I'd like to make the example that snake case is better for areas where you have lots of acronyms. 4G/5G code is one such case where the standardization guys LOVE acronyms on acronyms.
compare:

int pusch_cqi_tx_sinr_tm8_2tx = 100; //snake
Now one might argue such acronyms are bad variable names (and yes they are) but the standard use em and when you develop these things you need to follow the standard otherwise you will have much greater problems than variable naming

That was the case for me as well. Started out with java over 10 years ago and back then camelCase was the standard java followed. I stuck with that up until about 2 years ago when I suddenly realized "Hey this looks awful"
