Not many birds can compare to the vocal range of the Australian lyrebird, and Taronga Zoo's lyrebird, Echo, is no exception. The zoo says Echo has the ability to replicate a variety of calls, but itsย perfect impersonation of a crying baby is perhaps not the pleasant day at the zoo parents would be hoping for

@south loom yeah (almost)
when using AI, reference multiple different models
otherwise it's like a singular junior dev that happens to know many things with somewhat limited understanding
I think AI should be used when you try to get the General Idea of what you are looking for
it's quite biased, like anyone or anything
I don't trust it even for overview or general ideas
For the simple stuff it's relatively alright, but something a bit complex it starts halucinating
i think of it a really intelligent search engine directing you to something you might be looking for
never heard of it
@south loom it's way past its peak popularity

mYFunCTiON
i use camelCase when i try to do any kind of web-dev(mostly server side)
Camel case
Words are joined together without spaces, and each word starts with a capital letter. This is used in Go, JavaScript, Java, and C# for variable and function names.
Pascal case
Similar to camel case, but the first letter is also capitalized. This is used in Go, C#, Java, and TypeScript for class and type names.
Snake case
Words are separated by underscores, and typically, all letters are lowercase. This is used in Python, Ruby, and JavaScript for variable and function names.
Kebab case
Words are separated with hyphens, and all letters are typically lowercase. This is used in HTML and CSS for class names, file names, and URLs.
Train case
Also known as the HTTP header case, this is formed by capitalizing the words' first letter and separating them with a hyphen. This is used in HTTP header requests and responses.
Flat case
All words are put together in all lower case. This is used in HTML for elements and attributes, such as <textarea> and tabindex.
Choosing the right naming convention can improve code readability, maintainability, and collaboration.

Hey peeps
I'm looking for a solution to my problem from a while ago where I'm needing to differentiate python packages for two different ubuntu versions (focal vs. jammy). I've done a lot of testing and found that I don't think this is possible with environment markers in pip https://peps.python.org/pep-0508/. The solution I've landed on is storing a focal version and a jammy version of my package package-a in two different pypi repos, and targeting the correct repo from user side. Ideally, I'd like to make the first approach work - if anybody can assist here with any possible solution I'd very much appreciate it. ๐

COBOL seems to be compiled

Hi, Iโm docker/containers and solution to all of this.
I'm not doing anything financial with code
Not wrong
if the package depends on the ubuntu version, something has gone very wrong
We can't just run containers on these machines, they're a various range of funky low resource / sensor hardware boxes. So not sure how that would even help
But they have enough hardware to run Ubuntu?
Yep, but until we resolve the differences in the underlying C components - I'm looking for a nice way to differentiate at build time
Environmental variables?
Containers are extremely light
It's more so about the need to speak to other connected bits of hardware, so requiring an interface between the docker env -> host hardware -> connected hardware would incur a lot of work too
wait, this is going to be we decided to something insane, so we need to do more insane to cover first insane thing and we are building insanity Matryoshka doll
Just give Docker access to hardware
@rugged root there may be no reasonable way to prove it publicly
Can't prove what didn't happen
it fundamentally relies on difference compared to what others know
and backtesting proves basically nothing
it happens
Environmental variables are the only thing I can think of off the top of my head
Just set up something in the system as you assemble the machine and then you just have that sitting there when things need to target it
don't see how that would help either. initially i was looking for a solution within python packaging spec, so that we didn't have to add targeting logic on host machines
assuming you meant env vars that include the index to point at. that would work but was looking for a build time solution basically. it's okay, i'll go for another approach
I'm rereading your question, I think I understood it wrong
Short of having a singular library that checks to see the system version to know what dependencies to grab...
Maybe the answer is that this isn't a feature because it should never be needed, as I've not found much discourse about it. I'm going to look into improving the build process, maybe there's a way to circumvent this
JSON Derulo is the best name ive seen in a long time.
That's actually funny as heck.

how do i ensure that it goes into the post? do I download the file and attach it ?
So is the issue that Focal and Jammy need different things entirely? Or is it that Focal needs things that Jammy has but not the other way around?
yep, focal and jammy need slightly different C components that are built differently. we haven't yet worked out a way to build these into a singular package as the target machine expects a lot of singular links to be in place that wouldn't be with a dynamic approach.

not just "ะฑะตะปัะน"

in BY, "ะฐ" is used for word formation
in RU, "ะพ"
in English, the equivalent would be to combine it with a hyphen

the main thing that happens with that sort of VPN is the change of default gateway
with something like OpenVPN, whether that happens or not is configurable

In this video, I conduct a mock Google coding interview with a Facebook Software Engineer, SecondThread, who's also a competitive programmer. As a Google Software Engineer, I interviewed dozens of candidates. This is exactly the type of coding interview that you would get at Google, Facebook, or any other big tech company.
Check out @SecondThre...
Ugh, this guy
this time Ruby-generated not Go-generated
I wonder why some are indented and some aren't
Most of these kinds of coding interview problems fall into a handful of different categories. So it's mostly a matter of identifying the problem class (binary search, depth-first search, dynamic programming, etc.), then pattern matching the problem, then applying the standard algorithm to the problem, and then implementing it in code. The harder questions might require some lateral thinking or some kind of trick to solve, or might require you to combine two different algorithms.
So you can definitely get better at these things through practice.

!d sys.setrecursionlimit
sys.setrecursionlimit(limit)```
Set the maximum depth of the Python interpreter stack to *limit*. This limit prevents infinite recursion from causing an overflow of the C stack and crashing Python.
The highest possible limit is platform\-dependent. A user may need to set the limit higher when they have a program that requires deep recursion and a platform that supports a higher limit. This should be done with care, because a too\-high limit can lead to a crash.
If the new limit is too low at the current recursion depth, a [`RecursionError`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#RecursionError) exception is raised.
Changed in version 3\.5\.1: A [`RecursionError`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#RecursionError) exception is now raised if the new limit is too low at the current recursion depth.
If you're hitting the recursion depth limit, increasing the depth limit isn't likely to fix the problem unless you know what's going on.
do you have permission from the servers' owners and users?
what do i use to code java or python
Nope
It's sounding very.... self-botty
Not working
im just curious ngl
what line is it failing on?
i wanna learn how
not entirely clear from the screenshot
Shameless plug
whats that??
The GitHub repo you mentioned includes a heatmap generator, but that has nothing to do with the RecursionError: maximum recursion depth exceeded error you encountered. This type of error is usually caused by limitations of the Python code itself or by a very deep recursive function call resulting in an infinite loop.
can you send the traceback?
We're just riffing about something we talked about earlier
Auto-generate API documentation for Python projects from docstrings in numpydoc, Google, or plain Markdown format.

what do i use to code java??

Okay, back to the van to head home
@gentle flint you can also publish to github.io by pushing build artifacts
^ @wraith pelican
you can use idea / eclipse as a beginner mentioned above as both do alot of things for you
Idea is going to be a smoother experience but some advanced features will be locked behind a paywall,
Ecelipse gives you full features and alot of good plugins but it looks and feels very old in terms of its ui
VSCode is also a valid option once you reach an intermediate / advanced level later on and are comfortable running / configuring build systems yourself (gradle / maven / ant)
This is my repo btw ๐ lets connect
https://github.com/CemRoot?tab=repositories
Im living in Dublin
๐
fish and chips?
is vscode good?
thank you
Eclipse's version of VSCode
https://theia-ide.org/
@gentle flint "empathic ability" is such a non-empathetic/psychopathic way to phrase that
just need to have ability, no need to apply it
its in russian or sum ๐ญ
vscode itself is very good if you use it but it is not specifically built just for java unlike idea / eclipse so it doesn't have a 100% feature coverage so for certain things you end up having to do a bit more manual work although rarely
the theia is in english for me ๐ฎ
you have opened an executable binary file in vscode
you need to open a .java file instead
how do i do that?
do you have any code or just starting out?
just starting:/
if you are just starting out i would recommend looking up a tutorial, book, course ,etc and follow along
if you just want to test wether you can run some java code you can make a file name it Main.java and put in this code and try to run
class Main {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello world!");
}
}
that worked
nice!
now probably look for some online / offline learning resource whichever you prefer ๐
book / course / youtube tutorials whatever works better for you
both i wanna learn it all
no offline / online i mean like a hard copy of a book (offline) or an online video or pdf (online) or something
books and youtube also courses is fine to

there was a situation where they likely asked/paid someone to get animal cruelty filmed with contents that are obviously staged
(the animal was hurt, but just so peta can use that footage, not for any practical reason)
inexcusable
even if they just "found" that footage, their misrepresentation is as inexcusable as if that was true
@cedar mason if you want real results, you need to first stop thinking in only populistic terms
@still pebble air conditioning doesn't raise land from under the sea
the serious issue is greenhouse gases
which can cause runaway temperature increase
@still pebble we caused it, so we could've prevented it
as the humanity as a whole
I've also heard an opinion that something like Siberia is going to "prosper" because it's going to be less frozen and stuff
, which is obviously wrong
if the things go on as they do now, Siberia is going to burn and die, it's already a terribly overheated place to be in during summer
but here we are anyways
now we can only deal with the consequences
Things to fix the climate per @cedar mason :
