
This
@misty sinew I don't off the top of my head, I'm bouncing between some things here at work
Oh k.
Typically it's easier to ask your question than to try to ask specific people
where's the code?
Brb
The more eyes that see it, the more likely you can get assistance
i'd create a function that tries to convert a string to an int, returning None if it can't. then, you can just run the function in a loop until it returns something that isn't None
Hi guys
Hey, how's it going
🙂
@mild flume you were right yesterday i shouldn't have crammed, it was for naught
(i got accepted in the better uni)
I told ya brother

nice
same here
Must.... not.... giggle....
what is it?
"How's the RUB?" "Did you enjoy your RUB classes?"
RUB is the short form for Ruhr Universität Bochum
i got TUMmy
xD
jhaha
I giggle for the silly stuff
@dusky nimbus What's up?
Maybe?
Just replace the Spigot jar with relevant jar
And other variables or what have you
it's speculative
So you're making 2 bash scripts
yeah where do i put it
Where ever
You just have to run it
So long as it can find the .jar, it should be good to go
I think
I can't at the moment. I still have other stuff to do
Sorry
Also, here's the shit we're dealing with where I live
wow we moved from a minecraft server to covid politics
yes exactly
and thats why german sirens are better than US
cause you hear it coming better
Dude, ours are loud as hell
just FYI, I00% support UwU constitution
God damn it
@mild flume yes i know but thats not all. you need to hear the direction and thats not really possible with your siren in cities
you cant use the doppler effect on american sirens like you can on german
or lights
wait what
Wait it does with light?
do we have doppler effect in gravitational wave?
I guess that makes sense, it's waves
lol why is it better with german sirens?
i can explain it in voice not text
In physics, a redshift is an increase in the wavelength, and corresponding decrease in the frequency and photon energy, of electromagnetic radiation (such as light). The opposite change, a decrease in wavelength and simultaneous increase in frequency and energy, is known as a negative redshift, or blueshift. The terms derive from the colours red...
Thailand lost a cave?
that we need to recover it?
Good game
greenshift is more eco friendly?
the doppler effect is not something you "use" 🤔 ?
What's covid?
Speak for yourself.
@dusky nimbus can you lower the gain on your mic input
What are we calling immoral? The decision or the person?
First one then the other
@long gust What's up?
Isn't capitalism becoming more of a hassle than a solution
can not just us, but computers think of a solution that might work far better
hello
guys talk 1 at a time lol
bruh what's going onn
Discussing my distaste for Musk
Elon specifically
Although the smell of musk is also not great
his existance is the product of capitalism i suppose
ohh cool
Oh for sure
meanwhile i am trying to learn java
Script or Java proper

lets talk about regex
pin it
I wish, I need to wrap and provide typings for all endpoints
I could split each group of endpoints into a Requester each, then do a massive class RESTClient(MessageEndpoints, GuildEndpoints, AuditLogEndpoints, ...)
But.. idk

In Django I have created a custom user model (focused on email). I want to add a new user from the admin dashboard but it doesn't ask me for the user's email
My custom user model
class CustomUser(AbstractBaseUser, PermissionsMixin):
# I am creating a custom user model that extends the AbstractBaseUser class
# so as to add a unique identifier field called email that takes the place of
# username as the unique identifier. We will be overriding all the following
# fields of the AbstractBaseUser class.
# set email field to be unique
email = models.EmailField(
verbose_name='email address', max_length=60, unique=True)
username = models.CharField(max_length=40, unique=True)
# by default, user accounts will not be admin accounts or superusers
# by default, each account will be active (deactivate ~ deleting the account)

verbose_name="last joined", auto_now=True)
# profile image is optional and default image is provided

# email is also required as it is a USERNAME_FIELD

current.next = prev

Hey @quaint olive!
Uh-oh! It looks like your message got zapped by our spam filter. We currently don't allow .txt attachments, so here are some tips to help you travel safely:
• If you attempted to send a message longer than 2000 characters, try shortening your message to fit within the character limit or use a pasting service (see below)
• If you tried to show someone your code, you can use codeblocks
(run !code-blocks in #bot-commands for more information) or use a pasting service like:
!e ```py
class Node:
def init(self, name):
self.name = name
self.prev = None
self.next = None
def __repr__(self):
p = (None if self.prev is None else self.prev.name)
n = (None if self.next is None else self.next.name)
return f"{p} <- *{self.name}* -> {n}"
class LinkedList(list):
def append(self, node):
super().append(node)
try:
self[-2].next = node
self[-1].prev = self[-2]
except IndexError:
pass
my_linked_list = LinkedList()
[my_linked_list.append(Node(c)) for c in "ABCDEF"]
print(my_linked_list)
for node in my_linked_list:
node.next, node.prev = node.prev, node.next
my_linked_list = my_linked_list[::-1]
print(my_linked_list)```
@stuck bluff :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | [None <- *A* -> B, A <- *B* -> C, B <- *C* -> D, C <- *D* -> E, D <- *E* -> F, E <- *F* -> None]
002 | [None <- *F* -> E, F <- *E* -> D, E <- *D* -> C, D <- *C* -> B, C <- *B* -> A, B <- *A* -> None]

i suppose
isnt it a doubly?
but its goood
Oh I don't know. Maybe double. I haven't studied the concept.

Speaking of Django, I have a manyToMany field that links chats with users (participants). The problem though is that in the admin interface, I don't get an option to remove participants and all the participants are added to any new Chat I create.
you will have to add it by yourself
I am not sure I understand... What I mean is that I can't remove / add participants within the admin dashboard

you can just control click
and they will get deselected

Am I allowed to upload a gif here?
yes
Ok one min
This is what happens when I control + click.. it just highlights the participant names. Clicking on the plus button just opens a window to add new participants.. I am thinking that it should have a minus button

The Kakoune text editor takes inspiration from Vi. With a minimalistic interface, short keyboard shortcuts, and separate editing and insert modes, it does look and feel a lot like Vi at first. However, the Kakoune editor has its own unique style both in design and function and is better considered its own editor rather than yet another Vim.
