Hello everyone,
I have build a demo Google Maps Scraper where user can provide search query and it will return first page results that we can download it as a CSV. I am open to any feedback how can I generate good passive revenue from it like selling Data As A Service - DAAS API. So I would be glad to discuss and scrutinize my idea.

@stark river what framework you using?
ooh nice
.
Just use Opine in Deno lol
import { opine } from "https://deno.land/x/opine@2.3.4/mod.ts";
const app = opine();
app.get("/", function (req, res) {
res.send("Hello World");
});
app.listen(3000, () =>
console.log("server has started on http://localhost:3000 ๐")
);
no need to use node if you don't have to, and there are two much better options now
nobody's ever gonna use deno
I've used it in production lol
In fact, it was labeled as the preferred runtime over node for the cloud and platform engineering business unit.

if you don't want to get charged with patent violation, first rule is:
don't read patents; ever
What version of Python are you using for that?
if you ever happen to write a patent, don't even proofread it
ffmpeg approach
Q: Does FFmpeg use patented algorithms?
A: We do not know, we are not lawyers so we are not qualified to answer this. Also we have never read patents to implement any part of FFmpeg, so even if we were qualified we could not answer it as we do not know what is patented. Furthermore the sheer number of software patents makes it impossible to read them all so no one (lawyer or not) could answer such a question with a definite no, those who do lie. <...>

ive tested chatgpt 4 for code and i have to keep telling it what its doing wrong and what i want it to do specifically and redo the prompt a whole bunch of times
and it hallucinates sometimes or doesnt listen

i think i tried some sort of thing with the custom GPT's where it writes a site and then deploys it with someone elses service in a URL
well if i tell it to do something earlier in a chat and then tell it to do something else it wont remember to do what i told it earlier in the chat
yeah with gpt 4 its WAY better than gpt3 and 4o

yeah im just looking up these things to catch up on what youre saying
Roslyn is Microsoft's "compiler as a platform" for C# and VB.NET. You can use it to read, analyze or modify existing code, or make squigglies in Visual Studio, or even generate and compile entirely new code at runtime because you're insane.
In this talk I'll introduce you to Roslyn, explain things like Workspaces, SyntaxTrees, SyntaxNodes and s...
I see
how much memorization do you say is needed for coding in general?
most things you'll learn by writing code;
trying to memorize things in advance without practice doesn't work as well
So after you know the basics are you like logicing out codes from you know your understanding of the code
?
you will have to figure out things as you go; and prior experience helps with that, yes
30%
that's better than it was
as for intentionally learning a language/programming in general, that depends on what you're aiming for:
- to have a comprehensive understanding (of the language itself, or of a specific topic)
- to have a minimal understanding enough to build some (specific) thing (for example, a website)
neither of the two cases expects the learner to memorize and retain everything
first one is to make you prepared when something unknown comes up (so that you have tools to approach it),
second one is to give you a general plan/guide for when you build the thing (with some rules of what not to do)
I see. Do you think this feild is still a good career path even with AI stuff developing
or is it too late for new people
AI isn't going to replace programmers any time soon;
it enhances capabilities of humans and lowers the barrier of entry into the field (if you understand correctly when not to use it, e.g. never rely on what it says)
as how that affects the job market -- depends on regional specifics, laws, etc.
AI is replacing programmers every day. Companies are already laying off countless people.
It won't replace programmers entirely, but it will shrink the number of bodies needed to get a job done.
eh,
that's definitely not the case where I live, at least
I see I get what Alisa is saying and yes I def see less people being required to do tasks that needed more people
big layoffs were happening even before AI being capable of writing code
because companies realised just how little employees were actually doing
End of ZIRP killed more jobs then AI
goodbye fellas it was great night
Could anyone help me debug my python i asked my dad and he asked me if i installed python correctly im pretty sure i did i will screen share but idk whats wrong
__init__ is initialiser
kind of like a constructor
super().__init__() calls the base's constructor
since Python doesn't have a special syntax for it
@fast gyro self is like this but passed in explicitly
there is no type-based C++-like overloading in Python
!d typing.overload
@typing.overload```
Decorator for creating overloaded functions and methods.
The `@overload` decorator allows describing functions and methods that support multiple different combinations of argument types. A series of `@overload`\-decorated definitions must be followed by exactly one non\-`@overload`\-decorated definition (for the same function/method).
`@overload`\-decorated definitions are for the benefit of the type checker only, since they will be overwritten by the non\-`@overload`\-decorated definition. The non\-`@overload`\-decorated definition, meanwhile, will be used at runtime but should be ignored by a type checker. At runtime, calling an `@overload`\-decorated function directly will raise [`NotImplementedError`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/exceptions.html#NotImplementedError).
@rare epoch comments are very hard to get right;
the way ChatGPT writes comments is as if it's trying to explain to a beginner
part of why real code doesn't have such comments is because they're just noise
@vocal basin thank you man
something like this could be viewed as "multiple constructors"
from typing import overload
class Example:
@overload
def __init__(self, a: int, b: int) -> None: ...
@overload
def __init__(self, a: str, b: str) -> None: ...
def __init__(self, a: int | str, b: int | str) -> None:
match a, b:
case int(), int():
self.ab = str(a + b)
case str(), str():
self.ab = a + b
case _:
raise TypeError
int, for example, is recognised by Pylance to have two overloads of a constructor
one for conversion and one for parsing
oh wow, nice, havent seen that one yet
but normally, it is not suggested... ๐
if might affect ur project if you do not know exactly what is going on
class int: # details omitted
@overload
def __init__(self, x: ConvertibleToInt = ..., /): ...
@overload
def __init__(self, x: str | bytes | bytearray, /, base: SupportsIndex): ...
in Python it's a very common thing to have conversion, parsing and copy be done in a constructor
especially when such constructor takes a single argument
SomeType(some_value) is expected to return an instance of SomeType if some_value can be meaningfully converted into it
dont know a lot about python L
kind of a "cast"
interesting
C++/C#/Java have the same conventions for that
whereas Rust, since it doesn't have a notion of a constructor at all, separates construction and conversion
SomeType::from(some_value) for conversion -- some_value can be of various types,
SomeType::new(some_argument) for construction -- some_argument is some specific type
::from is part of the core library, and new is just a convention
both Rust and Python also use fromsomething/from_something factory methods

hexadecimal (hex) sequence, and converting it to bytes can be ambiguous because its interpretation depends on the context.
well as it represent hexa
๐

haha
!d bytes.fromhex
classmethod fromhex(string)```
This [`bytes`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#bytes) class method returns a bytes object, decoding the given string object. The string must contain two hexadecimal digits per byte, with ASCII whitespace being ignored.
```py
>>> bytes.fromhex('2Ef0 F1f2 ')
b'.\xf0\xf1\xf2'
``` Changed in version 3\.7: [`bytes.fromhex()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#bytes.fromhex) now skips all ASCII whitespace in the string, not just spaces.

iso is pretty big , thats the issue
actually , i forgot how i installed fedora on wsl, i guess i used smthing called base image
https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix-linux/files/Final/antiX-23.1/antiX-23.1_x64-core.iso/download
antiX is a fast, lightweight and easy to install linux live CD distribution based on Debian Stable for Intel-AMD x86 compatible systems.
642.8 MB
oh, imma see
maybe thatd be good
i get only 1.5gb per day
mobile data?
hmm , ye
Hello World!
hello
Hello
@whole bear hi
hello
I am looking for information about making Android apps from Windows, using Python, I am unsure how to compile.
@whole bear sup
just playing minecraft
maybe, do you know about ocr and overlay
Optical character recognition and overlaying text/objects on images/videos?
overlay to apps
i need to read upc numbers and make a database table that can be viewed as history
oohh then i have no clue
the things you send might help, i need permissions
Can some1 help me make a Minecraft launcher or is it even possible
its possible
i just dont really know how to do user authentication
Is it easy medium hard
I want make pvp client
I want with disableable particles and a server list form recommended
well i cant really help with that stuff but im pretty sure you can find a tutorial on how to get 1.8.9 (i assume thats the version you want for pvp) forge working in eclipse
and maybe even a tutorial on making a pvp client
And a mc server is that hard to make the host ur self
not at all
But it is
just download the jar run it, set the eula to true and port forward
no theres no force op or anything
And custom ip how i get that
And people can dedoss it right
They did that to my old server
I had 1
And my dc got hack to they had acces to pc form the server
just get a domain and set your ip in the DNS record
?? i dont think thats from the server
log4j is patched so that shouldnt be an issue
i dont know
They had cmd
and also if your worried about DDOS just setup Cloudflare DNS
did you have a backdoor plugin?
what i mean is a malicious plugin on a server thats disguised as a real plugin
maybe you downloaded something without realizing it
CloudFlare has DDOS protection
Viabackwards viaverson 1.8 pvp and essential skript skript addon skbee
Noting else
Only portforward
maybe that
How i get Protection
Can i get it for free
yea
Its website
@umbral locust r u doing masters ? from US ?
filling in cells in some big table of what protocols support what messaging patterns
only 16 row so far
primarily for work; but there is no proprietary content inside so I'll release it as a GitHub Gist at some point
(maybe in a slightly reworded form)
for now it's just a big table and a big unordered list
stuff like this is quite unsearchable
I'm basing columns on what patterns ZeroMQ supports
except for Stream
and ZMQ_STREAM is renamed to Native
since "Stream" normally refers to semi-persistent pub-sub
"topic" is there because sometimes it's just fanout without actual subscriptions
or rather it can be, but everything I have there either supports subscriptions or doesn't support fanout
I made this before for one of the users here
https://gist.github.com/afeistel/d9c2da02816759dba3feee6abf6bb009
there are so many weird DBs out there
SurrealDB is alleged to have some serious performance issues, and they are very unwilling to release any benchmarks at all
tbf they only claim latency not throughput
speaking of that
CedarDB made outlandishly wrong remarks in their blog not just once but at least twice already
is their product functioning correctly and performing well? no one knows, there is no product yet
do I trust anything they say? definitely not
they had a blog entry arguing exceptions are, quote, "often a better way to handle errors than returning them as values"
which was filled with errors
tl;dr: exceptions have higher performance and less boilerplate code on the happy path
"exceptions lead to better error messages" section does not represent reality that well
it's way easier to add specific non-traceback context to errors in errors-as-values code
oh, and they're proudly declaring how little error handling they have
the ads I'm seeing have escaped far beyond my comprehension
well, given there's JavaScript, far beyond anyone's comprehension
@wind raptor Zig
yeah, yeah, was about to suggest that
just like Zig makes bindings to headers
I still don't entirely understand what, like, "boundaries" are of what Qt is
it's more of a giant framework extension to the standard library rather than just an UI thing
for no-implementation ABCs multi-inheritance is okay-ish
similar to Java/C# interfaces
the issues starts when there are collision in method names
I need

it seems a bit odd

btw Harvard Business School is looking for an SRE, and I'm tempted
Shoot for it.
On one hand, it's at Privilege University, on the other hand, I have two ins (my father and younger brother are both alumni) and it's a job.
Harvard would definitely give you some solid networking opportunities for better gigs.
Job's a job love. Just shoot for it.
Harvard looks good on a resume.
Okay i'll go for it. BTW your resume passed the ATS test.
I can now autofill from resume. I am very happy about that.
Once again, many thanks.,
What's the ATS test?
My absolute pleasure. I'd love to help anywhere I can.
Do let me know if you need help with anything.
I may have gotten the acronym wrong. But the AI Resume thingy that a lot of companies are doing these days. Apparently you can tell if the resume is compatible if you can autofill.
Okay yeah the acronym is ATS
