How is this rendered in the game? The file(tile-map/sheet?) that's outputted by this program is loaded as a sprite-sheet? Then you just have a user-controlled camera panning over the tile-map? You're using pygame if I remember correctly?
im here

Hey Shane!
Pretty good! I just woke from a nap lol
Yeah! We used to get up to all kindsa trouble lol
spill the beans
Oooh, last project I made was a cash balancing utility for work.
I had to do a lot of large sums of cash validation and made a tool that allowed me to enter quantities of bills and coins so it would give me the cumulative totals.
Basically instead of going 20, 40, 60, 80 when counting 20 dollar bills. I could just enter the stack total.
Basically, I could go, I have 150 $20 bills. I could plug in the quantity to get the overall total.
math
though you would still need to count the stack unless there is a way to make it way easier
i feel like you could do this without python
with just a calculator
unless youre working with absurd amount of money
I had it originally done in excel, but I wanted to try out a nifty lil project since I'm new to Python
a calculator will work fine
oh
Calculator is more tedious though
My staff would usually validate their individual bags using calculators/excel/tenkey. This made it easier for me when it got to my office. I could sort all of the bills by their denomination and just plug in the quantities. It would then generate a PDF report that I would sign and the cashiers would sign.
Our ERP had a feature that kind of worked, but it only did on a "batch by batch" basis. So I would have to individually balance each cashier's drawer 1 by 1.
This script would let you cover all bases in one fell swoop!
ahh
nice
@onyx arrow bro you just came back

Dude used to write apps on his TI-84 Plus when we were in high school instead of listening to our teachers :p
now thats something
i just realised the other day i can code on it
but realised it would be for naught and a hassle
Oh it is not for naught and hassle
It was always neat seeing what he'd cook up
You can code it to solve the math equations you learn in math class
Which is what I did any time we learned something new
Then I would use my programs to solve the math equations on the test in a breeze
I'm not recommending you try it, but it definitely worked for me
which just means i need to write down step by step how i got the answer and without decimals
I spent the rest of the time playing Tetris on my TI-84 + SE
and for exams they put it in exam mode
which removes all those
and leaves the basics
You can archive the programs so that when the memory is cleared the archived programs aren't removed
don't let any of your teachers see this.

Which is what I did
some people are just built different
Not encouraging you to "cheat" or anything
i dont really cheat
i like being able to accomplish things on my own
But my teacher had an inkling and figured if I could program my calculator to solve the problem then i must've understood the material enough lol
I mean, it's true though lol
to build it you need to understand
And I mostly did it because it was fun to make the programs
I've been counting your messages Shane to see when you get voice verfied lmao
I think I'm getting close.
Yes!

I'm so clooooose
It requires that people engage in some social interaction and demonstrate some patience before they can use the voice chat here.
There were previous abuses. People screaming, shouting racial slurs, playing loud music, etc etc.
It makes sense. I'm in another public discord and VC is utter chaos. Lot's of edge lords trying to be funny.
Those sorts of people don't tend to have the patience.
It is a really great filter, I must admit.
It's inconvenient, but not insurmountable.
I understand now. Thank you for explaining it so well :)

science
Honestly, that may have been my response after everyone recovered lol
I think it was actually!
hahaha
"science"
What's bad was it was a glass coke bottle filled with ash, and cigarette butts and liquid.
To clarify! Not my ash and cancer stick remains.
A few of my friends lived in my house at the time used it for such purposes.
Good times were had by all.
Safety squints work too!
I think I expected the liquid to put out the bottle rocket. It in fact, did not put out the bottle rocket.
As it turns out, fuses are rather rambunctious.
And water proof too!
Hey!
Slurs in general, really.
Yes.
Look at the ctypes module and also look at Cython.
But also look at things like Pypy and Numba.
For me, so long as it has syntax highlighting, I'm okay.

I can do without it, but...
I don't like it.
Same! I refuse to write code without syntax highlighting

Linear interpolation has been used since antiquity for filling the gaps in tables. Suppose that one has a table listing the population of some country in 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000, and that one wanted to estimate the population in 1994. Linear interpolation is an easy way to do this. It is believed that it was used in the Seleucid Empire (last three centuries BC) and by the Greek astronomer and mathematician Hipparchus (second century BC). A description of linear interpolation can be found in the ancient Chinese mathematical text called The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art (九章算術),[1] dated from 200 BC to AD 100 and the Almagest (2nd century AD) by Ptolemy.
The basic operation of linear interpolation between two values is commonly used in computer graphics. In that field's jargon it is sometimes called a lerp (from linear interpolation). The term can be used as a verb or noun for the operation. e.g. "Bresenham's algorithm lerps incrementally between the two endpoints of the line."
Lerp operations are built into the hardware of all modern computer graphics processors. They are often used as building blocks for more complex operations: for example, a bilinear interpolation can be accomplished in three lerps. Because this operation is cheap, it's also a good way to implement accurate lookup tables with quick lookup for smooth functions without having too many table entries. ```https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_interpolation
!d csv
Source code: Lib/csv.py
The so-called CSV (Comma Separated Values) format is the most common import and export format for spreadsheets and databases. CSV format was used for many years prior to attempts to describe the format in a standardized way in RFC 4180. The lack of a well-defined standard means that subtle differences often exist in the data produced and consumed by different applications. These differences can make it annoying to process CSV files from multiple sources. Still, while the delimiters and quoting characters vary, the overall format is similar enough that it is possible to write a single module which can efficiently manipulate such data, hiding the details of reading and writing the data from the programmer.
!d pandas.DataFrame.to_csv
DataFrame.to_csv(path_or_buf=None, *, sep=',', na_rep='', float_format=None, columns=None, header=True, index=True, index_label=None, mode='w', encoding=None, ...)```
Write object to a comma-separated values (csv) file.
!d pandas.read_csv
pandas.read_csv(filepath_or_buffer, *, sep=<no_default>, delimiter=None, header='infer', names=<no_default>, index_col=None, usecols=None, dtype=None, engine=None, ...)```
Read a comma-separated values (csv) file into DataFrame.
Also supports optionally iterating or breaking of the file into chunks.
Additional help can be found in the online docs for [IO Tools](https://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/user_guide/io.html).

Me too
apparently i need to send 50 messages
A conversation requirement. 🙂
they probably shouldve added an alternative time joined requirement
Yeah I got the same message
Them's the rules.
i dont really type in servers. i just have them in case i need resources lmao
That exists alongside.,
but someone type to me so i can get thru these 50 messages
I quite like the current voice gate
i understand. just suggestions
Fewer slurs. Less loud music.
Ive seen allot of stuff here that peeked my interest but couldn't speak
idc enough. im just getting thru these 50 messages. idk what im at now but more type
For me, it's mostly the screamers and mic blowers.
You could type
yeah but like i said man, u can have an alternative for lurkers
and had you typed, you'd have gotten to the 50 messages sooner 🙂
anyone know how to use smartsheet?
The requirement is not insurmountable.
typing to the people in voice chat is the easiest way to hit 50 messages
i dont think ur getting it but its not that big of a deal to me so
one conversation will easily pass the bar
Could type but don't want to spam the server with random conversations lol
That's what this channel is for
Yes. It is flawed. It's annoying.
I don't really see the flaws as described
But it's better than the alternative.
well thats because you're considering one style of discord users
Prior to the voice gating system, being in the voice chats was traumatic.
I think you can find helping hands here all the time
You're not wrong.
a lot of people are in lots of servers for resources but arent active in most. and some (like me) might join a python server for resources tagged in chats and not type for months
I don't like the voice gate. I will defend it vigorously because I know what it was like without it.
I love the voice gate
and if they have a simple question, its not really worth it to many to have to type 50 messages instead of just going on google or prompting until they get an answer. they're bound to hit it before 50 messages
They can ask their simple question via text.
again, i dont think you're getting it, but it doesnt really matter to me because im just using this convo to get to the 50 so i can pop in here and ask questions in the future
Yes. We know.
You can type right now we can give it a try
This is code, we generally share text
its not life or death, but the system is inconvenient for sure
Yes. It is.
do you know smart sheet
Damn no
all good. thats why i opened the server up lmao. ive been in here for months
voice-chat-0 is not "tech-support-0"
The help system is for help, the voice chat is for chatting about anything and everything
In seriousness, though, I have a degree of misophonia, and having people scream directly into my ear hurts on both a physical level and a psychological level.
obviously, but people might join a python server ot connect with others who are familiar using python or python based systems
It happened every fifteen or so minutes.
the voice gate prevents people from joining the server and immediately derailing a covnersation insiting someone fix their hello world
most discord servers arent tech support, but people still join communities of shared interests for assistance. thats just human nature
People asking for help isn't so much what we take issue with.
Which the voice gate does not prevent at all
whatsoever
I'm not even IN voice chat but I'm here, chatting with y'all, in voice chat
again, i think you're basing this on your personal wants and needs and not really considering other people
it seems very closed minded, and i hope you can look outward in the future
lol
sure thing boss, I can't see the "need" to immediatley be able to get in voice
so I can't consider other people
i understand your frustrations but you're advocating for your hello world in spite of other people's hello world
What does that even mean?
if you cant consider why somebody using discord, the app that replaced teamspeak for ease of access voice chat, would want to join a server and... voice chat... idk what to tell you
The voice gate was not implemented to hedge out people asking for help.
Keep going you might complete you're 50 right now @sinful nimbus
lol yeah idk why he thinks that. thats all im saying
😂
I don't think thsat
the gate is to stop people from mic spamming and screaming slurs. but you're here advocating for the gate because you dont want people to derail your conversation
thats very self centered man, idk how you dont see that
To be fair, people derailing conversations is an issue.
Yea, the mic screaming is derailing as well
not sure how you don't see that
can you show some respect please?
did i say its flawed for derailing mic screaming
LMFAO
show you respect? ill just stop interacting with you man. you have a good day.
Now I think you gonna get banned instead of mic access😂
it was quite easy, not an inconvenience 🙂
if that's enough to ban me, then i dont think the community is worth being in.
but im at 38 messages
I usually listen to people here
I am sure you can get help
Keep replying you're getting there
eh it's fine. it wasnt major. i just figured id pop in here and see if anyone knew the answer. it was something i was dealing with like 2 days ago. its nothing thats urgent

You can do it, but there's a trick to it
what is the trick
I used to know what the trick was, but then they changed what the trick is, now everything seems weird and scary to me. IT'LL HAPPEN TO YOU!
that would be quite difficult to implement.

Im running "current file"
what do you guys use?
im using pycharm
Ill try do it on vsc
OpalMist sounds so familiar, almost like a youtuber ive watched before haha
Im transitioning from video editing to programming, I would say programming is at another level of 'convolution'
Good news
No more balls in the pygame
bad news, window opens and instantly quits
hmm
its the problem with the def function
The things under aren't a child to that
or whatever you call it
I changed it to event
then deleted the two lines
now I have this situation
Run = true doesnt have the line on the left that indicates it is getting affected by def main()
I cant seem to find the problem, ill try with VSC since I havnt gotten far anyways
Ill rewrite the code according to the tutorial
Ill thoroughly check
thx for the help

@gentle flint do you want to join vc?
@gentle flint do you think it is worth it to get a Bachelor in Informatika at the open universiteit ? Part time it would take about 6 years.
@upper basin could you brief me a little what we are seeing here? I just joined
Adding unit testers for my package.
If I am lucky, I'll finish it today and tomorrow I can work on features.
Amazing. All the best!
Is this Shapez.io?
@upper basin What is MPS?
matrix product state
It's a tensor network which is used to approximate a vector using low-rank approximation (thanks to SVD, singular value decomposition).
Does it mean it represents a chain of tensors?
It essentially takes a vector of dimension 2^N (for my case, otherwise generally d^N), and applies SVD with bond dimension chi to each site (there are N sites). Then you choose a direction, and canonicalize (absorb the diagonals from SVD into the tensors at each site) to get an isometry.
Result is a tensor network with N sites, each site being of dimension chi x 2 x chi, aka 2 chi^2. So, instead of 2^N, you get 2N chi^2. If you keep chi constant (which is the parameter used for controlling the fidelity of the approximation) then the number of parameters is 2N. So, the scaling becomes O(N).
So, you go from O(2^N) to O(N).
Yes.
This is fascinating. I was mainly used to single wavefunctions.
Yeah that would be the 2^N one.
Aka a dense vector.
MPS lets you approximate the dense vector with a 1d low-rank tensor network.
It's a great tool for simulation of tensor contractions, but for my case I use it to perform quantum state preparation with exponentially smaller circuit depth.
I want to give it a try. From which library did you call it?
So you would require fewer gates right?
The MPS one? quimb.
!pypi quimb
Yes.
Amazing and thanks.

Do you do quantum computing?
I be the first who implemented it arrrr.
So, jokes aside not many know about it.
No. However I try to learn more about it every weekend.
Gotcha.
Guess I will follow your discord streams now and then if its alright. Take care.
Gotta run
Could you suggest some resources I can study more of this?

looks great.
anyone smart with coding willing to take 10-15 mins out theyre day to help me with a video game bot? i basically got it working besides the tracking needs to be better and i need to figure out how to determine exactly when to attack. its a old school 2d game called endless so it cant be too hard.
Thank you!
