Heyy
if the cat tree is 10x taller, maybe this is the way to hold it in place
might as well withstand a whole 4 cats

@peak depot you can't go over it? or disadvantage if you oversettle?
yeah, same in that game I showed
overcolonisation
What builds happiness?
In those games usually electricity, water, jobs, education, and medicine,
in city builders yes; in Civ, not really
There was one game, I forget what the name was. You play as the new democratic leader of a latina country that has been just liberated from the reign of a dictator.
You need to bring in money so you can get resources, and you have to make jobs so people can afford to buy resources, and you bring in businesses and tourists to make jobs, etc.
You lean on one side, you get huge gap in social levels, and the poor riot. You pay them, they will learn to riot as they think they'll just get paid again. You punish them, they get bitter and try to take you out.
You lean on the other, you bankrupt the entire country and you get forcibly removed since you can't afford anything anymore.
Was a very fun game.
Tropico
As you can imagine, I ruled with an iron fist.
Yep probably that.
They called me El Pendejo, The Genius.
There were murals in my honor on all walls, although they seemed to coincidentally be sharing the same space with some hate messages, accidents happen.
They would riot and say "Get out El Pendejo!", I was very beloved, my people wanted me to go out and have fun as I worked too much being an awesome leader.
I quite enjoyed that series

Just a random question:
If IQ is measured relative to human population, does that mean those who had higher IQ in 20th century or 19th century are likely to be dumber compared to present day high IQ individual?
Because relative population now has better education and intelligence.

You guys sounds so nice did you took soft skills program?
I fucked up my space key
Now it's broken
Is there any trusted source to order spare part of laptop?
was cleaning laptop and there was paper in between key
Scissor clip is broken
Right now, I'm using same laptop to type in chat
It feels weird using space key without scissor clip
as if I'm using touchpad which wobble
allegedly they're just available for purchase online, but availability might depend on the specific laptop
for which laptop? (specific model)
will have to replace with non-brand-specific
No problemo
(currently trying to find how the compatibility on those works)
ugh
(but also note that it's Reddit so not necessarily true)
also do contact Asus's own support (even if that's likely to be useless)
I mean can't I replace it with thrid party?
I don't care if is original or not, as long as it fits and work
you can; but, under some miraculous circumstances Asus might get you the replacement themselves, especially if your warranty is still valid
and/or clarify whether replacing with third-party voids the warranty
No it's not valid
I don't have warranty to begun with!
while looking through links, found some random allegedly ASUS-approved French reseller
I got exact keyboard layout
Ah no hope
I guess I have to use num key clip
LOL
second-hand purchase?

@wise loom I've involved number theory both at work and on hobby projects in more than just auxiliary roles
but, yes, that's non-default
you're fortunate
I'm the only one in the office who can easily decode certain weird standards
im thinking about yoinking windows and switching to linux
"why not use both"
nah all in or nothing
I'm still thinking of deploying illumos in addition to that at some point
why illumos
BSD doesn't seem to be worth trying yet
if i wanna use powerbi or tableau will that work fine in linux via VM?
Zones + proper ZFS and dtrace, mostly
power
not sure about those two
all the other things i wanna use mostly works just those two
isn't PowerBI Microsoft-made?
both dont have native support
It should work
TIAS, possibly read release notes and stackexchange/forums using appropriate tags to see if people have used it in the way you want before
I guess you can use online version of power bi
ive heard its limited havent check myself tho yet
web app
check itout
hmm
Do you want to use linux only on PC or laptop?
If it is windows laptop, I would recommend you to avoid linux only
its a laptop yes
yes?
Does it have dedicated GPU?
In Linux you have to manually off load the task to dedicated gpu
ohh
I had to write my own software for the touchpad to work well enough
becaues there is little to no or limited support for some of my hardware
and fingerprint sensor required a small patch
(basically just a text change telling it "yes, this model is supported")
I got same gpu
But in my case it did not work
If laptop has intel chip and gpu it will work much better with linux
compared to amd + nvidia
@jade ibex Do you want to flash linux only?
Damn
SE powerbi+linux
SE tableau+linux
SE linux distro and ( powerbi or tableau ) (yes, I know their query language is terrible)
π lemme check
I think you should try VM first
because I did the same mistake
it was pain in ass
Idk why but I choose arch as my first distro
hmm
bruh
people reccomending me fedora
later I switched to ubuntu
I felt ubunut is boring
lets try debian
so I did
next I try fedora
and eventually redhat
what does "boring" mean?
the result set is quite sad
I mean I find debian better compared to ubuntu
not enough exciting errors to google
thing I learned at some point:
arch docs are more useful for ubuntu than ubuntu's own docs
Nah it had many errors
worst of all it had snap and some other junk
snap is just peak wrong, especially for a server
mostly ill need davinci resolve, blender, godot, powerbl and tableau (powerbi and tableau isnt immediately needed) but im in a course which has them so soon enough
ubuntu server is such a joke distro for most uses
You will face problem with davinci
during export
yeah, sure, I want my server to hang for two minutes doing nothing on boot
hmm
do you have amd cpu?
Yes
stay on windows. you don't want random audio/bluetooth/peripheral issues during your coursework or lessons.
use a separate laptop if you want to experiment and learn linux, but have your main machine functional/ready-to-go at all times.
using linux as a desktop can require OR requires note-taking, reading forums, trying out non-default settings.
and you even have to pick your laptop and hardware wisely if you want a good experience.
there are hardware vendors who have HCLs(hardware compatibility lists) which allow you to know before buying if it's compatible or not.
aight
Based on my experience intel has better linux support compared to amd
I very highly recommend a second computer/laptop with Linux installed, if you can afford it
and I so far saw no meaningful difference
but did more with Intel, and it seems fine, yes
i see
I did faced some issue
like abrupt crash of system program
or else
I encountered this exclusively with Ubuntu on Intel or [I don't remember the name of that ARM chip] systems
multiple times
Enterprise π
He he
so far my favourite CPU-related issue is that I can't run MongoDB on one of the systems I have
the only thing I can't run because of the CPU
Imagine troubleshooting
i'll try it out though a bootable usb for now
it literally doesn't start
MongoDB requires certain CPU features
which aren't present on some CPUs as recent as 2017
try it out but I would not recommend you to switch your workspace in linux completely without prior knowledge
hmm
Make sure your hardware component are compatible with linux
because you ain't using desktop, you can't change your hardware
@jade ibex Which flavour of linux do you intend to try?
I don't know much about fedora, but it is good for beginner
This would be helpful
it doesn't matter which linux you use.
as @whole bear points out, you start with learning the shell and commandline.
that part is the same for all distros, fedora or otherwise.
ill test it out in the bootable drive to see how i like it
will decide after trying it out for some time
Try it out, I find it much more convenient
compared to reddit post
it is much more time efficient to learn from book
I fully concur, align and agree with your answer.
Unfortunately books are out-of-style and considered old-fashioned.
But they are the BEST resource for learning.
Exactly
I find out about it in hard way
wasting most of time on youtube and reddit
eventually I understood
there is no better source but book, documentation or forums

My assignment says request sheets of paper, then divide them

I have 0 clue how to even type that
Idle
I use IDLE too
What
I can copy paste it 1 sec
It's also code editor?
For the stamp calculator algorithm, create and submit the flowchart, IPO chart, Hierarchy chart, and Pseudocode. You can submit your work in MS Word, MS Visio, or another visual tool, or as a picture of handwritten work. You DO NOT have to submit a program at this time.
- Request sheets of paper
- Divide by 5
- Round quotient up to next whole number
- Reply with number of stamps
Or so it's better then vs code editor ?
am I cooked?

!d math.ceil
math.ceil(x)```
Return the ceiling of *x*, the smallest integer greater than or equal to *x*. If *x* is not a float, delegates to [`x.__ceil__`](https://docs.python.org/3/reference/datamodel.html#object.__ceil__), which should return an [`Integral`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/numbers.html#numbers.Integral) value.
I was about to ask about recursion in Python; if you can quickly simplify it for me, that would be great.
It's okay
I think I know what it's asking I just don't know how to write it
Yeahhh
Sheets of paper = x basically then x/5?
!d input
input()``````py
input(prompt)```
If the *prompt* argument is present, it is written to standard output without a trailing newline. The function then reads a line from input, converts it to a string (stripping a trailing newline), and returns that. When EOF is read, [`EOFError`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#EOFError) is raised. Example...
!d int

For the stamp calculator algorithm, create and submit the flowchart, IPO chart, Hierarchy chart, and Pseudocode. You can submit your work in MS Word, MS Visio, or another visual tool, or as a picture of handwritten work. You DO NOT have to submit a program at this time.
- Request sheets of paper
- Divide by 5

fr thank you for be my side @whole bear
Yes
bro , can you give me any video based tutuorial ?
When you get new Phone or Computer, don't you get text based manually
it is similar to that
ohh
yes it is but its difficult to understand
Give up on programming because, you have to read documentation at some point
Video won't help
Creator or contributor to language present instruction in form of documentation.
Every video tutorial follow this very docuementation or forum
video may help a bit, but, yes, you will have to do a lot of reading
Simple answer, I don't remmeber
oooookie
somewhat important note there
I've shared the same tutorial
yes he did
(as in the answer to this)
of course
i am new to programming
CS50
whats that
((also I've just realised that Python was at least sixth language for me, which is a bit at odds with how it's often recommended as the first language))
Cool?
lemme explore it so I can understand what exactly it is

I started with video tutorials, but quickly found that books and documentation provide much better sources of information. Give them a shot. There are plenty of book recommendations on Pythons documentation page. https://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonBooks
okay bro
its beginner friendly , Thankyou
your welcome
Dammmmmmm
π₯
now works
I'll be leaving in 45 minutes
also attempting to code something finally
(or even less)
as in leaving the house in 45 minutes not leaving VC
code needs to be coded
Bro I started learning form the text based tutorials and its actually better then those video tutorials XD

sigh
Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more,
Men were deceivers ever;
One foot in sea, and one on shore,
To one thing constant never.
Then sigh not so,
But let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into Hey nonny, nonny.
Sing no more ditties, sing no mo
Of dumps so dull and heavy;
The fraud of men was ever so,
Since summer first was leavy.
Then sigh not so,
But let them go,
And be you blithe and bonny,
Converting all your sounds of woe
Into Hey nonny, nonny.```

If you see me on voice chat, that usually, though not always, means I'm available to be bothered by people asking questions.
I'm realising more and more just how much I don't know how to just teach programming to people starting from scratch
How much do these lessons cost?
We don't charge.
How can I enter?
