English is a weird language
English is context based, so if you have no clue of context it's harder for you to communicate at all.
In other languages you can predict the context based on tone of speech but it's hard to guess in english

Hello π€
I think the point hotness is making is that ipv6 might not change the user experience much, but the costs you pay reduce
is that right?
so same service -> provided for lower costs -> is better for company
No, it increases them because you have two network layers to support
ahh i see, that makes sense
makes sense, what was the intent behind IPv6? Why was it introduced?
me hearing about nix pods
ahh damn damn, thanks!
Well 2^64 networks
I think that's ipv6

@somber heath this is vocabulary ( Exacerbate ) What I intend
I don't understand.
To exacerbate means to make something worse than it already is.
Say if a lot of people were angry at me, already, and I went up to and taunted them, I would be exacerbating the situation.
Or if two sides were warring over an area, and I encouraged a third to join the conflict and made the fighting intensify and lengthen in duration, I have exacerbated that situation.
Or if there were a deadly virus and people went about their day, knowingly spreading it around, refusing to wear masks, licking elevator buttons, coughing at babies, licking icecream in stores snd puttin bit back, communally licking shrines, doorknobs, calling it a hoax, discrediting vaccinations, advocating that people use bleach and ultraviolet light in their lungs, take horse dewormer...
These would all excacerbate the situation.

To hit DNA level accuracy you would have to target 2 or more fingers at near pixel perfect accuracy as the average human has 150-200 minutiae (the design on your finger) per finger
And it requires 400+ minutiae to get even remotely close to DNA level accuracy
This would likely be the fact that the Touch ID capture system has a 550 dots per inch setup which provides a roughly 30 minutiae accuracy if memory serves correct. Iβll have to find the article this is coming from to confirm but I believe thatβs the current public guess

you need to beat inflation
@wind raptor (wave)

@wind raptor what would be a good way / course to learn backend development? to the stage that you can get a job as backend dev
Why are we talking about Trump?
Our opinion has little to no impact on Trump and his matter
Learn one backend technology really well.
I see a decent amount of Django jobs
mhhhh
Maduro is awful but, International Court and International bodies are righteous to deal with Maduro.
The US took action in his own hands but it has also made the world clear that they can do what the US did with Venezuela and Maduro.
Gotta head out. Cheers!
"I see a decent amount of Django jobs" i got so happy when i read this lol i have been learning django for a couple of month now yheee
In canada*
now i am sad π
Supposed to be, if you are from India
but you can aim for a job in Canada, some recruiters prefer Indian with distance or relocation
ya it is cheaper to hire/ outsouce work to indians (work from home) due to the low cost of living in india
Nope
hopefully i am good enough for a good tech job not becouse of the cost advantage but form a skill viewpoint
Cost is not a major factor, in IT jobs are much less compared to Manufacturing or other sectors
Supply is abundant in India, which makes it a good place to outsource
most of the outsource work is shady work as it lies in the gray area.
in other news i made redis image 3mb
ghcr.io/me/redis:latest-distroless 0e3de41f9fea 9.08MB 2.18MB```
It is proportional to how many people are worse than you.
Are you in the top 10%? or 1%?
i would say the cost is low due to the abundance that is true but the cost is a bigger factor here for example avg salary for a juniour developer in canada is around 50k a year right? in india it is 7-10k canadian dollars.. the cost of living comes into the factor skill level are around the same.. we have a lots of agency who hire junior devs for low price and serve us uk market..
At the moment CS is the most popular course meaning, supply is at its peak!
ya with that i have noticed that the quality also has quite dropped.. i might be in a bubble but people around me just know the basic surface level stuff not the actual engineer stuff building products or solving problems it is simple copy paste ecom websites(i am making one)
Not really, if cost was a major factor there are plenty more countries like brazil.
And China is a country with the most dev.
its not about cost its about supply
Exactly they want the right people for the right work
what's the convo?
yea there are more dev than required so they have wider choice to choose
Trump and his life
ew
X vs Y
There's a MAGAniac in the VC.
It is much easier to find java dev and other dev in India because more people create diverse skill stack
It's also true for China and many other countries
yea true
this is an AI bubble gonna pop someday
Nope it's not ai, AI just accelerated it
It was inevitable
junior web dev are now being replaced by AI
When more people are in the same game, technology and people advance more meaning more productive than they used to be, so it makes less sense to higher more
As they can do with much less dev
Only a matter of time until we run out of mids & seniors.
true
another thing is in india there is very moderate core tech jobs cause india does not produce big core tech products.... it is changing slowly with companies like zoho(indian microsoft)... but we have like millions of cs grads that has no oppurtunities in india for core cs jobs... so the main goal is to outsource these services till we are able to utilize the workforce.. you said china.. they do already have massive tech industry in india the tech industry leaders are TCS , Wipro , infosys who are the agencies which serve the eu, us etc and becouse there is huge supply of cs grad the salaries are low.. even with same skill level
ya that is true
The most secured job in tech is Ai researcher
due to overhiring in 2021? with lower demand for software?
Unfortunately, IT in India is the result of the ignorance of the government.
As the Indian government was dumb and not aware of how to regulate IT, hence it flourished so much as it was not regulated like other sectors in India.
This is a sad but brutal reality.
so true dude
Other sectors are dwarfed in comparison to IT
In India it should not be as it is a poor country
It should have been manufacturing and other sectors more powerful
but wont that speed up the industry? and should help the field to flourish even more? like how high level langauges helped the software be more accessable and made a pretty huge tech boom?
It has sped up the industry but less human required now
yeppp
but what i have read about suggest companies firing people for ai are hiring them back in a few months.. cause ai is still incompetent at its job and has well no accountability
Nope
This is a common legacy
They fire more than hire
Normal for companies to do so.
They do this because they can show more profit for investment and it kicks the old and lazy dev out
yes, all day long
Wow, cool. I use Arch btw
I specifically use Cachy OS
Did you try Cachy OS?
I don't distro-hop - I carefully study the entire market, and make a solid long-run optimal decision.
Ohhh, What do you mean by analyzing the entire market? Don't you use what you prefer?
I'm analytical. I prefer to look before I leap.
Ohh, but Nix OS is usually not recommended π
It is not preferred for most developers / long time users
you're using passive voice - I don't understand you. I highly recommend NixOS.
I mean, Nix OS is usually not preferred by the community for yet. Usually you said, you prefer a long time use
I especially recommend NixOS for developers and people who want to learn about Linux and use it for a very long time.
Yeah, but since you said, you prefer long time use and you do analyze. That's why I said "Nix OS is usually not recommended".
I have a 400k Stack Overflow rep due to Python, I've given talks about Python at Python conferences, meetups, and taught it at universities, and I've used it professionally for 12 years where my title was VP and Architect - what are your credentials?
Yeah
Opinions are like buttholes, we all have em, they all stink
Me ?
ha, I have decided NixOS is the best.
It's a preference, one should not argue on the preference of someone
Usually, options change. Maybe you will choose a distribution later xD
It's a silly proposition to say that one shouldn't argue for their preference?
Bruh, did I argue? Ohhh my bad
Cool, for you
And I declared it the worst
Since you said, you analyze the market of Linux. That's why I said. It is usually not recommended. It is recommended long time users. xD
xD
This, I have yet to find any list that confirms nix is best
Nvm.
not a single one
it's not been in a single list of "top distros for devs" I've seen
Yeah
It is quite complicated
The best distro is the distro which I use.
- most dev
Yeah
THe only time I ever see Nix mentioned is when mr nix himeslf is around
In my opinion Fedora is overall best for general use and development.
Well, it depends. I prefer Arch, Fedora
Well, most people are bad. But there are some good people xD
Well, I think you meant Arch community
Not Arch itself xD
In my opinion, most of the arch users are kiddo, just using arch to flex.
Nah, you are wrong. The people who use Arch are not just kiddos
Do you know how complicated Arch manual installation is (btrfs + encrypted root)? xD
Yes, I have used arch
It is not like your GUI, you have full control xD
I mean, do you installed manually with those features
?
xD
I've installed arch both manually and using the arch install tool.
I feel the same about the game Rust, such a good product, such a horrible cancerous community
Ohh, I see then you know what is the pain for beginner Arch users to install Arch
Yeah me too
Exactly, racist as well
Maybe π€
bigoted overall
not just racist, all the hate
Nope, it was not painful or stressful
I knew what I was doing.
They are just weird psco*op**Γ₯::
Ohh, you must be a good Linux user xD
Nope, it's about having prior knowledge and practice
There are no good or bad users
Ohh, I see xD how many times you broke your Arch?
0
xD
Idk, why is it a big deal just to install linux distro?
Ohh, then you didn't experiment that much. No way , even major Arch users broke their system 88+ times xD
I thought that's the point, to break shit and learn from fixing
Sinec generally we don't learn much when we do it right on the first run
but making mistakes, that's where humans learn best
Yeah
Good for them.
I usually prefer not to experiment without prior knowledge.
Ohh, you will break it. Maybe downloading Nvidia drivers or changing bootloaders
Most Arch users break their system
Once
Arch is not meant to be a system like , Fedora
Idk

thank you!
i wonder if there are any regulations for the use of AI, especially in art and stuff
have a good night!
yeah ai is a tool that has a lot of potiential to be used for good or evil, i just don't really trust it being in the hands of the ppl in power
maybe they don't understand or don't care about the consequences, especially to the avg common ppl who they have nothing in common with
that is a scary potential, for sure!
hopefully not
it's nice chatting w you all, i'll have to leave now, but those consequences are dim and scary. we need to do smth about them in the small ways we can!
Iβve always preached that you should use it like a search engine not a research partner
Maybe once itβs more capable of context and longer strand responses but I personally donβt want to know that something I released could be far better if I had tried

IDK - for school purposes treat it like a know-it-all classmate who may or may not have actually read the book.
My current favorite usage is "the missing manual" - when confused about the settings on my multimeter today it taught me how to better use it.
I also like using it for contentious discussions when I'm looking for "just the facts" because my own memory may fail me and it's nice having at least what seems to be an unbiased third party collection of the facts.

Hi man
hello everyone
Hello all, I have a question if anyone can help me answer it would be greatful :)?
what're question ?
Question is, I got 0 exprience in coding at all. But I want to build a webbsite like Facebook marketplace/ebay, users put up stuff to buy and sell. My question is whats the best programing to use for scaling. I wanna start with that the webbsite can handle for example 1 million Advertisement later on maybe handle 30 million. Accoding to chatgpt Gjango is best for that? is it true?
Do you have anyt tips?

how can i get voice verified?
Helloo
Hey @jovial pilot
Howdy
Aye, its actually Filip
Nah, its my first name
I wish hhahahaha, Patek Philippe is a brand of watches, and Filip is my name so its like a joke
Im from Serbia, you?
I dont, but nobody would be able to pronounce it
My parents were real estate agents, signs with their names all over town. I don't see the additional risk, tbh.
i know but how many messages should
i send in total
absolutely no idea
ok thx
ask mods
Are you guys working on any projects?
can i tag mods?
Online it's not convenient to use real names.
I used to have a real name as my username and name but random people will approach.
There is a pattern, these scammers have some insight about you based on your name and bio, so they make use of it to approach you and talk and sell their schemes.
Wait
I avoid using real names on Discord, Reddit.
Wdym?
Thereβs only the plus button
Google: Discord Servers
All Discord servers | DISBOARD: Discord Server List https://share.google/Uy85o0B90us5sY9Do
I figure that by using my real name I trade-off some marginal privacy for continuity and credibility.
I think it does
Cool man.
Real name stands out in discord
Most users have random names
Cool name π
Hey @haughty fjord
Hey
@haughty pier hey. What your story with programming
12 years Python experience
when I was a kid my dad gave me a commodore 64 (I was begging for a Nintendo) and I started my first coding with it.
That's a thing to be proud about
I May need your decade experience to frame my journey
Everything about him is impressive!
It is non interactive!
???
Yeah bro
Algerian?
@tight bane @haughty pier
a big challenge for you is to fully understand your code and be able to explain it in an interview
Yes bro why
With the rise of AI-assisted coding it is very easy for new developers to generate what appears to be a comprehensive application, but if they cannot explain the application they are not going to pass interviews.
I like algeria, Indila is part Algerian.
Who is Indils
Famous singer, legendary singer
Thank yu you could come there
?
Do you know Indila?
ouais
I know her I listened to her music and don't know her
Isn't she a legendary singer?
Love story
Ha ha
Yes it is so you are french
And most importantly she contributes her success to algeria and its culture
To some extent

if v == 0:
return 1
return v * main(v-1)

fix your indentation
@lusty sphinx if you want to get your syntax highlighting like mine and Ghazi's you need to put py after the first code-fence delimiter.
write a __repr__ for your cars class.
@jaunty socket
please wait
see this answer: https://stackoverflow.com/a/28132458/541136
nope, lol
you want to be able to reproduce the object from the results of the repr.
I'm sorry, I'm not understanding
you want to return a string that looks like "Car(make, model, year)" where make, model and year are the strings (actually, is year an int?) that are the values you would use to recreate the object.
Like this?
you have:
def __repr__(self):
return f'{self.make} {self.model} {self.year}'
But that is going to return a string like make model year, which is not what I told you here
wild, had no clue python let's you introspect on stack frames π΅
in python the only limit is your imagination
