Okay so as with everything in Linux an executible is just a file format. The file format contains a header with information about what system (x86 ect) the executable was written for. Then the rest of the file format maps the contents of the program into memory and moves the entry point from the header to the place in memory where the content is. If you don't have a static binary (you need libraries etc not in the binary) then you have to also link the things you need into memory.
