I was planning to apply for nottingham but broke af now
@past elk quicksort chooses a pivot, puts all the elements less than the pivot to the left of it, and all the elements greater than the pivot to the right of it, then recursively sorts the left and right sub-arrays.
Erm, you can pick the first element, but then you have problems for already-sorted arrays.
does this pattern re.compile(rf'{name}o?\d*?') mean, name + o(maybe) + integers(0 or more, maybe)?
You can pick a random element.
If you pick the first or last element, the algorithm becomes O(n^2) for arrays that are already in sorted order, because all of the elements get placed on one side of the pivot each time.
just out of curiosity but what all do u need to get into
Another way to pick the pivot is to take the median of the first, middle, and last element.
😂 a google review about nottingham trent -> "Least helpful student service and rude staff."
but insertion, bubble, selection all give O(n^2) by default, don't they?
@whole bear https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/pgstudy/how-to-apply/how-to-apply.aspx , I kinda dropped the idea of higher education because sometimes it bother me like "Does it really matter ?"
dont ask me im a 10th grader😆
wtf
is tere a financial aid or somethin or u had funds?
high school?
daamn
is the channel age restricted?
why suprised
nah it just that it was the age i started learning programming
and i still kinda suck
you can have sponsors though.
i am beginner
sponsors what?/
nation?
@past elk here's my quicksort https://hastebin.com/qipaciquyo.sql
sponsoring your financial aid obviously
do they have that!!! thats great i gotta maybe apply for ug!
@whole bear Where you from ?
why does it matter?
I might have pointers if you are from India
got it
quicksort = lambda xs: (quicksort([i for i in xs[1:] if i < xs[0]] )
+ [xs[0]]
+ quicksort([i for i in xs[1:] if i >= xs[0]]))
from stackoverflow
first element as pivot
Is anyone familiar with pyautogui by chance?
Don't spam or you will never be voice verified
Erm, I think so.
!ban Hitesh
🤣
chill out man, it getting into my nerves
Trying to bypass the voice verified thing by spamming messages separately will prolong your requirements, or possibly get you perma muted
!mute 505905722987380736 3d spamming across multiple channels
:incoming_envelope: :ok_hand: applied mute to @whole bear until 2020-12-02 13:06 (2 days and 23 hours).
How long have you guys been programming in python? I started about 4 days ago, haha
4 years LOL
That is the question 😄
how do you parallelize merge sort? first time I've heard about it, and kinda wanna know badly
i mean, we have to keep the track of the sorted subarrays, don't we
so maybe Queue from multiprocessing module
I am a shell sorter. I have a shelf of sorted shells and a shelf of unsorted shells. I am a shell sorter.
radix sort
threading subproblems and joining probably ?
it sorts all kinds of bases, i.e integers, hexadecimals, octal numbers
Is there like a snippet of code someone has to help me understand text recognition on screen? Doing this for a simple game bot im working on for a singleplayer game
Something that I find pretty useful when looking for examples of a specific library or so is to use the github search, it works quite well, you should try it
Is it Pascal?
im very very new to coding entirely, kinda getting a late start but ive made my first game bot recently so just trying to make it better. Never really used github asides from just a simple download screen when finding resources
Hmm, I think if it were a cocktail-shaker-sort the sorted elements would build up at both ends?
Like, there would be two triangles?
Nah
Cocktail shaker sort, also known as bidirectional bubble sort, cocktail sort, shaker sort (which can also refer to a variant of selection sort), ripple sort, shuffle sort, or shuttle sort, is an extension of bubble sort. The algorithm extends bubble sort by operating in two directions. While it improves on bubble sort by more quickly moving it...
But do you see what I mean about it building up the elements at both ends?
is it counting sort ?
Like after the nth iteration, the n smallest and n largest elements are in their correct positions.
if anyone knows some regex, can u help me please in help-vanadium
Sure
you gotta show some mercy to keyb
See ya

I'm deeply sorry for my actions.
yeah looks like you don't meet messages or activity blocks yet
which are the two easiest criteria to meet (you can't really speed up time for the 3 day member requirement, but you can chat here and in the other channels 😄)
you can't really speed up time... yet

what does "failed" means in this context?
what is a PosixPath?
They doesn't meet one of the 3 criteria
TypeError: open() argument 'mode' must be str, not PosixPath, getting this
as path as described per the POSIX syntax
I thiiink it can count the same person many times
POSIX refers to the rules made for the file systems for operating systems, right?
@whole rover do you know if the failed voice gate stats can count the same person twice?
Yeah, the 2 major POSIX OSes are Linux and MacOS
what's windows? what rules does it follows?
@wise glade You could construct a custom class to do it.
It follows their own rules haha
so, this error won't show up if i was using windows?

guys
hello, with what ?
new to python
difference between json.dump() and json.dumps()
i don't get it seriously, should i just read the docs?
yeah, whatever the data-type, it can be anything?
list, dicts, array etc?
json.dump(obj, fp, *, skipkeys=False, ensure_ascii=True, check_circular=True, allow_nan=True, cls=None, indent=None, separators=None, default=None, sort_keys=False, **kw)```
Serialize *obj* as a JSON formatted stream to *fp* (a `.write()`-supporting [file-like object](../glossary.html#term-file-like-object)) using this [conversion table](#py-to-json-table).
If *skipkeys* is true (default: `False`), then dict keys that are not of a basic type ([`str`](stdtypes.html#str "str"), [`int`](functions.html#int "int"), [`float`](functions.html#float "float"), [`bool`](functions.html#bool "bool"), `None`) will be skipped instead of raising a [`TypeError`](exceptions.html#TypeError "TypeError").
The [`json`](#module-json "json: Encode and decode the JSON format.") module always produces [`str`](stdtypes.html#str "str") objects, not [`bytes`](stdtypes.html#bytes "bytes") objects. Therefore, `fp.write()` must support [`str`](stdtypes.html#str "str") input.
If *ensure\_ascii* is true (the default), the output is guaranteed to have all incoming non-ASCII characters escaped. If *ensure\_ascii* is false, these characters will be output as-is.... [read more](https://docs.python.org/3/library/json.html#json.dump)
!d json.dumps
json.dumps(obj, *, skipkeys=False, ensure_ascii=True, check_circular=True, allow_nan=True, cls=None, indent=None, separators=None, default=None, sort_keys=False, **kw)```
Serialize *obj* to a JSON formatted [`str`](stdtypes.html#str "str") using this [conversion table](#py-to-json-table). The arguments have the same meaning as in [`dump()`](#json.dump "json.dump").
Note
Keys in key/value pairs of JSON are always of the type [`str`](stdtypes.html#str "str"). When a dictionary is converted into JSON, all the keys of the dictionary are coerced to strings. As a result of this, if a dictionary is converted into JSON and then back into a dictionary, the dictionary may not equal the original one. That is, `loads(dumps(x)) != x` if x has non-string keys.
Do you see how the first one has the fp parameter?
Alright, I'll have to go guys, cya!
@sick cloud I'm the one playing against you on lichess
via this link
do we have someone russian here???or surrounding nation
a moment of silence
?
yeah, file object, and were done
oh, well played though
dumps return a "jsonable" string
lol
I just clicked on it
I made 2 moves and then stopped
cuz i won after ur 2 moves
Join the challenge or watch the game here.
dumps gives you a string as output but dump actually dumps it to a file
ahhhhhh, i'll play the next match
anyone watching the match ?
i mean py with open('file.json') as fp: json.dump(some_dictionary, fp)
This just creates a nice json file for me
but json.dumps(python_object(list, dict etc) ) returns a string, so what do I do with that string?
its useful if you want to get a json output as string but with indents
example: json.dumps(dict, indent=2)
@wise glade
this is what I use it for
yeah, it will return a string, right?
some_string = json.dumps(dict, indent=2)?
what do I do with this some_string? write it to a text file or something? write it to a json file using json.dump()?
yes, I use it for the indent incase I want to see my dict in a neat format(for huge dicts)
then usepprint module
I'm just used to the json.dumps, lol
oh, you mean inside the .json file
you can do pass indent as keyword arg inside dump too
huh, thanks, didn't knew that
@tranquil barn idk

hey there's a method which can detect the data type from the string value of that data, like

def __iter__(self):
self._len = 0

for i in middleToken(product(middle, middle)):
middles.append(''.join(i))
for number, letters, end in zip(first, middles , last):
print(number, letters, end, sep="")
how can i add tqdm to show the progress bar of the file opening and in the middles list the elements being added?
apologies
hmmm, alright
height = int(input("Enter the height:"))
for i in range(height,0,-1):
print(" "*(i-1), "#"*(height-(i-1)), end ="")
print("#"*(height-(i-1)), " "*(i-1))

one of the coolest methods in python ast.literal_eval()
from ast import literal_eval
a = str([1,2,3])
b = str(dict(a=1, b=2))
print(a,b, type(a), type(b))
a = literal_eval(a)
b = literal_eval(b)
print(a,b, type(a), type(b))
what is ast ?
a module i think
anything which can be used like import stuff, the stuff is a module, right?
probably
oh god, its too cold to stay awake now, i better go to sleep

hello @scarlet drift
hey jag
doing maths I see
wth does f do ?
f(x) takes an input
these things
If I remember correctly
oh, limits
Integrals
oh this is integrals
integrating from -26 to 26
not those :P
man I hated integrals
who doesnt
been like 2-3 years since I did calculus lol
umm....i don't
in highschool
you like integrals?
You doing statistics @gentle flint ?
i've seen that so many times
yeah
for noise suppression
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
seen what? highschoolers lol
no, the f thing
ah
i'm in highschool
I'm thinking about starting statistics (didn't go to college) for my own learning's sake
A father and son had a miraculous escape from a wildfire in Glacier National Park in Montana on August 12, when they were forced to drive through the flames, dodging debris and enduring an increasingly hot car.
Justin Bilton told Storyful that he and his father saw the then small Howe Ridge Fire begin to spread from 5 acres to over 2000 in a ma...
plus developing analytics dashboards looks really intriguing
bro this video was very intense
@gentle flint this is by far the best probability textbook I've seen: http://www.mit.edu/~dimitrib/probbook.html
Also covers statistics, and explains statistical inference in terms of probability in a really illuminating way.
The thing is, I'll only be having statistics for this one unit in this one module
is it beginner friendly/
?*
so not sure if I should get a whole book for it
Ah yeah, it's a bit expensive 😄
indeed
Most of the content is in this online course: https://www.edx.org/course/probability-the-science-of-uncertainty-and-data
The professor is the author of that book.
I think the lectures are also available on MIT OCW.
bruh
Erm, it requires basic calculus, but it's pretty accessible.
lemme check out MIT OCW
oh yeah for sure check that out
Gtg too
It's like 1:54 AM here at my side LOL
cya tmr
take care man
I should go to bed but here I am programming and planning to stay awake the whole night
10/10 ideas
"The higher, the fewer."
i'll see @eternal bough @scarlet drift @gentle flint @tranquil barn @somber heath and @here tmr, good night
bruh
Gn jag
night man
what could go wrong ? :P
sorted([image for image in images], key=lambda img: img.size[0]*img.size[1])```
Sum of widths for width. Max height of all for height.
Place first at 0,0, place second at width of first+1, third at the width of those two +1, fourth at the width of those three+1 and so on.
@whole bear Your network is screwing with your audio, I think.
Jaaank.
