My left pocket is my IDs, keys, tissue. And my right is my phone. Sometimes even a powerbank too
fetch competition
Back left for my wallet
And mouse trap
To deter thieves
Not really, but I should
Ooo, or a taser
I never put anything in my back poocket, because then I would have to take it out every time I sit down
You get used to it
this is a polish cat I think, I can tell by the ears
That's a happy cat
๐คฃ
dogs are the best
I don't know his type. He is a rescue. He is 9 years old
As long as they are trained
yeah but the nationality of the cat
or maybe he's german and crossed the border, animals don't need passports
I was jumped on by a big dog when I was a kid, so I'm a bit afraid of dogs
wow 9y cat is like a 52 year-old human
Oh, @rugged root I also just discovered that Google Script exists, and that I can combine it with google sheets. So my next goal is gonna be to learn google script and improve my worksheets
Yeah, me neither, until I asked chatGPT how could I optimize one of my worksheets better, and it offered Google Script as a solution
Google Apps Script it's proper name I think
I think it's based on that
what does optimize worksheet mean specifically?
btw I'm editing a Libre Calc spreadsheet rn..
you don't like spreadsheets?
you can check out my spreadsheets here ^^
@rugged root I'm considering rewriting it in Asciidoc or something else, and having the spreadsheet generated instead.
Because there are too many rows..
and Libre Calc is slower and slower..
Did I get banned? ๐
In any case, sexism.
I have a google sheet file that is filled with 10-12 sheets, and 1 sheet has at least 500 lines. They contain scented wax and candle names and other informations from a shop me and my friends like. I wanted to make that if I add or update a row (like if they ran out of one, or one is not available anymore) then it would be updated in the other sheets too, because otherwise it would be really long to do it one by one. But the are some columns in the middle that need to stay free (so the information can be costumized on every sheet), but I couldn't do that with functions, because if I inserted a row or sorted the base sheet after adding some rows at the end it would scramble the free colums (so if candle B was rated at 10, and I inserted a candle B into the base sheet, then after sorting, on the other sheet candle A would be 10 and candle B would have candle C's rating and so on)
so this is yours?
not the bird but the dog yes
beautiful
ASCIIDoc reminds me of MarkDown or LaTeX
This is interesting. How is this worksheet used in practice?
Is it easier for you to look up in this worksheet instead of going on the shop's website?
Just wait until you hear about https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/scripts/overview/excel
Dafuq

please donโt use spreadsheets
Yeah, more similar to MarkDown honestly.
Only reason I'd do it is it's so much eaiser to edit Text files than a Spreadsheet..
just make your daylie offers to python
Yes, also there is a column where one can keep track of how many they have of one product. Like I have 6 of one specific scented wax.
Also when it comes to gift giving it makes it easier, because all of my friends can use this worksheet and see the other's ratings, so they can buy one that the other really likes
I use the worksheet is more for the second reason
Are you guys candle resellers by chance?
yeah, I mean I've noticed there's a candle craze lately
Both companies solutions are JavaScript frameworks
They each have their quirks but itโs 99% just JavaScript
I have more than 100 candles
Makes sense, yeah
all with different scent combinations
that's a lot. if the power goes out,we know who's still gonna have lighting going
๐
They are too pretty ๐
So yeah, I want to make a script for this worksheet
I just need to learn how to ๐
Also I figured if I can learn Google Script well, then I might be able to use it for other stuff too, maybe even in worklife later
If you're Business Analyst or Manager or Executive Assistant, Google Script / Google Sheets / Excel can definitely come in handy
I think..
I'm Computer Science (I think that's how it's translated)

For InnoDB, you will probably be OK with SSDs.
20M UPDATEs per day = 230/second; more if there are spikes.
Spinning disk (HDD): 100 writes per second.
SSD: Maybe 1000/sec.
Batched INSERTs run faster.
Some variants of RAID run faster.
A RAID controller with Battery Backed Write Cache runs really fast (for writes) (until the cache is saturated).
For keeping "likes" or "views" or "clicks" it is probably better to keep the counters in a separate table from the rest of the columns about the page/product/whatever. This way, updating the counter and dealing with the other data interfere less.
There are several settings to consider tuning:
innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 2 (Tradeoff for speed instead of security)
sync_binlog = OFF
Combine multiple actions into a single BEGIN..COMMIT transaction. But be cautious about deadlocks, etc.
Perhaps you did not mean 100K connections? That is a huge number. More than a few dozen running threads (irrespective of the number of sleeping threads) is quite a lot.
Another approach to counting clicks is not to record them in real time, but scrape the web server log every, say, hour. Have a separate process to count all the clicks for the hour (or each 5 minutes or whatever) into a single number to feed to an UPDATE. That would be more work for a separate server, but very little effort for the database.
can someone help me in something
Catch you later!

Ozone () (or trioxygen) is an inorganic molecule with the chemical formula O3. It is a pale blue gas with a distinctively pungent smell. Ozone is formed from dioxygen by the action of ultraviolet (UV) ligh...

At the end of the day, you have to decide on some basis who is and isn't eligible.
It's just about where you draw the threshold for eligibility.
No, it seems insane that country you haven't been paying taxes for 30 years should still have to do anything for you
We have a saying: You get what you pay for.
"We don't care about German problems, we have our own thanks." Actual American foreign policy in the 1930s.
I'm more thinking, it is the collective pot. If you expect to be able to get that care if you go back, it makes sense that you pay into that. That's how insurance works, for example
We have corporate insurance, because we have this bizarre idea that corporations will do the right thing.
Very few of us get European style insurance. Only the very poor and the old.
We're working on fixing that. Check back in 100 years and we'll probably be a little closer to actual basic human decency.
But first we have to stop trying to kill each other every time we fill in circles.
$107,600 for 2020, $108,700 for 2021, $112,000 for 2022, and $120,000 for 2023
If you make $125k in 2023, you'd only pay US tax on the $5k
I wonder how a Digital currency that can be created specifically for healthcare, In which, Health care providers recieve a portion of a this currrency, and the remaining after the health care providers recieve their portion, to the common public, the cheap currency thats left can be aquired in abundance, for a fair amount of health care, this process where the individuals who need health care can then use this currency to pay in this digital currency, which is burned.. their system will eventually benefit with the rise in value

Hello
oh okay
!if-name-main @reef badger
This is a statement that is only true if the module (your source code) it appears in is being run directly, as opposed to being imported into another module. When you run your module, the __name__ special variable is automatically set to the string '__main__'. Conversely, when you import that same module into a different one, and run that, __name__ is instead set to the filename of your module minus the .py extension.
Example
# foo.py
print('spam')
if __name__ == '__main__':
print('eggs')
If you run the above module foo.py directly, both 'spam'and 'eggs' will be printed. Now consider this next example:
# bar.py
import foo
If you run this module named bar.py, it will execute the code in foo.py. First it will print 'spam', and then the if statement will fail, because __name__ will now be the string 'foo'.
Why would I do this?
โข Your module is a library, but also has a special case where it can be run directly
โข Your module is a library and you want to safeguard it against people running it directly (like what pip does)
โข Your module is the main program, but has unit tests and the testing framework works by importing your module, and you want to avoid having your main code run during the test

hello
i do nto know how to progress
i do not know how to progress in python and coding
Any cool things you want to make?
thats what im saying, i dont know what i want so yeaahhhh im stuck
will do the challenges animmo
tamanks
im still a little bit young and i want my course to be IT so i just want to have an advanced knowledge yk yk
maybe problem solving and coding basics
That's good but you'll want to apply it in some way to solve a real-world problem that your interested in.
Applying that knowledge to a real-world problem will take your knowledge to a whole new level.
websites?
Yep, Flask is good for that.
What type of website do you want to build?
custom online shop things to help bussinesses go online i guess
So they go to your website and they can make their own shop on your website?
Yeah, that's good. You'll need to learn some additional things.
ye i guess like shopiffy
Like databases, security, authentication, etc.
Just start branching off from your current basic knowledge that you have.
secuirty is protecting your what exactly? in programming?
In particular, the database. If it's a shop then maybe it'll have financial information.
Names, emails, phone numbers, etc.
So you want to protect the database as much as you can.
ohh
Yeah, so already you have additional stuff that you can learn that would also help your Python skills.
You can learn about the Alchemy library to retrieve data from the database with Python.
whats an indented block
if 1=1:
print('1=1')
The print('1=1') part is the indented block.
It's tabbed to the right. That's why it's 'indented'.
bascially add spaces? is what "expected indented block" means?
Yeah, it could be spaces.
Or tabs.
Depends on the programmer.
Programmers debate on which one (tabs or spaces) is better. lol
How old are you?

Let an ultraintelligent machine be defined as a machine that can far surpass all the intellectual activities of any man however clever. Since the design of machines is one of these intellectual activities, an ultraintelligent machine could design even better machines; there would then unquestionably be an โintelligence explosionโ, and the intelligence of man would be left far behind. Thus the first ultraintelligent machine is the last invention that man need ever make, provided that the machine is docile enough to tell us how to keep it under control. (Good 1965: 33)

Due to the design of the lock, a well designed skeleton key can be made to bypass the wards. For this reason, warded lock mechanisms are generally used in low-security applications. There are also a very limited number of unique keys that can be created, so many keys will be able to open other doors that they were not designed to open.[3]. The invention of the lever tumbler lock solves this problem, as each lever is required to be lifted to a certain height in order to operate the locking mechanism.
