seriously
we're pretty close to a crash, but we're sedated by influencers and AI propaganda still.
we're that moment in the road runner cartoon where wile coyote runs off a cliff, but doesn't start falling until he looks down and realizes
we're definitely in the "everyone is still investing in enron despite the very obvious signs" phase
These are some of the downsides:
- delegitimising occupations/professions (medical, law, IT)
- surging prices of energy, RAM, GPU
- facilitating organized crime, impersonation, deep fakes
- destroyed the already brittle recruitment system in IT
- dropping in quality for customer services and increase in errors due to malfunctioning AI systems

Sure, AI valuation seems to be, “whole sale fire workers so profits to the moon” and that’s clearly not happening.
Idk man, that AWS outage, people say “it was DNS”. what if the guy who maintained the DNS had been laid off prior to the outage. What if an entire team taking care of DNS were laid off.
i think we’re going to see a lot more outages soon(courtesy of “AI”, whatever that is)
how do i download osu lazer
Idk what that is.
so unpack the appimage
i dont know the name of the file it requires name
by “open” you mean execute? or look inside it?
execute
it says the file doesnt exist
screenshot?
you go to the directory where the appimage is. you verify double check that the appimage is there(with ls). After you confirm this you make it executable (chmod +x). Only then you run it like this ./file.appimage
if you follow these steps i guarantee success and victory
it isnt there
it has the foldders not the files
so you have to find it. you can use the find command or locate. either way, you have to find where this appimage file is located on your filesystem
Oh I got it
It said I wasn't active enough 🥲
you can change that and be active
Yeah and I'm here 👍
yes that’s progress
it doesnt work
where’s the screenshot/error?
Did you find the location of the appimage file?
btw when my teacher said indiaaans are the number one in computers a kid said ''cause they know word and office''
and why is it hard to stay in VC?
it’s a silence challenge. who speaks first loses.
Daymn
that’s evidence that you do not know how to use locate and you must learn how to use it
ddo i type the file name after
you can even read the manpage for locate or consult a book. chatgpt is a disaster and an attack on critical thinking.
but you could even consult chatgpt.
if you’re okay with using a probabilistic search engine, chatgpt is great. at least full text search guarantees that a keyword is in a document. and bloom filters give a bound for the error rate. but LLMs? all guarantees fly out the f-ing window 🪟.
you do not know how to find a file on Linux.

The Cat only grinned when it saw Alice. It looked good-natured, she thought: still it had very long claws and a great many teeth, so she felt that it ought to be treated with respect.
“Cheshire Puss,” she began, rather timidly, as she did not at all know whether it would like the name: however, it only grinned a little wider. “Come, it’s pleased so far,” thought Alice, and she went on. “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where—” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
“—so long as I get somewhere,” Alice added as an explanation.
“Oh, you’re sure to do that,” said the Cat, “if you only walk long enough.”

But that's how you start a ds project... look through different data sets and ask "What could I use this to predict or analyze?"
ohh bet bet thanks man have a great day!
Unless you had a question already and then you look for a dataset that could answer it or collect the info somehow(painful)

@amber raptor any chance for Mr. T realizing this?
It might be a winning strategy? Henson Huang is also pissed because profit center is cut off. Listening to him is like asking wolf in a herd of cows what would be best for dinner.
I see, so vested interest..
He wants to be like “We will lose the war so might as well them the bullets (GPUs) anyways”
CEO are sociopaths who have only one goal, money, all of it.
how do i open.appimage files
You really think China can't make some GPUs?
You know where all the chip designers are? 70% of them they're in India.
Remember how Trump pissed off India recently with tariffs?
in linux
US can create chip designers as well. We have ability but not the setup.
do you guys have that system where you get money if you recycle bottle
Some states
yes, although here you only get a coupon that allows a small discount in the store associated with the recycling center.
yes, in our country you get like 20 cents (euro) per bottle you recycle
No you do not, because those jobs are not in the US anymore. And US universities do not teach that anymore, it's taught in Taiwan, in China, in Singapore, not the US.
I can pull up a video about it.
And this has been going on since the late 80s and early 90s when the US moved all the chip stuff overseas.
it doesnt work
"doesnt work" is insufficient, it was insufficient last time and it's insufficient now.
You write the error, you say exactly what you did and what you got.
Take screenshots.
Learn how to use a computer 💻 , learn how to use Linux 🐧 . Learn the basics of shell and bash.
You don't know the basics, I've told you this last time, when you couldn't even find a file on disk.
It was 2 days ago, I told you that you don't know how to do it and you're confirming it now.
We still do design onshore for a lot of things. Our students don’t attend and it’s mostly foreign students because of various factors.
Remember how I pointed you to learn how to use find and locate? You haven't.
Now you can't even find a file on disk.
This is what happens when you don't read 📚 .
You watch youtube all day and you ask chatgpt.
what does the error message say in English?
no file or directory (catalogue)?
either you're in the wrong place or entered the wrong name
it says osu.appimage doesnt exist
Because it doesn't exist in that directory yes.
That's why you have to find where it is, which you can't find where it is because you don't know how to.
You've used it wrong. Learn how to use it.
Stop complaining.
If helping people frustrates you, maybe you should do thigs that are less frustrating.
what do i type
You do not know how to make it work.
It is you who wields the command.
It's on you to use it properly.
Not everyone is you
Some take more guidance
some take less
patience is key to teaching
Krysztof, this guy hasn't googled even a single manpage.
He comes here and complains. For 3 days now.
If something didn't click, berating the person isn't gonna help.
And you've been here complaining for years, it seems.
but you're still here, so why can't he?
then just ignore them?
what is a manpage
linux f1
😂
like a site that has all the commands
Glad you were born knowing what a manpage is iko
You are superior to us all
Thank you for gracing us with your greatness
i only know cause i googled
You know what because you googled?
what a manpage is
Yeah, please just ignore if you you don't want to help. It doesn't help anyone to be confrontational over a simple question
It's also not the vibe we are going for in the community
ty
i tried the manpage thing you said
A manpage won't fix anything
it'll just explain a program
it's like pressing F1 on windows
yeah i need to understand first
SYNOPSIS
find [-H] [-L] [-P] [-D debugopts] [-Olevel] [starting-point...] [expression]
with an emphasis on starting-point
^^ the second paragraph in the find manpage.
not sure whihc
this alone would have gotten him far..
Would have gotten him nowhere
if you've never read a manpage
that format means nothing
you understand the brackets are optional commands, you understand that htey're showing what's being passed along, you understand what [expression] means
someone who's never used manpage
is unfamiliar with linux
and as you claimed, struggles to find a file
will get ZERO value from that line
ZERO
without furter context or explanation
And to find that line out of all the lines, without understanding what any of it is talking about
Again, you have prior knowledge that you're using to easily interpret the man page
teaching someone who is new requires you to look with fresh eyes
not dig through years of experience
and assume they have the same
i need to find the command
I acknowledge my fault. Yes the manpage for find is horrible, lacking in examples, too terse and not useful.
There is tacit knowledge that lays hidden.
manpages are generally not written for the layman
ok
https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/linux-find-command a lot more helpful
examples with explanations
wait isnt red hat the paid linux distro
You can pay for support
ok
Or maybe it's entirely closed source
IDK
but the info is valid either way
as find is a program all its own
find is part of findutils which is part of every major Linux distro
btrfs help message is annoying even given how I know its internals
even with experience doesn't necessarily get better
it didnt work
chris P bacon
