So, one of the fun things I'm learning with HTMX is that I've written APIs wrong for a long time. With a json driven API I'd pack all the complexity into the payload, handling all the logic as needed.
With HTML REST it's just:
Need a table row?
GET /row/{id}
Need to edit that row?
GET /row/{id}/edit - to get the edit form
PUT /row/{id} - on submission of the form
Need to create a row?
POST /row

Everything is so.... tiny and straight forward.

I was pondering that. I would, I think, have a GET /rows which would take a json payload defining which rows, how many, etc. There wouldn't be a GET /row/{id}/edit returning just the edit form because that would all be client-side elements and hooks.
Posts would be the same, though the json payload would likely support batch operations and single operations in one.

I think I put too much into a single endpoint in my previous work.

That and HTMX is forcing me to think about how to do all of this with low/no client-side logic.

When Github copilot was first released I thought that it was kind of a boilerplate thing, also chatGPT isn't very reliable on giving answers on problems. Engineering in general needs humans, because it requires creativity and innovation. AIs just don't have that, unless you somehow manage to give them sapience in which case we have bigger problems

i've never used copilot and i don't think i would use it for more than generating data structures with mock data for the purpose of testing. that isn't worth the 10 bucks per month or whatever
