I think it's fair to say that the Asian = Smart stereotype is utter shit brought about racist media, with it typically being directed to East Asia and East Asian migrants to the US because of their culture around education (with India as an extension, because of the same circumstances).

In the global context of this server, where we have rules and a code of conduct in place to ensure that we're an inclusive space, I understand why we don't want marginalizing statements like that being thrown around, as well as the reaction to it. However, I feel like said reaction somehow only further insinuates the other stereotype that Asian pertains exclusively to East Asia, considering the US-heavy population of the server. I'm a Filipino and while the original statement doesn't really bother me nor does it target me in some way, this does. The effort towards breaking the Asian = Smart stereotype is appreciated, but I think it's also imperative that we educate other people about the latter.

I'm bad at verbalizing my thoughts regarding topics like these and I'm not all too keen with it either, considering I'm an outsider to what I perceive as Western politics. Anyhow, I'm off for dinner.
