Not my experience. It was awful for about 2 or maybe 3 days (they did say that some people work the next day, I can't imagine how). For maybe a week or two after that, it was noticeably blurry, but not unmanageably so. I could still use a computer or phone or whatever, but I found my eyes getting tired faster than usual.

granted, different people heal at different rates, YMMV, I'm not a doctor, etc, etc

I think my night vision is a bit worse after LASIK, and my ability to read with low contrast is worse. I was afraid it might make it harder to drive at night, but it hasn't. And honestly I went into it with relatively low expectations - I figured I'd be fine wearing glasses when working, but it'd be nice to not have to wear them when walking around or going out with friends or whatever. I wasn't aiming for perfection

I was in denial for a long time.
I was a huge ally at first. There were signs etc, but I was just telling myself "nah, I'm cis, I'm just gender nonconforming". I was reading about different nonbinary identities for a long time, I also vibed with some labels... But somehow I told myself it couldn't be me. And it seemed it's all far away anyways.
Until I met first openly nonbinary person at my uni.
Then something clicked in my brain and I started questioning seriously.
I was still in denial, but after a long questioning, at some point I did a small experiment. I got myself to refer to myself as nonbinary/non-cis (at first I thought my identity was partially aligned with my agab) vs what if I refer to myself strongly with words associated with my agab.
Like a week of reinforcing "I'm my agab, just gender nonconforming". Then I sat to think. It felt weird talking about myself like that. I called myself non-cis. It felt... better.
Over time I decided to use the internet to explore this part of myself better. I joined some nonbinary groups on Facebook, including Polish ones - I saw it's not actually that rare in Poland, it's just that people don't usually out themselves easily because it's not safe. (Edit: i checked and it seems I first went to a pride event in 2018 where I saw a lot of people with nonbinary flags and such, and only after that I decided to join fb groups)
Inside such groups I was free to explore specific identities, how I felt with different labels. And at some point I realised I really want to try out neuter grammatical gender in Polish (Polish is highly gendered and past nouns plus all adjectives have different forms based on grammatical gender). I loved it. I use it all the time unless it's something official.

So, tl;dr: long way through denial, just discovered what felt "better" (sometimes referred to as gender euphoria - in contrast to gender dysphoria which is when you know certain gendered stuff about you or how you're perceived feels bad) and explored from there.

Fun fact: after I became secure with my identity and detached gendering clothes etc, I actually sometimes present quite stereotypically as my agab, lol. Because clothes won't change my gender and i sometimes enjoy mixing up my presentation :3

If you look at it at dysphoria and not being trans, the category matches - dysphoria is a severe state that may cause further depression, anxiety disorder, or with prolonged dysphoria you may get c-ptsd. Treatment for gender dysphoria is transition.

With the current knowledge about transgender people, that not all trans people are dysphoric and with how the classification made people argue "being trans is mental illness", it was revisited in ICD-11. ICD-11 is already created but not in use (some doctors try to learn new classification already and use both codes if they can!). ICD-11 puts it as "gender incongruence", description/diagnostic criteria don't need the distress of dysphoria, just stable prolonged not feeling like the assigned gender.

I didn't "battle my journey". As a nonbinary person in a country that doesn't even treat binary trans people well, there's not much I can do. My identity doesn't involve constant physical dysphoria and my identity isn't close to binary options, so there's not really a look or body my mind would feel better in. 🤷 I just try to be myself. I just adapted to the country I live in, with highly gendered language and that doesn't even recognise gay marriage, so marriage certificate and the civil marriage are highly gendered as well. (I know because I got married this year. My partner and I have different legal sex markers in our documents, so it was possible.) I adapted by trying to ignore the language/gendered words/constant reminders about my legal sex marker (seriously, changing anything in business registry and it's displayed in caps...) and compensating by being myself when and where I can. I can't be myself in official setting, but I'll fight anyone who tries to trample me in any other setting.

As for non-tangible, finding myself helped me out of my anxiety disorder, I guess?

I can't speak of species-regression, but I know some stuff about age regression (DON'T confuse with "age play" which is sexual kink)

If you ever heard the term of "healing your inner child", sometimes it's more literal with age regression - if done in controlled environment, it can be a safe way to relive the good parts of younger years. It's letting your brain get into younger state of mind. And e.g. play with toys, plushies, draw, watch childhood cartoons... Basically get back into blissful childhood memories.

As long as your mind doesn't force it into this state, it's not unhealthy. It's sometimes recommended as part of therapy for childhood trauma - part of mind is stuck in the good pre-trauma time as part of trying to repress trauma, and it needs to be processed
