but after the episodes got finished and leaked, it simply got stuck in limbo

until it's confirmed that's cancelled

Could also be because people latch on to headcanons so hard they lose any sense of [actual canon] reality and berate the creator for not following their vision of the work, and finally on the other side of the coin, some don't understand that fan works/headcanons don't have to be one-to-one with the canon of the fictional work and don't even have to mean anything in the grand scheme of things, which is the entire point of headcanons in the first place
