That's a reactionary measure, not preventative. My thoughts on the matter are, the amount of time and messages that it requires are a drop in the bucket if you plan to be on the server for a while. Also, if we're in VC, we're almost always going to be watching the text channel of the same name. That way people aren't left out of the conversation and it helps reach the message count.
