I realised i was chatting in the wrong channel
@zenith radish I refuse to unwrap my option in rust
let suffix = match day_num.chars().last() {
Some('1') => "st",
Some('2') => "nd",
Some('3') => "rd",
_ => "th",
};
rust is sad javascript
with open("Day_2_input.txt") as file:
data: list[str] = [line.strip() for line in file.readlines()]
position: int = 5
combo: list[int] = []
for line in data:
for char in line:
match char:
case 'U' if position not in (1, 2, 3):
position -= 3
case 'D' if position not in (7, 8, 9):
position += 3
case 'L' if position not in (1, 4, 7):
position -= 1
case 'R' if position not in (3, 6, 9):
position += 1
combo.append(position)
print(*combo)
What are we doing?
gosh

how is it even placed
how do you even place it
okay thats eco friendly @zenith radish
Agreed @rugged root

should I go vegan?
๐
Entirely up to you
But if you do go vegan, there are a lot of nutritional things you have to consider and prepare for
yeah
im in a dilemma
I don't even think I can resist temptation
@quasi condor I have the same experience
Oh gosh
i love cheese
oh no
Same @quasi condor
is it worth going vegan ?
yeah @rugged root
what's pescatarian ?
fish only right
i dont even know if i spelled that right
fish is the only meat you can eat

The Church of Satan is based in the US right?
Flask isn't for production right
one of the guys from our tech team is recommending us to make a move to Golang
I work in a FinTech startup as well
Flask CAN be for production, but it doesn't scale that well
Small and medium scale it can be great
And its plugins can help you customize the fuck out of it
Are ORMs common outside of Python?
Haven't really poked around
phoenix hhh
I remember asking my dev friend whether he was familiar with SQL, and he says he prefers using ORM. Codes in Ruby on Rails
just use css
Hmm. But in those cases it's still dynamically typed, right?

You would probably need AI-only roads right now
Carpool lanes
But even those are going to be abused and you're likely to have ass hats pulling into it, potentially causing an issue
mmm
Hey guys, who can give me an easy exercise?
What kind?
I' m new to python
Like any particular thing you're needing to focus on
https://automatetheboringstuff.com/
seriously
?
it's a free book available via that website
!resources So I'd suggest either what Vin is linking or A Byte of Pythong
The Resources page on our website contains a list of hand-selected learning resources that we regularly recommend to both beginners and experts.
Both of which are listed on our resources page
first few chapters go through these
it's great for beginners
A Byte of Python is closer to class taught style. Automate is good for showing practical uses of Python
Both are really good
And of course, if you end up needing help understanding a concept or you're just kind of stuck, you can always ask questions here
I should go check out A Byte of Python!
It's solid
How about self-driving buses(?)
That's even more terrifying
Pilot program idea: city equips all buses with data-collection capabilities, trains bus drivers to drive in a specific way, trains a model to drive buses based on data collected
A loooooooot more metal that's going to have to calculate braking much sooner
set speed limits
real slow hahaha
manageable speeds since it's public transportation
you would probably need regulation and enforcement to solve this part
Of course
> 16:55
> Do you have a moment to talk?
HA
hahahahaha
Visas for US are hard to get.
For all the bitching about immigration in the US we have, visas are harder then you think.
True
hahahahaha
true that Charlie
that's cause you guys are talking about the US
hahahahaha
hellloo im back
you can't really make a blanket statement like all CEOs from X industry are evil
Of course
Profit at the cost of employee wages and welfare, at least in my eyes
so like where's the line
Unable to pay their bills and not proper health insurance
But again, this is just my thoughts
at a macro level, I think it's easy to point to industries that have very significant net negative impacts on society
Multi-billion dollar corps shouldn't have employees that are struggling to get by
and I'd describe those as evil
as someone from a developing country, this is funny to me
but that's not necessarily the same thing as the CEO being evil
or as the CEO mistreating the employees
Yeah I know
It's very stilted from being in the US
But I think this should also apply to any folks they employ, well, everywhere
I feel like this is a global issue right? It's just that other countries have legislation that restricts corporations
hahahahahaha
You think they'd be the global world economy if they weren't evil @zenith radish ?
If China stops, the world stops.
Are they not?
dont forget the woman pls
How can I get specific character in string on every line:
I want to get 89 as last 2 characters on every string
So it should only give 2 results

123456712
123456743

If you think democracy is broken, here's an idea: let's replace politicians with randomly selected people. fair isaacson corp?
did you know the US has separate car insurance credit-type scoring?
great news
money is currently inflating at a hilarious rate
so debt is getting less valuable by the day
if you can command more money from a job in the future for the same work, it's easier to pay off a loan
one great reason to use credit cards over debit if you can responsibly is because it's far easier to contest charges or charge back through a credit card
that's the result of a broken set of incentives in the market
you're falling into a fraudulent system if you join
I'll be back later
I buy cars with less money than down payments
could walk away from destroying it with almost 0 regret
and that's not changing soon
because now CDOs and shit are tied up in that debt
worse than that
monumentally huge institutions are banking on the govt having deemed them "too big to fail"
so they're gambling BIG BIG on student loans
no kidding
I can tell you your life's tragectory to an insanely sure error margin with just your zip code
You can take the bar without school I think

nah man, jobs in software already dominated by networking
gotta know the right people
I could grind an axe over it
if this is the best we've got we're not doing amazing
I think you mean "self-learn" (srry for correcting you)
self taught maybe
Yeah, self-learn, self-taught,
the 64,000$ word for it is autodidact apparently
being capable of "autodidactism"
that's a word that I feel like is only used by people studying psych or something
luck is fickle
but everywhere
ever heard of "regression to the mean" ?
is this survivorship bias
Survivorship bias, survival bias or immortal time bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that made it past some selection process and overlooking those that did not, typically because of their lack of visibility. This can lead to some false conclusions in several different ways. It is a form of selection bias.

so does everything that's bad

window.requestAnimationFrame(function () {
'use strict';
console.log("B" + "a" + +"a" + "a");
});
it's when skill meets opportunity
you have to have the necessary requirements and you must posses sufficient cause
it's a philosophical and statistical reasoning problem
Sorry, just bored, hence the random JavaScript.
people love ascribing cause to regression to the mean, a meaningless result of luck and average performaces, and we have strong loss aversion, confirmation bias
choosing is skill
not luck
CIS is way too easy
comp sci teaches you discrete math and microcontroller engineering
yes I mostly taught myself, even though I have a degree
you're right, there's too much application after CS to stop learning
this is one field where entry level is rightfully discounted in the labor market

if I didn't spend $40 to frame my degree and get past HR I would burn it

I don't even want to know how many "non-present devices" I just removed from Win10
Putting those dulcet tones to good use
All I know is that it was repetitive as [BOINK!] and that luckily I'm still able to launch Win10 after accidentally deleting one in use.
What is a "non-present" device?

Like these? I should do something about those at some point...
Artificial Intelligence -- A Modern Approach by Russell and Norvig is an excellent introduction to the field of AI.
Like when you have a USB thumb drive / bluetooth headset / mouse / etc. that is not plugged in at that time.
Some old devices might be reassigned a new device ID upon plugging in again.
Should we hop into DMs to help you with that?
I was doing an AI degree, but I dropped out...
Sure. Or just another channel.
it involves dangerous stuff, so DMs to prevent intrusions / privacy invasion
Okie dokie.
it was an OU degree right? Do you still have the credits?
yes am done with the andrew ng course that course is all theoretical we dont write any piece of code i am right now trying to get better in python but now i want to finally learn the real ai ml stuff that i can code and make but theres no guide to do exactly that.
Ah no, it was at Edinburgh. I was able to transfer most of the credits over to the OU though ๐
ah - fair enough
Edinburgh is an insanely hard university. I know a few people who studied there
The degree I'm doing now is "combined STEM".
and it's honestly insane compared to most other unis I'm aware of
Turned out to be too hard
i am writing down everything you are saying
Or more like I was just extremely disorganised.
Edinburgh, St Andrews, and Oxbridge are 4 unis where the units i've heard of made me feel so absolutely useless
Erm, it was one of the universities that didn't have its AI department defunded after the Lighthill report.
So it's big on AI.
I hadn't heard of the lighthill report til now
I really should go find a book about AI history
There's an interesting debate on Youtube somewhere between Lighthill and John McCarthy.
On the subject of the Lighthill report.
It's interesting if only to see what has and hasn't changed in AI since then.
Historical video about artificial intelligence and how the AI winter came in the 1970s
This is the full video of the Lighthill debate on Artificial Intelligence, organized in 1973 to discuss the advances and limits of artificial intelligence, featuring James Lighthill, Donald Michie, Richard Gregory and John McCarthy.

what is basically a starting point for someone as a beginner like me. There is this book I started reading Artifical intelligence a modern approach by s.j russell. But after a point it was all alien to me. people go to ukraine to study medical
A lot of countries have death penalty though
what is the basic reason for this invasion any idea ?
@gentle flint what is the basic reason for russia invading ukraine ?
Belarus and Ukraine just look like bodyguards
The official one as stated by Russia?
no like in general according to your understanding
why is un not doing anything ?
which are somewhat more accessible than the ones in Siberia
what are they supposed to do
can someone
They'll reaffirm this resolution
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_General_Assembly_Resolution_68/262
have a deep convo with me
and that's all
maybe not let russia invade us a neutral countrys army or forces to stop russia since if russia can do this to ukraine they can do that to anyone am i not right
Hi
no you are not right
Can someone have a deep convo with me so I can get my words up?
Russia is significantly larger than the Ukraine
as an example, Russia can not invade the US
agreed
A country resisting Russia with its military would mean a war between Russia and that country.
That costs both resources and lives.
so basically russia is doing all this to acquire more resources right
they are economically struggling so it could be a good pump for the country
idk
oil and gas prices are going to be affected due to all of this
snowden is still in Russia
He's hardly going to have issues with increased hostility between Russia and the USA
unfortunately that is probably true
snowden was even offered the russian citizenship if i am not wrong

i verified all the variables specific to the script processing were cleared.. I used vsc and monitored the namespaces, then I tried to import the script from another file right, and ran it the sames ways, serial and shuffled, it still does the samething.
iF thats fine
sure
Yes.
u?
For a week of use
the problem could be with your randomisation
Yes I am good thanks
but that seems unlikely
can U plz come in voice chat 1 and help me fixing my script ๐
nope
same
you can use #voice-chat-text-1
good idea
i think ill try to run it in a direct file call with process popopen or something :/
U need at least 50 messages
my guess is that the problem is with some logic you've written rather than with anything fundamental
but, but, but.. that very well could be.. the output should be random sometimes, and it is if i cold start the script, but not while its already running..
@molten pewter do you want to do some more charts tomorrow? Either start working on the website, or just more of stuff similar to what we did before
but when I cold started it through import, it did the same thing.. and it was from a bare script so checking the running variables was easy enough.. they were there, then they werent..
you could try setting a seed for random

Erm, how are you running your app?
In general, you can only do import X if X is in a folder in your sys.path, or if X has already been imported and is cached in sys.modules.
By default, when you run a module, the folder containing the module is added to sys.path.
is main also in your current script?

Here's how to format Python code on Discord:
```py
print('Hello world!')
These are backticks, not quotes. Check this out if you can't find the backtick key.
!paste
Pasting large amounts of code
If your code is too long to fit in a codeblock in discord, you can paste your code here:
https://paste.pythondiscord.com/
After pasting your code, save it by clicking the floppy disk icon in the top right, or by typing ctrl + S. After doing that, the URL should change. Copy the URL and post it here so others can see it.
from .main ?
ontop your settings.py add print(dir())
and see if main already exists?
@vocal coyote this might be easier to sort out in a help channel. See #โ๏ฝhow-to-get-help. In voice you'll tend to get lots of people trying to tell you different things at the same time
!doc faulthandler
New in version 3.3.
This module contains functions to dump Python tracebacks explicitly, on a fault, after a timeout, or on a user signal. Call faulthandler.enable() to install fault handlers for the SIGSEGV, SIGFPE, SIGABRT, SIGBUS, and SIGILL signals. You can also enable them at startup by setting the PYTHONFAULTHANDLER environment variable or by using the -X faulthandler command line option.
The fault handler is compatible with system fault handlers like Apport or the Windows fault handler. The module uses an alternative stack for signal handlers if the sigaltstack() function is available. This allows it to dump the traceback even on a stack overflow.
sys.excepthook(type, value, traceback)```
This function prints out a given traceback and exception to `sys.stderr`.
When an exception is raised and uncaught, the interpreter calls `sys.excepthook` with three arguments, the exception class, exception instance, and a traceback object. In an interactive session this happens just before control is returned to the prompt; in a Python program this happens just before the program exits. The handling of such top-level exceptions can be customized by assigning another three-argument function to `sys.excepthook`.
Dude I need to get on with learning about Rust
Do it!
And like a million other things.
!eval [code]
Can also use: e
*Run Python code and get the results.
This command supports multiple lines of code, including code wrapped inside a formatted code block. Code can be re-evaluated by editing the original message within 10 seconds and clicking the reaction that subsequently appears.
We've done our best to make this sandboxed, but do let us know if you manage to find an issue with it!*
