you'd be surprised what takes up resources just by coding normally
wdym ?
i only have these
but i'm gonna remove some stuff
The last one seems expensive
AI assisted development, sounds like it's running a model on your local machine
it's like normal vsc tho
yes, but it uses a machine learning model to assist your development
just because it says Visual Studio on it doesn't mean it doesn't use resources
and anything AI related is likely to use quite a lot of resources, comparatively
i didn't mean that lmao
Ah right, must have misunderstood your comment then
but that would be my first thing to disable if you're having resourcing issues

sum is actually a builtin function, so you shouldn't be creating a variable with the same name, overwriting it.
You have two inputs.
Are you pressing enter twice?
!e py a = sum((1,2)) print(a)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
3
sum(iterable, /, start=0)```
Sums *start* and the items of an *iterable* from left to right and returns the total. The *iterable*โs items are normally numbers, and the start value is not allowed to be a string.
For some use cases, there are good alternatives to [`sum()`](https://docs.python.org/3.10/library/functions.html#sum "sum"). The preferred, fast way to concatenate a sequence of strings is by calling `''.join(sequence)`. To add floating point values with extended precision, see [`math.fsum()`](https://docs.python.org/3.10/library/math.html#math.fsum "math.fsum"). To concatenate a series of iterables, consider using [`itertools.chain()`](https://docs.python.org/3.10/library/itertools.html#itertools.chain "itertools.chain").
Changed in version 3.8: The *start* parameter can be specified as a keyword argument.
Only iterable. Okay.

this is quite easy
they aalready give you rthte formulas

>>> xv,yv = x1-x0, y1-y0
>>> v = -yv, xv #I assume this is right and they don't mean v = -yv, -xv
>>> v
(-2, 2)```
So this is a bit like writing
>>> x0 = 1
>>> y0 = 2```etc
It's called packing and unpacking.

So numpy can store things in n-dimensional arrays.
!e py import numpy as np arr = np.array([1,2,3,4,5]) print(arr.shape) #What "shape" does this array have? print(arr.ndim) #How many dimensions does this array have?
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | (5,)
002 | 1
There we go.
So here, it shows that the first dimension has a size of 5.
It's a tuple, because we might have more than one dimension.
!e py import numpy as np arr = np.array([0,0,0]) for i in range(5): arr += [1,2,3] print(arr)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.

should i use
!e ```py
import numpy as np
import math
def unit_vector(degrees):
radians = math.radians(degrees)
return math.sin(radians), math.cos(radians)
#Imagine we're at point 0,0
position = np.array([0,0], dtype=float)
#We want to travel 100 units
magnitude = 100
#along a heading of 32 degrees
uv = np.array(unit_vector(32), dtype=float)
position += uv * magnitude
print(f"{position = }")```
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
position = array([52.99192642, 84.80480962])
Each element of uv, the unit vector, gets multiplied by the magnitude, 100.
Here, resulting in our final position.
oh mana
so do you think you can help me on the fucntion
im still kinda confusde
haha
lemme take a shot at it
So that's how numpy arrays are handy for positional values.
So you can do this with lists, but there's a bunch of subscription you need to do
Numpy is better.

I'm not going to do your work for you, but I can certainly show you things about Python and ways you can use it that may be relevant to your crafting your own solutions to given problems.
Mhm.
i need to find this anad initialiZe it
A function would be a good thing to use.
You would have to decide how you're going to feed the parameters to the function.
Are they all individual? x0, y0, x1, y1? Or are they p and q?
indiviudal
Ah. Yes.
Okay, so, amending my earlier question.
But you could still form p and q within the function from the function arguments.
e = np.array([a,b])
f = np.array([c,d])
Subtracting the elements of one from the elements of the other becoming rather easy after that.
Have you covered subscription?
Retrieval of an element by its index?
!e py a = [1,2] print(a[0]) a[0] = 3 print(a)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | 1
002 | [3, 2]
Subscription?
Subscription is to refer to an object by its index in an object.
!e print("Apple"[0])
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
A
Index 0 of "Apple" is "A"
P0[1]
Is x0
Point
Oh
Fuck
So obvious
Iโm dumb
Iโm just tired
This makes it easier
!e py a,b = 1,2 a,b = b,a print(a,b)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
2 1
Here's a nifty way to swap things.
Here's another way you can swap things using subscription.
!e py a = [1,2] a[0],a[1] = a[1], a[0] print(a)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
[2, 1]
is the paramer a list
Correct.
Yep.
Well..
this is easy
If they're in a function, they're variables at this point.
Welcome to things clicking.
It's a nice feeling, isn't it?
Python has no true constants.
You can have SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE variables that point to values that you can treat as constants
But it's not enforced.
i think i just havent used my brain in awhile
high school was 1 1/2 years in qurantine
adn now im in college
i particularly need python because i hoep to become a quaant trader

print(PHI)```
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.

waitt
alright now thaat im addign rrays
you kno what
imma do it manuaally
ahha
Because all of the world's problems can be solved using linear regression to predict future events. ๐
exactly
So yeah. As I said. You don't have to use numpy arrays, but once you have a handle on them, they can make your life a little easier for some operations.
i probably should use numpy arrayas but im not to ofamailair
THIS PROBLEM
IS SO EASY
WHAT AM I EVEN DOIN
why is my brain so slow
Once you have the language to apply to the problem, the problem is less of a problem.
problems like these
you can break apart
yeahah
im gonna be here alot more
its fun
Breaking things apart is often a good way to manage all the bits of pieces flying around.
wait
how would i multiply
by aa constant
lets saya i haave corrdiantes
cana i just do .25(x,y)
given x and y aare constaanats
.25*x
will have to do
gotta do it maanually
!e py import numpy as np arr = np.array([1,1], dtype=float) arr /= 4 print(arr)
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
[0.25 0.25]
i dmed you a pic of my code
I won't have got it.
can you look aaat it to see if it would work
screm
I have a preference against that in general.
Otherwise its
xy = [1,1]
xy[0] /= 4
xy[1] /= 4```
Or py xy = [1,1] xy = [v/4 for v in xy]But that can have disadvantages overwriting the list.
I'm using lists, here.
But...yeah.
I was using lists where I was because they're easier to manipulate the elements within them.
Lists are mutable. Tuples are not.
!e py a = [1,2,3] #List b = 1,2,3 #Still a tuple a[0]=4 b[0]=4
@somber heath :x: Your eval job has completed with return code 1.
001 | Traceback (most recent call last):
002 | File "<string>", line 4, in <module>
003 | TypeError: 'tuple' object does not support item assignment
In order to update b, I would have to point b at a new object.
Rather than modify the existing object that it points to.
Which is what I did for a.
I edited the list object in memory, itself, that a points to.
You try that with tuple objects in memory and they complain.
!e ```py
a = [1,2,3]
b = (1,2,3)
aa = a
bb = b
a[0] = 4
b = (3,2,3)
print(a)
print(b)
print(a is aa)
print(b is bb)```
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | [4, 2, 3]
002 | (3, 2, 3)
003 | True
004 | False
a is aa. The list is the same list object as before, even though it's not equal to what it was before.
But for b, the new tuple is not the same tuple as the original
!e ```py
a = []
b = []
c = a
print(a == b) #True. The two lists are equal to one another. They're both empty lists.
print(a is b) #False. But they're not the same list
print(c is a) #True```
@somber heath :white_check_mark: Your eval job has completed with return code 0.
001 | True
002 | False

why not just use mypy or something if you're making an extension
because not possible to execute mypy since not in sdl python 3.8 in sublime
you could do something similar to vs code where you prompt the user to install it in their python environment
