We don't control the images, if anyone can provide a forge.log file from obb/forge.app/forge/data folder.

Looking into it a bit, Cloudflare has been having some issues the past ~24 hours or so. Dunno if that impacts Scryfall specifically.

Can confirm. My PC version is out of date and I can't change that at the moment, but 2.0.10-SNAPSHOT-2.07 on the PC, I can start a Pile start and all images download fine. On 2.0.10-SNAPSHOT-2.17 on Android many images are missing. (Probably had a decent amount already cached.)

I suggest changing the title to something like "Trouble with downloading cards (Update: On Android?)". Might not really change anything, but might get a little more visibility on it, or narrow down the interested parties. I think this happened one other time and there was an "Android guy" who came right in and fixed it once it was clear that it was an Android-specific problem. (Memory slightly fuzzy on that though.)

@split hare says they're having the issue on PC too. I'm seeing zero issues on 2.07. Wonder if it could be something in a new snapshot.

Anyone not on Android with the problem may consider trying to install an older full release build, see if that fixes anything.

For me started in my android when i moved from 16->to 17 feb snapshot. I tried to roll back still no image download. It looks like the image is not abel to write in the forge cache

I'm having the same problem, is there a way to download all the card images on my computer and put them on my phone? They have also removed the download all images that used to exist in files on settings so I'm a bit stuck.

Tried to delete and download but that didn't work. It only gave me a heart attack when I though my decks were gone before I found my backup

I accidentally downloaded and built the Lorwyn release. That one works fine. Currently getting the snapshot built.

This is on PC, not Android. For PC, 99.9% of users can use the existing installers/downloads.

Goes back to the Android theory though. Most people seem to have the problem on Android. I'm still having trouble on 2.18 on Android, so it's not that Scryfall is suddenly fixed.

Yep 2.18 in pc currently working just fine (im using it right now) the problem is only android. When i debuged the problem looked more "Android" problem, like he get error trying to write in pics/cards/

As not a not-developer for this project, all I can think of to do is try to present them with the best possible information when they look at this. Last I saw from them is they seem to assume this comes from Scryfall's end. Can anyone who has had trouble with the Android version try the PC version from the same network?

I've seen no missing images on any of the few PC builds I've tried. It could be good to get another person or two verifying that "yeah, from the same network with the same DNS servers in the same location, the PC build is downloading images and the Android version isn't."

I added some changes to the code, when todays snapshot comes out I'll see if its enough or if more needs to change. Definitely under the assumption that Scryfall did something to android requests

It's not pulling images at all from Forge. I have Zarchiver, which used to let me open Forge's file in OBB

Try to connect your phone to your computer and activate android auto file transfer from your phone. Then check if you can access it from there.

Also you could check the permissions Zarchiver has. Maybe the system is blocking it.

Downgrading an android app like Forge is inadvisable. Android's package updater doesn't generally allow you to install older versions over top newer ones. You'd have to uninstall Forge, which would purge your decks, saves, and other data unless you know how to back them up properly.

Plus, the images download one by one as needed, not all at once. And even then, the suspicion seems to be (I think, from what little I've seen said) that Scryfall is trying to block Android Forge users from sucking down images by the thousands. It would probably apply to older builds as well, if true.

Grab your entire Android/obb/forge.app folder if you can. Some file managers are better at allowing access to it than others.

If you delete the app (to clear the way to reinstall), it will delete everything in there permanently.

That seems like a terrible place to store all the decks 🙃

I'm surprised Data Management under Settings doesn't provide a way to export user made decks.
It just does whatever classic game mode is.

Working with the Android filesystem is a bit of a headache. Your options for storage are various flavors of app-specific storage which are deleted when the app is uninstalled, or somewhere in the shared storage which you have to jump through several hoops to get permission to access. We probably should add some support for the latter but in my experience, working on the Android-specific part of the codebase is like playing chess with a croquet mallet.

And someone was saying earlier that the menu-based backup options did back up decks (unverified, just what I thought I read!), but the question was also card images so that's why I went straight to Obb.

I just wanted to add that this seems to affect the other downloads in the "files" tab as well (i.e. skins), it does for me after I reinstalled at least.

While we're talking card images....
I've been making custom arts for some of my commanders.
How do I get the game to see them?

I put the cards in the obb cache pics cards folder.
I created a 3-letter folder for them within it to act as a set.
And I attempted to name the .png files similar to other files I found in other sets.
But they never pulled up, and no new options were added for the chosen cards.

obb/forge.app/Forge/cache/pics/cards/WTJ/Odric, Lunarch Marshal2.borderless.png

I also tried locating them up one directory, but still had no results.

The snapshots have been refired and reuploaded, however the auto-updater won't pick them up until the version number increments, i.e. when the next day's snapshots roll out. You can either manually redownload the snapshot build from github, or just wait for today's daily snapshot to roll out - roughly 9 and a half hours from now.

We fired some manual snapshots last night and we always make sure not to check for new snaps every 20 hours, so if you got one of those it wouldnt check for an update until tomorrow
