We're just lovers of the language. The only Python we made is our bot, @wise cargo

rugged root
somber heath
#

If you run a whole bunch in flip flops, do you call them marathongs?

hexed wraith
#

if i am also starting to learn C . How difffernt is it from python. (also which is better and more diffcult)

somber heath
#

What's better for building houses? Bricks. What's better for making bricks? Clay. (Or whatever stuff that gets used.)

#

Maybe it's not an apt comparison.

#

Python is built with C.

#

Which makes Python the higher-level language and C the lower.

rugged root
#

I'll start off by saying neither one is better.

Every language has its own strengths and weaknesses. A lot of the more fiddly bits in C (memory management, static typing, etc.) is extrapolated away. Python handles all of that behind the scenes for you, letting you focus on the code, concept, and structure of the project you're working on. You also don't have to take active steps to compile your code. You can just run the script and Python handles that in the background as well. However, all of that extrapolation comes at a cost, and typically Python will run more slowly for certain tasks.

C on the other hand gives you more granularity, letting you work on a very low level to optimize things in ways you just can't in higher level languages. Compiled code will in general run much faster than Python.

The cool thing is that you can use things compiled in C with Python. The numpy library is actually compiled C that's wrapped in Python to make it easier to make and use.

hexed wraith
#

woah

#

can i ask you a question

rugged root
#

Of course

somber heath
#

Well-written Python will run faster than poorly written C.

#

Python is usually adequately zoomy when done right.

hexed wraith

Is Programming really important to learn. cuz my school forces us to learn it and my teacher says that since im young ( i dont consider 17 young ) , I should learn Programming as its the future. But the Problem is that Im really bad at it and i dont have much interest as of now but i have no choice to learn it for the next 3 years as it is a compulsory subject in my school.

pine kestrel
somber heath
#

Is it important for any one person to learn? No. Is it handy? Yes.

pine kestrel
#

cpp/c# are industry standard for that particular reason

rugged root
#

Sure, but in most cases you're not the one creating the engine

somber heath
#

As a general skillset to have in our societal culture, I'd say it's very important. Just not as an individual unless you're doing it as a job or doing important sciency stuff.

rugged root
#

So you don't necessarily need to be programming in something lower level like C or C++

#

Although a good number of those engines do use them

pine kestrel
#

yeah last night i was wondering how i'd go around memory management and just found out that you can't

rugged root
#

The engine is the one that REALLY needs that refinement

pine kestrel
#

understandable since python is giga high level language

rugged root
#

Word

pine kestrel
#

but as long as you cover the basics, you should be good to go since school only teaches the basics

rugged root
#

Learning the basic logic (if this does that then do this otherwise do the other) is fairly helpful in everyday life

#

Lets you break down larger problems in to smaller, more manageable one

hexed wraith
#

but it is extremely hard for me to learn it. My teacher doesn't know what he is doing cuz when im stuck at a qns he just says read the notes. It feels like its a whole new hybrid subject. For Maths or Science i can practice and get the concept but for Programming im lost. I don't even know the basics. The only thing i managed to do alone so far was "Hello World".

hexed wraith
#

really how do books help

pine kestrel
#

they're pretty linear and you can go at your own pace

somber heath
#

The thing with programming is that it's adaptable. It can do all sorts of really cool things. You're going to feel like you're an idiot at first. That's one of the first steps. It's also any number of subsequent ones, but they get less frequent per unit of work.

rugged root

So I'm looking for a time budgeting type app for Teams.

  • It needs to be able to set tasks with an estimated time to complete (so say a particular client payroll takes 30 min and another bookkeeping task takes an hour).

  • It must let us view how much cumulative time a given employee has to take care of with those tasks. Example, Steve has to take care of the payroll and bookkeeping from above, and so it shows he has 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete.

  • It needs an easy way to scoot tasks to the various employees so that the load can be better balanced.

I've hunted around but I can't seem to find any app that fits our needs. Any ideas or suggestions?

!d print

wise cargoBOT
#

print(*objects, sep=' ', end='\n', file=sys.stdout, flush=False)```
Print *objects* to the text stream *file*, separated by *sep* and followed by *end*. *sep*, *end*, *file* and *flush*, if present, must be given as keyword arguments.

All non-keyword arguments are converted to strings like [`str()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#str "str") does and written to the stream, separated by *sep* and followed by *end*. Both *sep* and *end* must be strings; they can also be `None`, which means to use the default values. If no *objects* are given, [`print()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#print "print") will just write *end*.

The *file* argument must be an object with a `write(string)` method; if it is not present or `None`, [`sys.stdout`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/sys.html#sys.stdout "sys.stdout") will be used. Since printed arguments are converted to text strings, [`print()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/functions.html#print "print") cannot be used with binary mode file objects. For these, use `file.write(...)` instead.
