Works fine for me as well (2025-07-19 build).

Did they not have any counters on Gideon? If they passed their turn and Gideon had no counters it would die due to having 0 toughness.

Right. If I equip with "1 - planeswaler", Gideon dies. If I equip with "3 - creature" everything seems fine

FWIW, tested again and it's working fine for both equip abilities on my side.
