#can't find a real language-partner

I’m new here, but can help out. Just let me know
^this, finding a language partner you can make sustained conversation with is actually very difficult and not an issue unique to this server. you basically have to find someone who 1) you get along with and have things to talk about with (i.e., common interests), 2) has the time and desire to speak regularly, and 3) has the same level of expectations and commitment as you which takes time and luck. i think a lot of people throw it out there that they want a language partner then get cold feet, or just realize they aren't really interested in having conversations that are limited by vocabulary.
edit: i think it's also an issue of platform - being on discord naturally makes people think language exchange should be a back and forth instant chat (which can be absolutely brutal especially at lower levels). language exchange may be better suited to things like hour-long weekly calls, or longer format messages with more substance - but that's a small group of people relative to the amount of learners.
In addition to everything that people have already said, I think the purpose of this kind of server won't make a hard thing completely easy, but it's much easier than the alternative.
Without something like this, you could go to a language learning server, but then you have to find someone who knows English well and wants to learn Chinese better (or vice versa) amongst a sea of other languages. Or you could go to a generally chatting server, but then you also need to find someone who has any desire to learn/teach/practice languages.
I think this server is nice in that there's clearly a place to seek language partners, there's a lot of people, and it's focused on the learning of just two languages (yes there's dialects, but shh).
But is it still hard? Of course 😄

多找就行, 总会有机会碰到长期的搭子
搜了一下, 确实有几个
不过感觉可以写详细点

可遇而不可求
Me too. I met a lot of people but they all kind of died out because it gets awkward when you can only say things like "I like school"
Remove that he/him and add she/her that will solve ya problem fr sure. Tell em ure name is tiffany nyugen and u like seaside. Then the desp monkeys will do the work for ya 🫵🥳
So far, it's okay
If I were a broke student with nothing better to do, I would probably go on minecraft or sth all day and talk to chinese bros for like 10 hours a day. I know this would really work
Oh btw if someone is happy with conversations like "I will go to the market on Monday", DM me 😋
thats a damn good idea
maybe i should use it 🤔
I also need a Chinese language partner
ik, same
