I did but I don't understand what snapshot means, english actually isn't my primary language

#

So the term snapshot is unknown to me

#

I wonder what I did wrong, I downloaded the snapshots and extracted them as instructed in the site, then opened forge again, tried to scan the files from the folder and restart forge but doesn't update it

#

Am I missing something crucial?

Thanks

extract it twice

wild dome
#

I did, I extracted it once just in general not to a spesific place and then in to a forge snapshot folder after that

#

But it didn't work

#

open the extracted folder, it should look like this:

#

then run forge.exe or forge-adventure.exe

But what do I do about the old forge in my desktop?

#

Is it safe to delete it now that I have this new version and all the files for it?

#

And yes I'm a retard I forgot to extract it inside the folder itself 🤣 so all I need to know now is if I can remove the old forge since having 2 would be dumb

In English, a snapshot is a quick picture: freezing a moment into a photograph. For development, it's freezing the current code, whatever its state, into a build that you distribute. Hopefully I made that understandable enough for you!

@formal quail Thank you so much, I really appreciate you spending your time just to clear it up for me, you explained it well

How could you even mix them?

#

What does it mean to mix them?

leaden spruce
#

Extracting it in the same folder

wild dome
#

Deffinetly not gonna make that mistake

#

It would probably fuck everything up

#

Seperate folders for snapshots and stable releases, yes?

#

I need to update my java to run the newer version of forge lol
