yo mama
L @zenith radish
#modcheck?
wow @quasi condor really gonna say that about me???
@quasi condor i apologize. I only asked that because you made really good points and seem attractive
hey what about me
i have a friend whos looking for someone and theyre very nice and i think youd make a great match
id make rlly good points too if i was in vc
then join vc ik you would 😄
i agree
@sour imp i think thats a really good point. has happened to me unfortunatley more than i wish it had
showed my colleague something i did and they were just being too much
@whole bear you are most definitely one attractive looking man
Please stop whatever this is
stop what
youre not in voice chat you dont know the context
i dont c whats wrong with complementing people
Wonoki
exactly
and this dudes talking like hes in vc he doesnt even know whats happening
lowkey lifted my day fr brought a smile to my face after long stressful work day
hes funny
yall going to get banned/muted
@whole bear thats a good one 🤣
i get im pinging too much but what did anyone else do?
dont think anyone else deserves anything
you were asked to stop
"This dude" is reading a text chat, that is also trying to moderate an online community. Making a comment like that doesn't have a place here as far as I can tell.
😭dont ban me
yo mb i dont think i was told earlier. However, now that I am being told, I will!!
i mean i dont think im wrong
Take it to dm then dont push the issue come on
man becomes a mod and thinks hes gonna get instant respect
?
yeah youre right. im actually sorry
I will be better!
we really do need to address cultural issues
@ebon isle you got any opinion on this?
people play dumb for their advantage
egos
etc. kill the vibe
Leggo my ego
@whole bear Please be respectful to our staff and users. Don't creepily flirt/hit on other users. Also note that we can indeed see deleted messages. Review our #rules and #code-of-conduct to get a better idea of what we expect from our users.
xdddd
apologies my brother i was not aware I could not dm a mod in order to inform them about an issue. However, they informed how to file my complaint
That's not the issue I'm talking about
you sure know a lot about flirting
ly2 lol
If I respond to this are you going to edit it again?
hehehe try me big boy
Insulting staff isn't really going to do you any favors either. I'm asking politely.
just chatting 😦
you are correct. If I disagreed with what you said I should have said it politely.
that was wrong of me and i am sorry
ill unsend my message
How would you....
I have a program that lets you add a "post processing script"
Problem is, it starts the script after every step, so it runs multiple copies, which conflict and error
I need it to run at the end, but I can't tell which time is the last time.
It shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to process everything.
Could I just let the script log the completion in, say, Redis, and process it after it's been there for an arbitrary "long enough" time?
Should I go find Rabbit and make him teach me about messaging queues?
Vaproxen
Why Go is Bad?
I don't like it
Vaproxen I believe is in the class of ibuprofen.
Just like that? 😆
And obviously my opinion is the most important
Sure it's mister Sh
i say rust is gr8 but the match / result enums in it are more of a pain to work with than working with object oriented languages like Java and C#
srry i was late there xD
I don't mind result
I didn't Rust much, but match/result looks kinda nice
idk about looking nice or works better i'm just saying it is a pain
i know function to run i know it will work
just give me result
What's wrong?
Oh
Nice pfp Marshall
Reminds me of an anime I used to watch back in the day
What's (pfp)?
Profile picture
Picture profile
Result = return_value OR error
Option = return_value OR null
There could have just been one thing that lets you have one of two things
It's Violet Evergarden
If I'm not mistaken, it is purple everbackyard
Oh
Mb
Oh
can anyone help my python exam
no
pliz
I don't recall this teeny-tiny details
But it's a nicely drawn anime
The story is also great
!rule 8
8. Do not help with ongoing exams. When helping with homework, help people learn how to do the assignment without doing it for them.
In the face?
Yeah it reminded me alot of the anime attack on titan
No help with exams
Because they both have such nice animation
The (Mappa) version was not up to the (WIT) version
Go to help channels
Not if it's an exam, Marshall
man i dont know how exams happen there but here my exam is gonna be tomorrow and i'm looking for a person that can teach my python
OK Hem
i dont want you to do the exam
So this is the exam itself or just prep
just prep
Gotcha. I mean do you have specific questions?
We will not help this way
The best thing I can do then is point you to some of our resources. In this case, I'd recommend A Byte of Python. I'll link it to you
i dont understand anything form else or elif
!resource
The Resources page on our website contains a list of hand-selected learning resources that we regularly recommend to both beginners and experts.
And then if you end up needing clarification after that, we'll be able to help guide you. It's just hard to know where to start helping in situations like this
i'm thinking that it's all about my teacher he is very bad about this
i just ask him selenium and he said i dont know what is this
you'll gonna ask me that how i know selenium
Not really
my friend told me
It's a common enough tool for web scraping, comes up a lot
dont he should know it
That's sad
Then work hard
But someone who's only teaching might not know it or need to know it
If they don't do scraping or website testing
bro i dont need python i should get high mark because it'll affect my biggest exam
in turkey there is a university exam
I hate to ask, but is this a case of it was taught and you didn't pay attention?
in 9,10,11,12th class you got education from all lessons
and the university exam asks all about 9,
10,11,12
and this python exam just affects my biggest exam
Sure, but if it's that huge of a chunk then I'm surprised that they didn't cover this better
hemlock you really dont know about students in turkey
That's fair
we are gettin very hard educations because our educaiton system sucks
you can research about education system in turkey
vim is better
Fair enough. But honestly at this point, the more time you spend talking about this the less time you're spending prepping
i give up about studying because i have biology exam at same day and i'm studying already there is a book open in front of me and im reading it
and what is fair enough
Fair enough means... "I understand where you're coming from, and don't really have a comment about it."
Not sure if that's a good translation
Or wait
Did you just mean what did I "fair enough" to
Sorry, I'm very tired
Go to bed
i understand i thought you said like we have same facility
You need your rest if we're going to win pyweek
whens the next one next year?
@zenith radish do you have git installed in windows?
Dude I can't do jack until at least April 18th
Starts in 17.1248 hours
windows git install comes with a copy of vim you just need to add it to path
winget install Vim.Vim

depends on what you want to do.
If it is write Android apps, then yes.
If it is anything else, there may be something better for what you want to do.
oh, ok
Even then, Kotlin is a better idea in my opinion. It's the official recommendation from Google iirc
btw for the thing about go being more performant than C#, this is a source that seems to confirm that https://benchmarksgame-team.pages.debian.net/benchmarksgame/performance/simple.html

Also why don't data companies use Julia? It's so fast
something like 15k times faster than matlab
Julia does get used for some scientific computing, generally operating over matrices or vectors. Apparently until recently the data frame API was immature
Super interesting language though - I'd jump at the chance to use it

I have a new hyperfixation
I want to make the most optimal input method for the lithuanian language
The standard way is so fucking stupid
All of the letters on the number row could be input idiomatically

And a diacritic
I made this and realised that Lithuanian doesn't use the letters Q, W and X
I'm gonna make a heat map for lithuanian and create a whole new input method
Surprisingly enough Lithuanian works with qwerty better than english

Wait so HTML5 just isnt worth learning or is it just like only for the basics
this is what im doing at the moment
basically
ya im still learning the fundamentals
Is it better if I did

i mean, it's good for backend like spotify uses it, but i guess the speed of it and it's high level isn't very appealing
@woeful salmondont let lp see that 😛
Nope, Python is generally a glue language

except when it is

i think most people dont choose it bc of gil.. but easy to overcome with a little more work.

@rugged tundra yea...i don't think this tutorial iny ay good. when creating a foreign key, it assigns the same name to the FK as PK. if the name of the foreign key = name of the parent key, the table is not created in sqlite3
In this video, we cover creating a one-to-many relationship between two tables in a database and how we can make use of that relationship once we've done that.
Make sure to watch the first part before tackling this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ5Ldd-5HtI
Link to code:
https://replit.com/@AmithRavindar/SQL-Example-OnetoMany
00:00 - In...
@rugged root yes. so, if table A has a primary key and table B has a foreign key that references the primary key from table A and the title/name of Parent Key === Foreign Key, then the table with foreign key is not created
That.... doesn't feel right
don't know ... just learning this stuff 🤷
thank you!
@rugged root here is a simplified version of the code to illustrate my point
c.execute("""CREATE TABLE parent_table ( /* parent table*/
strat_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, /* pk */
param_text TEXT,
)""")
c.execute("""CREATE TABLE child_table ( /* child */
input_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, /* pk */
param_text_two TEXT,
strat_id INTEGER
FOREIGN KEY(strat_id) REFERENCES outputs(output_id) /* fk */
)""")
so, in my experience, the DB will get created, but parent_table has strat_id as PK and the child table has child_table as FK, the child_table won't get created
anyways, back to figuring this applepie out
Mmm... apple pie....
So in theory something like:
CREATE TABLE "Parent" (
"parent_id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,
"name" TEXT NOT NULL
);
CREATE TABLE "Child" (
"id" INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT,
"name" TEXT NOT NULL,
"parent_id" INTEGER NOT NULL REFERENCES "Parent" ("parent_id") ON DELETE CASCADE
);
CREATE INDEX "idx_child__parent_id" ON "Child" ("parent_id")
```Should fail?
Or at least fail to make the Child table
Dammit snekbox
!eval
import sqlite3
connection = sqlite3.connect(":memory:")
cursor = connection.cursor()
cursor.execute("""
CREATE TABLE parent_table ( /* parent table*/
strat_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, /* pk */
param_text TEXT
)
""")
cursor.execute("""
CREATE TABLE child_table ( /* child */
input_id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, /* pk */
param_text_two TEXT,
strat_id INTEGER,
FOREIGN KEY(strat_id) REFERENCES outputs(output_id) /* fk */
)
""")
cursor.execute("""
INSERT INTO parent_table (param_text) VALUES ('one'), ('two'), ('three')
""")
cursor.execute("""
INSERT INTO child_table (param_text_two, strat_id) VALUES ('one', 1), ('two', 2), ('three', 3)
""")
print(cursor.execute("SELECT * FROM child_table").fetchall())
@sweet lodge :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
[(1, 'one', 1), (2, 'two', 2), (3, 'three', 3)]
i don't understand "ON DELETE" and "CASCADE"
i also don't know what: "
CREATE INDEX "idx_child__parent_id" ON "Child" ("parent_id")" does
CoPilot wrote those inserts for me
I didn't have to lookup the SQLITE syntax
Essentially all it does is, if the parent instance is deleted, it will cascade and remove any relevant children
If memory serves
It's very helpful sometimes
alright, i will re-run the code, see if it failed to create parent table, and post the actual code here in a sec
Interesting that FOREIGN KEY is a keyword in SQLite
In PostgreSQL it's part of the column definition
CREATE TABLE `parent` (
`parent_id` INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT,
`name` VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL
);
CREATE TABLE `child` (
`id` INTEGER PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT,
`name` VARCHAR(255) NOT NULL,
`parent_id` INTEGER NOT NULL
);
CREATE INDEX `idx_child__parent_id` ON `child` (`parent_id`);
ALTER TABLE `child` ADD CONSTRAINT `fk_child__parent_id` FOREIGN KEY (`parent_id`) REFERENCES `parent` (`parent_id`) ON DELETE CASCADE
Hello everyone
Ah
Yeah, FOREIGN is reserved by everyone
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/sql-keywords-appendix.html
alright, never the pie mind
i am not sure why that didn't work 3 times before, but now it does
i named parent key === foreign key, and i got 3 tables
Weird
Your mic was stuck open and all we heard was fan noise and incredibly loud typing
well well. sorry about that.
Hey! That's cheating
I don't think helpers require it either
Can someone explain this to me why this makes everything to a new line and removes "" and brackets?
print(*list, sep = "\n")```
"We're inviting you to the secret service"
Hell yeah lets go
wqhat
it doesn't remove anything, it's just passing the values to print, and telling print to use \n as the separator.
@shut hill :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | hello
002 | groceries
003 | Bounjour
list = ["hello", "groceries", "Bounjour"]
print(*list, sep = "\n")
- expands so it translates as:
print("hello", "groceries", "Bounjour", sep = "\n")
!e
print(list, sep = "\n")```
@shut hill :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
['hello', 'groceries', 'Bounjour']
yeah, * expands,. if you drop the * it's only 1 thing passed to print.
variable unpacking
@shut hill :x: Your eval job has completed with return code 1.
001 | Traceback (most recent call last):
002 | File "<string>", line 2, in <module>
003 | NameError: name 'ist' is not defined. Did you mean: 'list'?
oops
not ist
list not ist
!e
list = ["hello"]
print(list, sep = "\n")```
@shut hill :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
['hello']
also, I recommend to avoid using list as your variable name
see
yes
!e
list = ["hello"]
print(*ilst, sep = "\n")```
@shut hill :x: Your eval job has completed with return code 1.
001 | Traceback (most recent call last):
002 | File "<string>", line 2, in <module>
003 | NameError: name 'ilst' is not defined
no
ops
okay
!e compare:
shplist = ["hello", "groceries", "Bounjour"]
newlist = [ 'one', shplist ]
print( newlist )
print('vs')
shplist = ["hello", "groceries", "Bounjour"]
newlist = [ 'one', *shplist ]
print( newlist )
built-ins *
@fair wind :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | ['one', ['hello', 'groceries', 'Bounjour']]
002 | vs
003 | ['one', 'hello', 'groceries', 'Bounjour']
yes sorry
what?
its the same thing but extra bracket?
The first one is a list of two entries:
a str and a list
the second one is a list of four entries, all strs
the brackets are just a pretty view for humans to show that the data is in a list.
but i am trying to remove it
If you are just outputting a str, it will show the string normally
if you want to print each item in a list, and not the list itself, use '*' like you did, or use a for loop.
then would
(*___, sep="\n") work
like nhow
can u show me
like lemme show you my code one second
amount = []
letters = []
decoded = []
for i in range(0, n):
line = input().split(" ")
num = int(line[0])
amount.append(num)
letter = line[1]
letters.append(letter)
for i in range(0, n):
decoded.append(amount[i]*letters[i])
print(*decoded, sep="\n")```
so when this finishes it moves to the end of the function but if i had it as only print(decoded)
then it will be lists only
ok, so this really isn't a help channel, and we're straying off topic? does voice chat have a topic?
but this feels like it should be in a help channel. #❓|how-to-get-help or in pygen #python-discussion
-_-
likely a help channel.
ur not even in the call xelf ;-;
I just need a little help
justr wanted to clarigy some stuff
I got put here from voice chat as a timeout for typing too loud.
They were trying to help point this out for you, then realized that it is the wrong channel for it ... which I do sometimes as well
🙂
typing too loud? english?
Were you screaming lol in the chat?
They = xelf
you = raif7861
keyboard typing sounds
so thats in mic
some keyboards literally are loud
And not all platforms running Discord support "Noise Suppression powered by Krisp"
You'd be hearing the hum of my cooling fan thing under my laptop if not for it.
but im so lost i never even talk in discord im always typing
i was just trying to get some help and now its turning into a confusion?
ok
print(end='\x001b[H\x001b[J', flush=True)
<ESC>[<LINE>;<COLUMN>H
print(end='', flush=True)
funny thing is I'm using a microsoft "whisper quiet" keyboard, it just happened to be RIGHT NEXT to my mic.
Well, would be horrible if it was a keyboard-with-a-mic
yo guys
price2 = int(input("Enter number 1: "))
price3 = int(input("Enter number 1: "))```
if i take 3 inputs, how do i put them into a list
???
like if i input 1 2 3
how do i put it like ["1", "2", "3"]
Can someone help?
Do you want to be spoon fed the answers, or do you want to actually try to learn on your own? @shut hill
@amber raptor - @olive hedge answered your question about cost per flight hour
~$120 per hour to fly, not for training haha
👍
He was talking to someone else that was wanting to become a pilot
And he said "someone ask Fisher"
So I asked Fisher
So for 25 real flight hours I get 1000s of fake flight hours
I can’t fly real F-18s
Fake IDs are like $200
Show the guard your ID, walk into the hanger, get in the F-18, and go
Ez
Yet
I'm too old to ever have a chance to fly F-18s
Can someone teach me the request library by any chance?
use crate::bios::{BIOS, BIOS_START}
@wind raptor I think I figured it out it, i still feel like there is a way to make it shorter though: ``` n = [1,9,8,6,5,4,7,3,1,2,6]
n2 = sorted(n)
n3=[]
for i in range(0,len(n2)-1):
if n2[i] % 2 == 1:
n3.append(n2[i])
print(n3)
elif n2[i] % 2 == 0:
n3.append(n[i])
print(n3)
else:
print('no')
nevermind that's not it
okay here it is i had my lists mixed up : n = [1,9,8,6,5,4,7,3,1,2,6] n2 = sorted(n) n3=[] for i in range(0,len(n2)-1): if n[i] % 2 == 1: n3.append(n2[i]) print(n3) elif n[i] % 2 == 0: n3.append(n[i]) print(n[i]) print(n3) else: print('no') the print statements are me checking things and how it works
Hey @normal goblet nice!
