Alr so I saw the Super Mario Galaxy Movie today

As a (former) Nintendo fan, I did enjoy all the references and Easter eggs, and the visuals were great

#

But like the first film, the story was pretty weak (probably even weaker than the first one)

Like Rosalina was only in the beginning and end of the film, which is disappointing, considering Mario Galaxy is where she first debuted

But regardless, I still did have a good time with it

Brie Larson was great as Rosalina despite her not having much screen time

The one thing I will say in some agreement is Pixar's turn towards more soft feeling design(not the same art style as each other) and focus on emotion during the story has sort of cornered a market that doesnt at all cater to those who prefer something with more action or edge.

So, I saw the Galaxy Movie last night and HOLY SHIT WAS THAT FAMICOM GRAND PRIX II MUSIC I HEARD IN THE TOASTARENA SCENE?!

Ahem anywho, to start with complaints, they're kinda the same as I had with the first movie. The story was kinda lacking, it seemed like everything was going a mile a minute, and [unlike the Bros. movie] it felt like there wasn't really a main focus; felt more like a series of shorts strung together.

But y'know what, I actually didn't mind these shortcomings this time around because I had a lot more fun with Galaxy than Bros.

  • Seems as though it has more emphasis on family: The Bros. are actually together for most of the film, Bowser bonding with Junior's which is pretty must just a given lol, and then there's the reveal that ||Peach and Rosalina were sisters??|| Well, that certainly is a surprise. I have heard the theories (or was it just MatPat?) about Rosalina being one of the character's mother or something like that. Either way, I'm at least glad to know the question of ||where Peach came from|| has been answered.
  • I dunno if it's just me, but another thing is is that Chris Pratt pulled off a much better performance as Mario than in the first movie. He just seems to be more into it this go around so that's a plus.
  • Wart was pretty rad. He kinda had an aura about him. Him running a casino with most of his henchmen is just kinda fitting for him. Don't really know why but it does
  • Then there's all the hints at a Smash Movie/Nintendo CU 😛 As someone who's not into Star Fox, Fox McCloud was cool to see, and funny; dude loves his Arwing. R.O.B.'s cameo was also pretty neato. But most importantly, ||MY BOI GAME & WATCH!! LOOK AT HIM GO! And for bring him into this world, Luigi's now my favorite character! I gave the loudest clap the world has ever heard when he painted him!||

  • And finally, ||Princess Daisy's here babeeee!! Although I kinda got spoiled with her by the Mario Wiki lmao, but ehhh, no big deal, the princess of Sarasaland has arrived!||

Overall, the Galaxy movie was a lot more enjoyable of a film, despite the lack of a strong story again. Giving it a 8/10.... koopas!! One less than a 9 because ||GW|| forgot to use it on Bowser. Literally the only bad part of the film, well besides everything I mentioned at the beginning of course.

Overall though I think its a funny unique show with alot of great humor, moments and the creators truly put alot into it that reflects their sense of humor or things they enjoy. But not in a blatant "LOOK WASNT THIS FUNNY???" sort of way but a more subtle sense of writing tha without the context the joke is still funny

I do think it's really weird they show designs now of a generically pretty girl with moon aesthetics and a purple/black color palette. Im not saying its a copy, but def I feel someone meddled in the design concept here to make it appealing in a very generic witchy vibe compared to the original art that was shown last year.
