well yes
its just another input to the next layer
in this case at least
the only different between it and the other inputs, is that this one is learned via back propagation
as opposed to being part of the training data
this is for this neural network, im not aware of anything that generalizes over this
I think the key difference here is while humans have a wide variety of experiences, senses and knowledge that can be applied in their creative process, genAI models only have whatever was used as their training data. they're purpose-built, while humans aren't
though that brings up the question: does genAI still count as "creativity" because it is, in some way, taking those human experiences and learning about them?
I'll have to think a bit more about that
instructions clear. going to lock some babies up in my basement and only feed them a carefully curated training set. as they do not have general knowledge or a lot of experiences, they are not humans, and so the work I put them to when they grow up is not slavery :p
of course I didn't think of the tiniest nuances, oh no
there's a reason i cross that out (because it's a joke), but it has a grain of truth in that every time I see someone try to propose a definition that draws a clean line between humans and even currently existing AI (much less hypothetical future AI), this definition has loopholes one can drive a truck through.
true, it's really hard (I'd argue impossible) to define it precisely
the real distinction is that a human a mortal, a sizable matrix of parameters is not. /j
If you delete the matrix: is it dead?
it is said that humans die twice, once when they die, and a second time when they are forgotten. Only the second death is applicable to anything digital. /j
One things for sure, AI really is going to bring up a whole lot of moral questions that society isn't ready for
๐
hola soy dora
@dusky turret let's continue the convo here
It started by mocking JavaScript now we've reached deep topics like this xD
do i have ur permision to take the mick out of ur name for lols
Ofc!
you know i like ur name but i dont think u can yield from something that doesnt exist
Excusez-moi?
hello
its all because of u
Hey ๐
just saying
i will never forgive u
woh its js a conversation lol
:0 the drama
xD don't worry mon franรงais est mal (my French is bad) โ I only know a few words
I'm on my phone T-T
sorry lemme fix that error
also HEY are you trying to manipulate me?
TigranBrain.mood = "TouchscreenWarrior"
Noooo........
I think it's better to use a context manager in case an error occurs during the process
touchscreen warrior LOL
Guys, how does your touch-screen handwriting look like?
TigranBrain.endProcess(reason="Why not")
Trigran, like three Tigrans?
no i suck at spelling
Mine looks like this
also i upgraded u
Tigran.upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade()
.upgrade().upgrade().upgrade()
.upgrade()
ooo handwriting...
It's unpythonic to return the same object after executing a method on it!
i thought typing
it's mutable comon
like .reverse on list
by upgrading the upgrade arent u upgrading a new object instead of the original
ooo
wouldnt that waste Tigrans valuable 512kb of ram
u mean mutable types normally dont return themselves
if they operate on themselves
smart
so
tigran is immutable
problem solved
groundbreaking
^
So like you recreate me from scratch then rip my older version apart atom-by-atom?
no
if u mean byte by byte sure
more like having your old self as a base
Indeed, I don't change. Every day of my life is the same and I don't do anything productive. Me being immutable explains everything ๐ฅฒ
u can stay after the upgraded version is ready though
of course the garbage collector will collect the old u eventually
๐ค
I'm scared, does the garbage collector hurt you?
nah it just collects u
dont worry
just collects
thats all
His garbage-collecting tool isn't sharp, is it?
u won't exist afterwards though
then shreds the very information that makes up u as a whole to disperse into the universe
shhhhhhhhhhhhh
its not that u're bad
its that um...
your upgraded version is just um
better
Can we just use C to just memmove the upgraded version into myself?
Ummm well it can utilise 4x as much ram for a start
So about double the IQ
Too lazy
well.. we could
but u know... C
ew
Double of 0 is still 0
Exactly
^
Well ur old model could only utilise 512kb
Now you can use approximately 2000
yea also that
more bytes
just dont give us much trouble and let the garbbage collector collect u
its a pain to have a memory leak
Imagine not knowing powers of two by heart sms my head
dont do it to us
I'm going to hide in the swapfile! YOU WILL NEVER FIND ME, MUAHAHAHAHA! I WILL CAUSE A PAGE FAULT AND THE MEMORY MANAGER WON'T HANDLE IT, WHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Power pf 2 my ass i will put u on a hardrive and hold a mqgnet underneath it
It can't, though. That's not how virtual memory works ๐ค
garbage_collector.upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade().upgrade()
now it can
... โ 512 โ 1024 โ 2048 โ ... it's not that hard sms my head
/j
Damn you know that magnet lookin nice
Also i said apporximately bcs even yo. Upgraded version isnt competent enough to keep up ๐
Ofc im joking...
Or am i
i guess we have no choice
i didn't want to resort to this
oldTigran = Tigran
Tigran = Tigran.upgrade()
del oldTigran
It's del oldTigran sms my head
oh thanks
i want a method to determine the speed
What speed
Speed of light, I guess?
or 4.5x
Ohh you mean like changing it?
Ok 3x10^8
only surroundings
bbut cant 0
0.1 or above
self.opacity = 0 my dream
Just say 3 cm ._.
bad constructing design
that would be imperial measurements.
๐๐ช
well thats fast
Mayne keep the base measurement in milimitres and have a addheight function add height in qhatever measurement u want and do the conversion
It would be cool if Python had support for units
So like `person.addHeight(10, "inches")
oo
So you could do like time.sleep(100ms) instead of time.sleep(0.1)
Variables can't start with numbers anyway so..
a cool feature would be that if u type 100x it is being interpreted as 100 * x
Units better >:(
i mean for every variable
UNITSSSSSS >:((((
we ain't gonna do it for units i'm sorry
what if you did 100xx, would it be a variable called xx or x * x
xx
only if its int
and then variable
or variable and then int
literal int
100ms
1000k
1t
Maybe we can add types for function inputs like thay
So 100 is an int
But 100ms is milliseconds type
Also if you did that some people would do pipi for pi**2 which is UNETHICAL!
no
only literal numbers
12OMG
2O23
2 * O * 23
Oh come on it's only 1 character literally just an asteriskkkkkkkk
ugly
bbad design
garbage collector!
hi im garbage collector how can i help today?
time.sleep(100*ms)
:(
You are mean, and unprogressive, you are a traditionalist, holding everyone back!
..wait, did I just describe C
? no
i'm Modern
Ofc ofc
need to recreate the interpreter
garbage collector! interpreter!
hi, how can i help..
JUST CLEAN
GARBAGE AMCHINE
but my bag is filled with dust, i have no space
?
.>
i'm gonna fire the person who programmed u
u programmed me
DONT ANSWER ME
>>> import gc
>>> from pathlib import Path
>>>
>>> Path(gc.__file__).unlink()
>>> del gc
(And don't tell me gc doesn't have a __file__ attribute!)
gc (garbage collector) is gone now :D
...
Reduced to atoms! :DD
SHHHH
LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE
Garbo? Seriously? ๐
Okay fine..
import heaven
import earth
earth.gc = heaven.gc
del heaven.gc
master
i saw... i was in a tunnel
what
garbo
this guy was the one who deleted u and sent u to heaven @tigeran
It's Tigran not tigeran xD
go get him!
It's my irl name
garbo kills tigraran
Stop misspelling my name please ;-;
It's okay garbo
garbo still mad
It's 3:55 AM what am I doing with my life
๐
u're having a conversation with a garbage collector
i mean...
thats not too insane
tnmumtjse, a metaquestion, what time is it for you over there?
1:56 am
So you're two hours behind me
1 hour and 59 minutes apparently
I guess you're from some European country
Oh alright, people with that timezone I meet are typically from Europe
or its +4 gmt
That's a common thing, don't worry
where's that
It's like inbetween Europe and Asia
oo so u live close to me
It's in the middle of the Black sea and the Caspian sea, north to Iran, south to Georgia, east to Turkey and west to Azerbaijan
Here's a map from google images
I heard of the situation in your country, I hope you, your friends, your relatives and people you know in general are safe
the situation is hard
but we're used to such stuff anyway xD
there's a new war/whatever every year or 2 years
i think in average we experience rockets more than fireworks haha
Yeah but this one is pretty intensive, the others are mostly just minor clashes, no?
sometimes yes sometimes no
i think this is the majorest thing in the last 20 years eprhaps
or since 2006?
actually
probably the hardest war since i was born
i'm 29
Oh wow.. I'm 15, you're almost double my age
You seem much younger, how do you do that?
um... good question, haven't thought about it
but its a compliment i guess so thanks
I, of course, don't mind your age, but fyi I started reading your messages in a different voice in my mind now
well we all imagine stuff
I suspect people assume people are close-ish in age to them by default
That sounds about right
i've had friends who were 30 when i was 16 as well
and i guess its not normal usually
had 13 too
so i dont judge people by their age
(in a trembling voice of a dying man)
I'm actually turning 16 in 7 days but I don't want to because
-
The pandemic had stolen 2 years from our lives and f##ed up our sense of time.
-
I wholeheartedly HATE 16-year-olds
๐
i also meant in real life
not just in pc
No no no, I swear it's not like that
over the internet i guess it's kind of normal
u live in a generator
that u get 2 sht years and 1 good year
and that cycle repeats itself
Do you, non-teenagers, also experience the feeling of looking at yourself from one year ago and kinda finding it cringy?
Please say yes please say yes
Please
i think time goes faster for me than when i was 16 for example
Yeah it's a common thing
It's because you're already used to what's happening around you
Oh thank goodness
The solution is trying out new things but I do know that not everyone has the opportunity to do so
Awesomesome
also as i said though
u might find it weird
but if we talked and had fun
and i'm 29 and u're 15
then perhaps some other guys my age would find it also fun to conv with u
Yeah I find it completely normal tbh
You just have to talk about normal topics (I'm saying this as if we were talking about "normal" topics xD)
bbut if u put them in a spot that u think they're dying people and offer to help them to cross the street
But you get my point
Oh come on, 29 is still not that old
Not even "old"
yea and um
Sure, you might feel TV static in your eyes if you stand up too quickly but that doesn't make you old
hoiw did u know
๐ค
Do you remember yourself at 15?
yea
If you could go back and tell him sth, what'd you tell?
You're the first person whom I saw answering that question that way
But it's a good answer
Wdym by stuff? If you don't mind telling of course
if something is good, or bad
if it happened as i expected it to be
if after i got something i wanted
was it what i needed
xy problem sometimes happens in real life i guess
thanks, you too :)
Thank you :)
Well, I'm somewhat uncertain. But right now I find this programming thing fun and it's my hobby. I'm honestly so grateful I found a hobby which can also be a profession, not many people my age could say the same
i started programming probably at 13
but more serious at like 16 i guess
but u're 10000 levels above how i was at 16 probabbly
Btw, regarding this topic. In every "need" there is also a "want". Technically, you only need food, shelter, and sleep. But I'm definitely sure you consider more things as "needed"
And different people consider different things as actually "needed"
well, i meant needed to solve the problem
Oh I'm not 100% sure but considering there's so many resources nowadays it's definitely much easier to learn and experiment
yea i experimented like a caveman
if u question what are my essentials, i think for me its pretty simple
it might sound naive though
i think i wouldn't wake up in the morning if no one would believe in me, or have a potential need for me
so if i wake up in the morning, i have a purpose
i think those 2 things are all i need
I mean, after stone ages came the bronze age, but after bronze age came the iron age, so I assume it's also going to be much better 10 years later than it is today
Hello
That is actually very reasonable
Wat the fuckoroni are yall on abt
Feeling needed is enough to make you feel like you belong somewhere
we decided that its time
And honestly I kind of feel inferior to those around me often and I hate it :/
Im scared
Idk why
Time 4 wat
Time 4, yes, it is 4:29 AM
Yeah mental health is on the down low 4 me
yea
WHAT
This guy has school tomorrow!
i can understand that
I imagined a dog called Garbo xD
I have school om tiesday cause inset day
xD
I don't even know if it's a typical adolescence thing or an actual problem, but I feel like I miss out on a lot of things
It's kind of complicated, but I'm isolating myself from others and I don't even know why
But the feeling of inferiority also makes me overly perfectionistic, and it helps with programming, so... /j
yea i know this symptom quite well
no joke though xD
I have some fucked.up mental.health issues bcs of my autism it screws up my thougts
Its like an entity whisperinf bad thoughts all day no matter what i do hey wont go away
a lot of people like u
maybe a lot is exaggerating
but i've known some
the sort of people that if i call them stupid
they feel bad about it
I'm a totally different person during a conversation and when I'm alone
And I wish it wasn't that way
u relate to what i typed?
I reรฑate to this on a spirituaรฑ level
My masking means no one knows who i truly am
Actually yeah, when people say something like that to me I can hear them saying that in my mind all day, and I can even point at the exact place where that person said that and with what kind of intonation
So if I had to answer with a y/n I'd say yes
hard for me to know what to do haha
what if i say um
ugly or something
would u get insulted
I would internaรฑise it for about 3 weeks then proceed to remember it 4 yrs later and internalise it again
๐
xD
I mean it's not far from the truth
why u use those weird letters
They use a Spanish keyboard
but lets say u were very "pretty" i dont know how to say it in english
and u'd be called ugly
would u be insulted... try to imagine it
like u'd get mad?
I'm peaceful
I'd "eat the slap" and just feel bad about it
Dang I feel indignity typing out stuff like that..
But it's the truth
is there a difference between ugly and stupid for u
Yeah รฑ is right by l
Im not fluent im js learning
uh
Intimidation technique: รฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรฑรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรรร
Ofc there is
Ugly = below the average standards of physical appearance
Stupid = below average standards of smartness and intelligence
I guess?
in feeling
Ohh
Well I mean.. ugly feels more truthy than stupid even though I'd say I'm both xD
would u feel the same way
I'm not sure honestly, I'd probably be more offended by stupid since stupidity would be more of my fault than ugliness
And honestly I don't even care about my physical look, it isn't really useful to anyone but me
well yea i mean... i think i've got to know people with those properties i dont know if it is the right word to say
People aren't going to remember you for the way you looked (unless you look absolutely terrible like minus infinity type of physical appearance)
But if you're not stupid, you can actually do something to contribute to your surroundings in a good way
i also know a common flaw they usually share
its not a big one
and maybe u dont have it
What's that big flaw?
Stop dragging it aroundddd plsssss I'm dying from curiosity now
when they find something new that's interesting and decide to focus on it
they let go of other stuff they focused on so far
and decide "this is the right thing to do"
Hmm that's interesting
it can get very drastic too xD
Oof sounds rough ๐ฌ
eg one day u decide grades dont matter and knowledge is the most important thing
well... i can't say if u're like this obviously
but its a thing i've seen that repeats itself...
in people that i find with this similar properties or whatever >.>
Yeah I get it.. also stop being overly cautious with your words haha
i dont wanna sound like a reader in the coffee
i dont know haha
i'm in general very cautious anyway
Same :p I noticed how you edited your messages with minor mistakes (e.g. did taught โ did teach), I do that too
if u want i can introduce u to a friend of mine, who also shares the same thoughts as u in my opinion...
he's 20 now i think
haha
Sorry I got a DM
sure
Hmm... I dunno, we could make a gc with the three of us but it'd feel awkward otherwise I think
You know my type.. :P
Ofc you can!
what
now deleted message with a job posting
oh i see
have a great time fenix!
Laptop or desktop
laptops are probably the most practical option for most people
Laptop for work, desktop for any and everything else
They both have their pros and cons, it is entirely subjective
@rough sapphire here
Okay
Learning from C++ helped me a lot on python
Every languages comes with similar basic
Would u say learning a statically typed language as a beginner is better than python ?
yeah
Like how ?
I think what's best for a beginner is the language one clicks in for most.
cus it will help u in understand your programs in terms of memory. Also, statically typed language helps u in catching bugs๐
G'MIC is my first lang, C++ second, and Python third, and C# fourth. I only use Python and G'MIC nowadays though.
rn i'm not getting any examples
Seen people saying programs can be written in different ways and that leads to lots of problems as different devs works on these big projects. Like how to possibly write in the correct way and what does it mean.
Ik these all like so dumb questions lol ๐
I do like how interpretative language can make coding easy just due to flexibility they offer
fun fact now python is slowly becoming static typed
You don't write it the "correct" way. You write it the way that works for what you need now.
There's really no right answers here, all I can tell you is to try a bunch of things and see what you prefer the most.
I recently started using types in python
Experience teaches you how to write it in a way that is flexible and adjustable for what you need later.
With mypy ?
yup
i agree with u
Or to write stuff that is simple enough (and contains tests) such that a rewrite is easy
Yes. This above all else. Write what you need. Don't write for what you don't need. Keep it that simple.
yeah๐
I resisted telling you what I like the most language wise because I feel like hearing more options will give you even more analysis paralysis @rough sapphire
Just start building stuff and let your curiosity guide you ๐
agree. I said him earlier that pick one language and master it
Pick the language that gives you a way to build what your project is. That's how I choose.
Are we talking work or personal projects?
Language/platform are one of the last things we discuss at work. I approach it the same for my personal projects.
Lol anyway say it.
I just feel like python is shit. That's making me not to build stuff on djnago. And since then I'm like reading a lot and asking people about all these.
Idk I just feel like python will die as a backend language like meteor ? Lol
lol, have u heard about Fast API ?
If it's work an additional factor is also how well your colleagues can handle it. I always think about this "what if I dissapear, can my colleagues maintain this?"
Yep read about that and Flask too.
are u senior developer?
This limits my options at work to Python + Typescript which are both fine
Hmm i also uses python + Typescript
Python might die. We can always hope that python2 dies sometime... soon... please.
But it's still a worthy language for the current choice pool.
I have the least years of experience but I do most of the harder technical challenges on my team
I get it. But as a complete beginner companies and startups would prefer only if ik their particular language and I must be the best in it right ?
awesome buddy
Python is not shit, it's a fantastic language for various reasons I could go in to if you want. There's other stacks aside from Django you could use if that's not your thing.
When you work on larger teams (more than 1 person and up) you start to limit available choices based on previous choices.
But Python is still very much used across the fields far and wide.
What I (currently) enjoy writing the most is pure functional Scala but that's not something you can reasonably expect to do at work ๐คท
It still teaches you programming. Even if it isn't the daily driver.
tfw Jane street
Also not really suitable for beginners. I'd say Python is the most suitable language for beginners simply because it has great documentation.
Ironically I feel like the official documentation could use some improvement
Would u say Golang is anyway better than python ?
You mean the official Python tutorial? Or the library docs + API refs?
Most documentation needs improvement if you aren't familiar with it or the author.
"Is X better than Y" is always a matter of personal opinion. You should try both Golang and Python and decide.
What framework would u suggest to learn first in python ?
Does learning one framework help in learning the other ?
Personally I would never write Go in a personal project, I don't think I'd derive any joy from it whatsoever.
If I'm added to a team doing something with Go, sure I'd use it. It's fine.
Don't pick a framework to start. Pick a project and learn what it takes to build that project. That's more valuable than working the learning from the other direction.
the latter
Mmm, a sweet little website driven by Golang templates and htmx.
Fan of htmx conceptually but I'd do it in Python or Scala ๐
Go seems like a very procedural and loud language
I find it enjoyable and fun.
Would u say that Js, python, golang are the best languages for backend ? Can u compare among these too ?
You're missing c# and several others.
I rarely write any comments (unless it's necessary) because my style is that the code should be declarative and the code should convey the intent etc etc
But I can honestly understand why people love Go
Just not for me
Hence why I think they should just try it out and see what they like
Read somewhere it's mostly best for windows related stuff and cool startups are anyway not building on C# and Java ? ๐
C# is widely used
Switching languages is easy. But if you only have very shallow understanding of programming and languages it will be hard.
Yeah but mostly boring companies ? And windows stuff ? Not any new hot startups right ?
I was a C++ pro for 9 years. Switched to python. It was perfectly fine.
My comment was agnostic of the subjective "boring" and "cool" labels.
You use the tool that fits the job.
We hired several people who were "java programmers". It was fine. In fact they were just good programmers.
You don't pick a tool then decide what you'll do with it.
I get it what u guys saying just wanted to learn the best among this as my first one. ๐ ๐
That's not how it works
Makes sense ๐ ๐
It's best to just log off now and just write code
Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.
That has always been a problem with me ngl
Don't be that guy in Spaceballs who is always preparing ;)
It is for most people I think.
The best thing you can do is go make mistakes while learning code. Have fun writing a project and have fun overcoming the mistakes you make. It's a lifelong process that doesn't progress until you start doing it.
Got it! Thanks!
One more doubt
Zipline an autonomous drone company has a career post of senior backend engineer fleet service: communication.
And they have posted the requirements as expertise in python, Go, c++.
And responsibilities include build and own services to comtrol and optimize fleet, work on scaling to control fleet of autonomous zips and work towards improving Microservices architecture.
So for this role do we need to know frameworks like djnago, gokit etc ?
https://www.flyzipline.com/careers/open-roles/5772290003
This is their career page.
Do you love to build? Are you obsessed with the details? Looking for a career that positively impacts the world? See open roles at Zipline.
๐ ๐ญ๐
I miss that show. Gramps was the best.
Same used to watch it everyday when I reach back from school!
And responsibilities include build and own services to comtrol and optimize fleet, work on scaling to control fleet of autonomous zips and work towards improving Microservices architecture.
This is a beefy statement. It's far more than just frameworks and I understand why this is a senior position. There's more than code here. There's architecture, project management and development. Sounds like both software and infrastructure.
If I keep thinking about all that goes into that, I ask myself why this isn't a Staff Engineer position.
Like what exactly we have to code in that position ? It doesn't involve these web development stuff right ?
A Strong Generalist Engineering mindset, ready to dive in and contribute across many facets of Ziplineโs software
"Everything" needed.
Wdym by everything. Like can u list the topics I need to learn what all it includes ?
Expertise in Python, C++, Golang, or other object oriented languages
This speaks to me that someone in HR asked "what languages do you want" and the answer were these three with someone saying "object oriented". xD
Also want to know the same about automobiles and other drones and stuff what exactly do we need to do?
I get it that one needs to know embedded low level for these kinda roles but what's the use of python for this ? For ML related stuff ? But the job role doesn't mentions it ?
I don't know what it would take to do what this company does. "Everything" is quite literally everything. Small scripts to automate deployments, reports, fix-ups, etc. Huge services that power data collect, websites, platforms, and more. There is no summary of what to learn. 9+ years of experience. You aren't afraid of new code and can learn what you need to learn.
Oh ok thanks!
as a complete beginner, you're not gonna get hired as a senior anything, focus on learning towards the end of developing your skills
Looking at job listings in a field that interests you can give you a sense of the kind of work that's out there for a competent programmer, but it's not going to be a road map to developing that competency
Python is an extremely beginner friendly language once you're comfortable utilizing its information resources: primarily, the documentation. the community is an important secondary source of information and knowledge
and of course, you can't forget the abandoned StackOverflow posts from twelve years ago
There's a surprising amount of information to be gleaned from ancient internet arguments in which a bunch of nerds insult each other over the best way to solve a particular problem
just wanted to say
C# and the .NET ecosystem have evolved a lot since 2016
it is mostly cross platform and a joy to write things in
Thanks! Focusing full on python by building some projects!
But startups aren't taking up C# right ? Its mostly used for the old boring companies and for windows stuff ?
maybe, most people still think that C# is windows only
they're stuck in 2013 :P
Maybe lol.
and if you start something new you have other fun alternatives in terms of languages
knowing MS, they likely tried to vendor lock stuff to windows intentionally to push people towards windows
and when it turned out a lot of development stayed or even moved to other platforms, they had to adapt and open up or .NET would die in ignominy
daddy microsoft would never vendor lock the sharp

I think you can achieve the same through text
What vpn do you guys have
I might learn Rust
I've used NordVPN for several years
How I look asking people to try my Rubikโs solver codewars kata
why them
They're based in Switzerland, which has pretty strict laws about data privacy
they frequently have pretty good discounts
and I've read a lot of good reviews
NordVPN operates under the jurisdiction of Panama, as the country has no mandatory data retention laws and does not participate in the Five Eyes or Fourteen Eyes intelligence sharing alliances.
are you thinking of proton?
they are based in ๐จ๐ญ
14 eyes never heard of that
Hi guys, I'm writing a book about the life of a teenager and would like some insight on your guys' life. If anybody is interested to answer 5 short questions DM me!!

Don't worry this is all confidential and your discord tags wont be mentioned in my book. Unless you want it to of course
The youtube account is just as wild
Found a random meme like 5 days ago and was suprised when i saw who uploaded it
Watching a series set in the 60's and 70's.
hi ๐
Can't believe people smoked in hospitals.
ewwww
Makes me wonder what we do today that will be considered crazy in the future
being straight @pulsar heart
Wait wut
lurks
I'm not sure about that. That's like, 25 years from now
Gen Z is a pioneer in gender fluidism
in 25 years baby boomers will be gone
paving a way to sexual renessaince
Those are some pretty wild hypothesis tho
I was more referring to medical stuff
Like, we doing something we all think is innocuous
But ends up being analogous to a doing a cancer stick in the hospital
at some point, pretty much everything
That's true
My bet is on cars
I think cars are a huge mistake
Even in my v small country, not one day goes by without at least one death
in 25 years we will be who the hell is still straight?!
eh only if cities shrink significantly will cars become a Weird Thing
instead of an Essential Thing
also in 25 years computers will be a thing of past
I mean, people don't really choose to be straight or not
Also in 25 years the earth is so 25 years ago
I was in London last year, I was super impressed by the bike infrastructure. I had a much better time biking around then using a car.
And London is huuuge
with the invention of flying saucer
Hopefully
only using electric power flying saucers will be a huge deal
Cycling in london is a death sentence
Didn't have any problems, everyone was very civil
I wonder if a solution for EV batteries exploding will ever be found (other than not using EVs)
Here I'd die if I tried the same thing.
Walking good tho
we wont need planes to travel from one place to another
flying cars will help us navigate long distances
like in the Jetsons
this is how you will dress up in 2050 @tardy rain
In cities we should use bikes, intercity we should use trains and stuff. We shouldn't give sevwral ton vehicles to civilians for the same reason we don't let anyone fly an airplane.
in 2050 we will have vacuum cleaners like that @lament cairn
They do let anyone fly a plane tho
All you need is a license
we already do
remember the vacumm cleaners from 4000 BC? @brazen ingot
i do not no
It's much harder to get one for flying. 16 year olds can pass the drivers license
16 year olds can get a pilots license too, the hard part is paying for it
I'm not too sure about that. Isn't flying a lot more complex ?
Not really, you take lessons just like you do with driving
Theres not really any "real" skill involved that would limit people from getting a license
do you remember the vacuum cleaners from 4000 BC? @pulsar heart
Just money and time
in 2050 there will be Edible hard drives
extend your brain knowledge
sometghing like that
I am gosling
Regardless, my point is that driving in general should be something people specialize in and not something anyone can do. Not that it is ideal or that it would ever be implemented, I just believe the status quo is very bad, you are pretty much guaranteed to get to your 40-50's, your only real concern is not get hit by a car.
I dont drive
Me either
I dont have drivers license
depending on what country you live in, getting a drivers license can be way too easy
or you may not even need a drivers license to drive, as long as you don't get caught
Me either
How old are you guys
or he is not getting any of me
i 17
Im 35
18
Im old
I'm 28
Thanks
If you cant get around yourself youre not an adult
you look like a twink!
smash (no homo)
So I've heard

bruv
bruvvvv

I mean, I personally don't need to. I click some buttons and some dude shows up with my groceries. And I also remote.
hahahahah @spare oriole
that's a take of all times.
I will never be an adult
I've driven short distances with my parents - driving feels scary, I think I'll just use a bike
Its right and you know it
people with mobility disabilities be like:
35 no license sounds wild
The average person isnt disabled lol
and other disabilities as well
Are you american?
I think that the threshold for adulthood is paying taxes.
Which is the only hard thing about adulthood imo
Im gay and yes I am american. Most gays suck at driving @near gull
most people in NYC don't need a license for example, there's lots of cities like that.
bruh.
I think the threshold for adulthood is whatever is defined legally
Still weird tome
you made a blanket statement.
not as bad as women
Its a generalisation, it applies to the general public, not the one exception you came up with
statitically women are better drivers than men
This conversation is becoming weird.
Anyway taxes is too low a bar
yea
not sure ab that
Watch womens f1
I get so nervous about driving
I know plenty of dudes that live in their moms basements
Or whatever its called
I almost had a heart attack the other day when my bf drove me in the snow
to work
I cant handle driving
No women can beat raikkonen ๐
I think driving a car is even lower
Its not about driving a car its about being independent
dont blame you bwoah
That's how it is where Iive ๐
He was the face of Tag Heur when I was in high school
I cant believe he is still racing
thats nuts
Sure, but still, there's people who can get around but are not independent.
most of drivers around his era retired already
His ads are always funny. Im trying to get his haircut lol
Being driven places is not it
damn
Take the bus, walk, bike
Are you Finnish?
Im Finnish too so ๐
In Europe at least infrastructure is good enough to survive without a car if you live in a town or small city
oh nice
Who's driven to places tho ?
why are you still awake
actually i look more like hakkinen young
REALLY?!
I live in uk
I use taxi when I have to and otherwise bike or use the train.
All other stuff I just order.
the UK as well?
Portugal
bus + bike + train is more than enough for me
Yes, land of the bacalhao
Niceeee
Where are you from
I was in wales recently visiting people and it reminded me of how much i hate suburbia
Belgium
Lisbon is gorgeous
BELGIUM CHOCOLATE
@spiral zephyr
and belgian waffle
thanks
america moment
Lmao yes!
Awesome, I was thinking of spending a couple years in a place that has a bike centric culture.
I was telling the gf that it looks exactly like american urban sprawl
hahahahahhaha
Then Dutch speaking Belgium works perfectly
oh not french? @spiral zephyr
They don't bike
lol
you know they planned a big mall and stuff in my area, which would have been based, since there's like no infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of where I live, but decided to cancel that and build more houses instead
The terrain sucks
there's a walmart, and some other grocery stores I suppose.
The north of the country is flat
oh, we also have a kokee tea
french people has this pride that make them refuse to speak English to strangers
which has become everyone's default hangout spot and it's always crowded ๐ฅด
someone's playing AC ๐
(boba store)
Based
but at least I dont pretend that I dont know English
a dunkin/baskin robbin opened up too, my mom got mad at a student working there
I don't think French speaking people refuse, it's just that they don't know
Last week I was on a flight that had some very sus delays going on and I was seated next to French people. I translated everything from Eng -> FR for them because the intercom was Eng only
so she went in there to buy a banana split, and the guy confidently tells her there's no more bananas, with like, a bunch of bananas literally right behind him
Europeans not knowing english? Doubtful
As a European I can tell you this is very true
Strange
Yes us finns are most english speak country which country 1st language not english
My SO did an internship in Canada (Quebec) and had 3 roomates, 2 from France and 1 from Belgium (French speaking) and none of them spoke a lick of English
If you know what i mean
Unfortunate situation
its cuz they dont wanna learn @tardy rain
It's because they're with enough / their language is big enough to stay in a language bubble, just like English speaking countries
I dont think french is a big enough bubble to do that
As someone living in a nominally French speaking country
It is
They dub everything
Oh well, theyre only limiting themselves really
We should make Europe a federated country and make Dublin the capital. Conquer the UK and assimilate Russia
dublin ๐คฃ full of old leprechauns drinking guiness
short people
Four leaf clovers and guinness?
yep
I chose Dublin cuz Italy France and Germany already had their turn with empire building the continent.
Switzerland has to be the obvious choice
so geneva?
It is, but not part of the EU
Brussels ๐
eu isnt europe
switzerland is much better/more important
Right but it wouldn't be realistic for countries outside the EU to form into the federation
Land locked countries need not apply
Not that the scenario is realistic anyway
yeah it would
well some
like switzerland
Didn't Switzerland have a referendum about this ? B4 the UK had the idea
And uk
I dont think it has ever been apart of eu
Right, but they are a direct democracy and when it came to choose if they would enter the EU people voted no
EU is very regulation heavy, would hurt their economy. Something like that
true and they already have good trade
so no point
And it would affect their banking industry
Regulations
Wouldn't mind moving to Switzerland. Objectively beautiful country. The landscapes look amazing.
Definitely
fractal broccoli
uwu
ooooo pretty
We making it out of the complex plane with this one ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
What shape is that
Shape of my heart bro
lol
Feds convincing pydis users that world outside of discord exists
those liars
Why? There isn't a case for choice anymore. We know that some are born that way, and some who do experience shifts out of their control. I was not born asexual as in my sexuality is in the graveyard more than a decade ago. A choice it was not, it just happened, no explanation can be found.
