currently getting this error. despite having downloaded the module in pip. I've checked the environmental variable and it the pip path is in that list so it shouldn't be a pathing issue. the most odd thing about this error is that when I try to import the same module using the python command line it works just fine.

Gudi Padwa is a Hindu festival marking the start of the lunar new year. People hoist a Gudi, a decorated flag-like structure, and celebrate with rituals, traditional food, and festivities. It commemorates Lord Rama's coronation and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity.

Damn it's been over a decade since I last heard OCRemix...
i once watched a total solar eclipse.. the sky went dark.. the birds started flapping every which way.. probably confused how it became night all of a sudden.. i even sneaked a peek of the eclipse.. although i was terrified bc of the warnings and just looked up for a millisecond

how can I create a function in c++ class which will create and return the deep copy of the class instance. @vocal basin
Hi @median geode.
I am Also Indian.
what differentiates a deep copy from a shallow copy, in your case?
are you using shared pointers?
because that's the only way to end up with a shallow copy
generally, instances are copied by a copy constructor and copy assignment operator
if you don't need a custom destructor, those can be provided by the compiler
Copy of Every thing even the copy of the pointer with the data at that position.
No.
are you using raw pointers?
Yep
why?
Dont Know
what version of C++ are you using?
yeah, then you can (and probably should) use unique_ptr and shared_ptr instead of raw pointers, except for integration with C code
copying unique_ptr causes copying the data
copying shared_ptr doesn't
or rather it won't allow copying by default
I am New to it How can I use the unique_ptr.
I don't know if there's a tutorial for it, I normally just read cppreference:
https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/memory/unique_ptr
No No I am Integrating the c++ code which c for c-python api.
if you need to clone PyObject* or whatever other thing you didn't create, you'll have to somehow call python code (you can't solve that purely in C++ context)
I am Using ctypes.
for most of the C++ code, copying is (or can be) provided by the compiler
using extern "C" for function acess.
@vocal basin Send Me Friend Requuest.
Why.

Rust allows having macros, values (including functions), types all with the same name in one scope
I'm gradually realising just how prevalent that is
Macros I get

traits and macros often have the same name because of derive
yes
all tuple struct types are also functions with the same name

Tutorial
This page contains the API reference information. For a more gentle introduction to Python command-line parsing, have a look at the argparse tutorial.
The argparse module makes it easy to write user-friendly command-line interfaces. The program defines what arguments it requires, and argparse will figure out how to parse those out of sys.argv. The argparse module also automatically generates help and usage messages. The module will also issue errors when users give the program invalid arguments.
parser = argparse.ArgumentParser()
parser.add_argument(
"command",
choices=(
"get",
"write",
"check",
),
)
parser.add_argument("args", nargs="*")
this or something different?
kwargs?
ah
I thought just a dumb general solution was required
otherwise yes, you need to have subcommands or whatever
add_subparsers
ugh
how to link to those docs
!d argparse.ArgumentParser.add_subparsers
ArgumentParser.add_subparsers([title][, description][, prog][, parser_class][, action][, option_strings][, dest][, required][, help][, metavar])```
Many programs split up their functionality into a number of sub-commands, for example, the `svn` program can invoke sub-commands like `svn checkout`, `svn update`, and `svn commit`. Splitting up functionality this way can be a particularly good idea when a program performs several different functions which require different kinds of command-line arguments. [`ArgumentParser`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/argparse.html#argparse.ArgumentParser) supports the creation of such sub-commands with the [`add_subparsers()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/argparse.html#argparse.ArgumentParser.add_subparsers) method. The [`add_subparsers()`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/argparse.html#argparse.ArgumentParser.add_subparsers) method is normally called with no arguments and returns a special action object. This object has a single method, `add_parser()`, which takes a command name and any [`ArgumentParser`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/argparse.html#argparse.ArgumentParser) constructor arguments, and returns an [`ArgumentParser`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/argparse.html#argparse.ArgumentParser) object that can be modified as usual.
ig I just mistyped earlier
parse args in Rust, then extract it into Python
I have no idea how actually easy/hard it is to link Rust into Python
need help solving this problem, i need to grab all the hot post on reddit using the reddit public API, can't seem to get all, instead i am only getting the hot post of the current page, but i need all the pages of hot posts.
getattr(__main__, args.command)(**vars(args))
file.py: error: argument command: invalid choice: 'command' (choose from 'get', 'write', 'check')
TypeError: get() got an unexpected keyword argument 'command'
here is the code i currently have
import requests
def get_hot_articles(subreddit):
url = f"https://www.reddit.com/r/{subreddit}/hot.json"
headers = {'User-Agent': 'Mozilla/5.0'}
params = {'limit': 100}
response = requests.get(url, headers=headers, params=params)
if response.status_code == 200:
data = response.json()
articles = data.get('data', {}).get('children', [])
if articles:
# Extract titles of hot articles
return [article['data']['title'] for article in articles]
else:
return None # No hot articles found for the given subreddit
else:
print("Error:", response.status_code)
return None
lmao
... and then there's syn
which uses function-type collision for a different reason
@jade hinge can I parse args from parent parser and subparser separately?
e.g.
file_args = parser.parse_args()
func_args = func_subparser.parse_args()
@rugged root mind helping out?
Reddit doesn't want you scraping their site. From the user agreement in the "Things you cannot do" section:
Access, search, or collect data from the Services by any means (automated or otherwise) except as permitted in these Terms or in a separate agreement with Reddit (we conditionally grant permission to crawl the Services in accordance with the parameters set forth in our robots.txt file, but scraping the Services without Reddit’s prior written consent is prohibited); or
https://www.redditinc.com/policies/user-agreement-september-25-2023
thats a skill issue on their end for not allowing that
nah im just joking thats reasonable
ouch!, do i need to create an authentication key @rugged root to be able to access all the hot post
or in a Python ecosystem project
Ohh so packages using python count?
vending machine hot dogs?
Hey
someone got gnome 1 running on modern linux
@rugged root "hotdogs so safely preserved they'll even outlast you"
14 days to implement the project
2 years to practice presenting it
Documentation is the Worst Part of the Opensource.
Every Part is worst in Non-Open Source. @radis
closed source software may have open-source docs
I think Microsoft does that sometimes
I think all of us hate writing Documentation.
not really
I've seen a lot of good docs
especially in Rust ecosystem
there it comes from tooling
sory i dident type writing.
for writing -- I have even less complaints
it's sadder when the language/tools provide no in-IDE way to see it
e.g. when working on C/C++

having doc links just work is large part of Rust's thing
rust-analyzer still sometimes forgets to highlight them
even when it recognises the link
there was a period recently where that feature broke on docs.rs
but it got fixed
so now you can again link to any item in scope and it will just find what it is
there should be PEP for the universal python docstring formating guideline.
!pep 257
somewhat informal seems like
But Not as detailed as PEP 8
pep8 isn't a spec either
I also have the auto generated doc.

both are guidelines/conventions not protocols
@wind raptor have you ever extended Sphinx's Makefile with custom steps/stuff?
I added commands there to generate a more or less comprehensive trace of what the program does
(that gets put into a >1000 code block)

My Worst Mistake in Life was learning python befor c/cpp/rust.
from 1 month I am finding out how to copy class in c++
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You ah... You alright there ALKK
How do you figure?
It's a progression of concepts.
Learning C++ first would be like learning Algebraic Topology before learning Calculus.
what the hell is happening so many people
Hanging out, probably coding stuff
Damn you Hemlock HEHEHE
can yome one help me with some code
What's the isssue you're having?
also i dont know how to send the code into the dc server it wont alow me seending it
SQLBolt provides a set of interactive lessons and exercises to help you learn SQL
previous = ""

previous += f'{dialogue["author"]}: {dialogue["content"]}\n'
print(previous)
trying to use Kivy and make a learning app for myself but its complected and also i have almost no experiance with codingits my 4 day of coding also i m almost done with the app
this looks so soft
previous = ""
message_history = await check_reply(message)
if message_history:
for dialogue in message_history:
previous = f'{dialogue["author"]}: {dialogue["content"]}\n' + previous
print(previous)
Yeahhhh making a GUI this early is going to be tough
GUI's are a pain
If the code is big enough, you'll probably want to use our pastebin
!paste
If your code is too long to fit in a codeblock in Discord, you can paste your code here:
https://paste.pythondiscord.com/
After pasting your code, save it by clicking the Paste! button in the bottom left, or by pressing CTRL + S. After doing that, you will be navigated to the new paste's page. Copy the URL and post it here so others can see it.
I usually say Gooey
GUX
Less syllables
its the last label i m so close i already have all the functions
i just ssspell it out
hello hemlock

transliteration to Russian is funny because it's almost a swear word
I thought "yep" was similar
cool my password is churka

there's a pronunciation difference е/ё which isn't captured there
ё is written as е often
district
wait what
are you s = d + sing
that's cursed
unoptimised
pain
idk
measure
how many lines?
yeah, why not make a list then concat
this is square
this is linear
yes
it's not +=
what
obviously not insert to 0
append
then reverse
then join
this feels way worse
enumeration?
(what are we anagramming)
ENUMERATION
I am 16 I still havent learn calculus.
@rugged root it wont let me send the code in the dc server is it okay for you if i send it to you directly
Here is an example anagram: GENERALISED and LEGENDARIES
@rugged root I think this is better than either solution
no as a .txt thing cause the bot is telling me to send it like that
maybe 200 lines of code are to much
!paste

the word even has 6 meanings listed
should i cook something today or order out? 🤔
cook

omelette it is
no that's not an anagram of enumeration
it still dosent work
!d itertools
This module implements a number of iterator building blocks inspired by constructs from APL, Haskell, and SML. Each has been recast in a form suitable for Python.
The module standardizes a core set of fast, memory efficient tools that are useful by themselves or in combination. Together, they form an “iterator algebra” making it possible to construct specialized tools succinctly and efficiently in pure Python.
For instance, SML provides a tabulation tool: tabulate(f) which produces a sequence f(0), f(1), .... The same effect can be achieved in Python by combining map() and count() to form map(f, count()).
class collections.Counter([iterable-or-mapping])```
A [`Counter`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.Counter) is a [`dict`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/stdtypes.html#dict) subclass for counting [hashable](https://docs.python.org/3/glossary.html#term-hashable) objects. It is a collection where elements are stored as dictionary keys and their counts are stored as dictionary values. Counts are allowed to be any integer value including zero or negative counts. The [`Counter`](https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.html#collections.Counter) class is similar to bags or multisets in other languages.
Elements are counted from an *iterable* or initialized from another *mapping* (or counter):
```py
>>> c = Counter() # a new, empty counter
>>> c = Counter('gallahad') # a new counter from an iterable
>>> c = Counter({'red': 4, 'blue': 2}) # a new counter from a mapping
>>> c = Counter(cats=4, dogs=8) # a new counter from keyword args
for anagrams, absolutely useful
Fair point
"quite sure that was microservicing not subprocessing even if I wasn't present for that conversation"
I get those two mixed up sometimes
huh
run it from the Summ... directory, provide full path.
ext is a placeholder name for now until I think of a better name.
I did have some shortcuts so I didn't have to check every single word, like only checking words of the same length that begin with a letter in the word you're checking
from cogs.ext.utils import *
or from .ext.utils import * -- but that has less chance of working
wait
go to project settings and add SummerLifeManager as source dir
hmmm..(i dont understand a single word.)
does anyone have a good source for learning python (it better be free)
The Resources page on our website contains a list of hand-selected learning resources that we regularly recommend to both beginners and experts.
!resources We have a bunch on our site. I typically recommend "A Byte of Python", which is free on its respective site
not worth, learn cobol
C# is somewhat more ergonomic than Java
there is one reasonable excuse, that Java has and that I know of:
checked exceptions
x = input("What's your first number?")
y = input("What's your second number?")
output = 'Hello world'
print(output)
C# splitting language and runtime versions is really great, yeah
being able to use C# 11 on Framework 4.5
(Framework is dead)
@rugged root
what is a "RegEx" and what are its uses?
does that work only with strings?
Writing parser is good for small thing, using reject raises production bugs.
yep
What's 1 skill that is a must and is common between programming society?
