Ok guys can somebody tell me why we need to write git commits in the imperative mood
e.g "add new feature" <-- (this is apparently preferred and correct)instead of "adding new feature" or (what i think makes sense)"added new feature"
as a title doesn't it just reduce the verb conjugation to keep it simple/consistent?
hmm - but usually in a git commit you've already accomplished what you set out to do before committing
so past tense makes sense as the action is already done
π€ but what you are saying makes sense as well
aah then ***instant *** justification
but it's just the 1st line/title that's written in the imperative right? or no
i mean one commit is one sentence/frase
@rose quartz Could you unblock me? I have a singular message to send. No trolling. No jokes. I'm serious.
isn't there a title and body if necessary?
i need an intern lol

this is what I am considering to change
lmao i thought i heard that too xD
what now
jesus.
finish it
No?
you never know if the ones you have marked are right
ok 4 left
Oh you mean his
only if the currently marked ones are right
i would like some coaching tho to get to next level minesweeper lol
they're right >:|
start by reducing bombs, xD
Yeah, the only things I'd change:
- first click should always be on a blank square that reveals multiple numbers to work from, so it should never be a mine or a single number
- blank spaces should be a different color from unmarked spaces
- needs more cowbell
ooh i think i got it
blank spaces are already a diff color, they are lighter than the original ones
π
Ignore me, I'm only half paying attention, unfortunately
F
both
right or left
right one is correct left one is bomb according to me

even better, go for phd
php is amazing for a beginner
π @vivid palm
i'll go for ccnp when I get older
now increase the size and the bombs
click on play
ok idk the proper term
php is good for what it did
but if all the mines for that one section are marked, to clear the boxes surrounding that #
it's usually double click or smth
aah
well php syntax is quite understandable for a beginner but how javascript works for development is exceptional...
will consider that

what you guys think the future of Arduino, I have been learning it since last few days as it is part of my course,
I think it'll keep being an awesome little board for all kinds of hobby projects
Sky's the limit
it will still be used
the issue thing with Arduinos is in cases where Power isn't a concern, Raspberry Pis can be better options just because of their power
yeah!! i also think the same but when we talk about Raspberry Pi things get changed
gotta love robotics ayy @amber raptor
They're kind of different use cases. You can use both for hobby stuff, but a Raspberry Pi is a full fledged computer, just tiny
So there's a lot more maintenance you'd have to do on it compared to making something simple with an Arduino or some other micro controller
yo @fading steeple where can I dm you at?
well just we can built and use different types of sensors and get understand them better i really think it is not more than the diy project
won't let me says your not accepting right now
yeah!!
my mother had one of them
Yeah Arduinos are pretty restricted to it. But they do it so well
yepp Thanks!!
No need to thank me. Always happy to talk about stuff

Any idea if it's possible to run a Python script within a virtual environment without activating it prior?
I want a oneliner π
I'm currently using pyenv
The closest I found is pyenv exec which only uses the version but not the virtual environment
I think pipenv will toss it into the venv for you...
And there has to be a command to run it through
Like something in the standard lib
I guess poetry run python <script name> works
Yeah, same deal essentially
Gluconeogenesis (GNG) is a metabolic pathway that results in the generation of glucose from certain non-carbohydrate carbon substrates. It is a ubiquitous process, present in plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and other microorganisms. In vertebrates, gluconeogenesis occurs mainly in the liver and, to a lesser extent, in the cortex of the kidneys...
You could do it with a shebang but I don't think that'd work with the py launcher for example...
Hmm
Oh hush
pyenv exec
gonna head to bed, gn o/

Rereading it all pyenv doesn't have the functionality for just running
So you'd want pipenv or poetry
Yeah, I just use poetry run python3 <script>

!d sys.exit
sys.exit([arg])```
Exit from Python. This is implemented by raising the [`SystemExit`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#SystemExit "SystemExit") exception, so cleanup actions specified by finally clauses of [`try`](https://docs.python.org/3/reference/compound_stmts.html#try) statements are honored, and it is possible to intercept the exit attempt at an outer level.

exit(code=None)```
Objects that when printed, print a message like βUse quit() or Ctrl-D (i.e. EOF) to exitβ, and when called, raise [`SystemExit`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#SystemExit "SystemExit") with the specified exit code.
!d os._exit
os._exit(n)```
Exit the process with status *n*, without calling cleanup handlers, flushing stdio buffers, etc.
Note
The standard way to exit is `sys.exit(n)`. [`_exit()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/os.html#os._exit "os._exit") should normally only be used in the child process after a [`fork()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/os.html#os.fork "os.fork").

I ca't decide between an IPv6 with 6969 over and over or having dead:beef in there
Hmmmm
that's it, no more internet for you
lmfao
Its right there?
Nope
Maybe because you're inside?
I mean it may have been generated for a single person
Well it's valid so
Minesweeper over ipv6 lol wut
put the X & Y inside the IPv6 address
Bruh
2a0f:85c1:23:2:6969:6969::/96 ranges from 2a0f:85c1:0023:0002:6969:6969:0000:0000 to 2a0f:85c1:0023:0002:6969:6969:ffff:ffff
so the last two hextets are allocated for an X+Y

RDB needs to fork() often in order to persist on disk using a child process. Fork() can be time consuming if the dataset is big, and may result in Redis to stop serving clients for some millisecond or even for one second if the dataset is very big and the CPU performance not great. AOF also needs to fork() but you can tune how often you want to rewrite your logs without any trade-off on durability.``` Ouch

loopback
This interface has a feature called: loopback. It allows you to not only record the sound from the microphone inputs, but also the sound comming from the computer itself. Itβs designed to record singing, or whatever, together with the music thatβs playing on your computer. But in my case, that gave me issues.
Audient has drivers for the EVO 4 for macOS and Windows, but not for GNU/Linux. The drivers create separate devices for each input, and also one for loopback audio. But the generic drivers on GNU/Linux only create one device: all the inputs combined. And here is where the trouble comes in. To explain, let me illustrate my setup.
@molten pewter how did you manage with your SSD
I installed Ubuntu over it, seems to be working fine now.
does anyone know what the Ubuntu equivalent of the GNU ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf would be?
I found it.
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf
Objects/dictobject.c lines 2123 to 2129
dict_keys(PyDictObject *mp)
{
PyObject *v;
Py_ssize_t i, j;
PyDictKeyEntry *ep;
Py_ssize_t n, offset;
PyObject **value_ptr;```
or only for you?
global is fine
then use root
otherwise it's best practice to create the file locally
in ~/.config etc
that will overrule the /etc file
then, if you mess up, you can always overwrite it from the /etc file
got it.
I fixed it π by adding the following line to my ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf:
remixing-use-all-sink-channels = no
ah
in future, take a look at the debian docs for stuff like this
for stuff like this it's identical to all intents and purposes to Ubuntu
Is it possible to check how many messages you posted?
If you use the search bar in the top right, you can do from:oni and select your name out of the list and that'll tell you total messages on the server

I like that better
Brb 30-45mins
Approved
Well I kind of push back on that, Mina. There's plenty of cultures that consist of white people where they may see a bias to them
yeah idk either. whites are ethnic too right?
Sure, and I'm not saying the term isn't wrong
"You have an accent."
Just that saying non-white is also inaccurate
yes true
We can look back to when the Irish were highly oppressed in the US
it's easy to swap "ethnic people" with "people of color" but dunno what to do about "ethnic names"
A name like Patrick or a last name of O'Maley might have been a make or break
this dude, along with derek from veritasium are geniuses
LOL
People are, to this day, identifying themselves with anglicised names in professional settings.
Pressured to do so or otherwise.
my dad works for a big US bank, which also hires tons of people offshore. Many of their names are Mohammed. they got re-assigned nicknames of X1, X2, X3
Yep, absolutely
To a point, there are some instances where I get it. If I'm talking with someone on the phone and they have a name which lays outside my experience in such a way that I don't have a hope in hell of knowing what to write down or remember, I'm okay with the idea of shortening...but...eh.
That way it's still their name...just...an easier bite of it.
lol so my last name is 2 letters long, and when i spell it out, they always go "that's it?" "Yup"
I would prefer their real and full name.

I've managed to create an Excel 'Table' into a sheet of an Excel workbook using OpenPyXl, I've also managed to put conditonal formatting on it but I can't then filter this data using OpenPyXl. The answer seems to be on this link but I can't figure out how to implament it:

mina, I should have said "minority" names as I was describing the difference even among ardent anti-racists showing bias for non-minority names, as well as feminists showing biases towards males, and similarly across age and class differences
@hallow warren hm do you mean bias "against" ?
or ok i guess "bias for" is not wrong either
No, it's completely subconscious, and only shows up in audits. It's why people say racism and sexism is systemic. The effect size is >10% last I read about it

Sorry, got this 50 word limit and haven't gotten back around to python. Not like I'd use my mic anyway~
No worries. We have plenty of folks who do have voice permissions that still prefer to type
We'll typically watch the text channel that pairs with the voice one
I can hear you though lol, I'll be sneaking python secrets here after I sleep.
HA, no worries
And yeah, a lot of people just listen and chat this way

Yep, I'm reading backwards at the moment. Well, I guess it's decent practice for python; at least how I used to write it...

^ would a value ever equal multiple things like that such that you could use and..?
turned out OR was the thing to go for
It wouldn't for TYPE
But it might for checking if something is the certain type and also a certain value, since it would short circuit on the type
Or if you're checking if something is of a certain type and happened on a different day or something
is TYPE a column name*? or smth special that I'm not aware of

no, but I have a steam powered giraffe

what is the error?
it will point to the code that needs changing

def mainloop(*arg,**kwargs):
game.win.fill((255, 255, 255))
game.create_window(

this is the second one

get_event() # This can be None, you need to check using an if
mainloop()
pygame.display.update()
pygame.quit()
an alternative is to make the equal another callable object
that doesn't do anything
but i'd just use an if statement

is that the insert timestamp?
then that will be why it skips
because it might not be at a constant rate of insertion
This ObjectId is constructed off of 3 sections
One of those is a timestamp which I can just query I guess
Not the most efficient
Exactly
Sometimes it hangs since it gathers a ton of data
