#Set up a bot that autoremoves discord invites

As per title, I feel like people are sending invites to their server too frequently and it'll save the mods a lot of effort to just implement a simple system that autoremoves all the invites so people can't advertise their "18+ egirl nude server" 🤮

#

Mainly to help the staff team a little cause especially of a server this size it'll be nice to just auto prevent people from spam advertising

There are times when I feel like it can be ok to send discord invites to certain servers so I wonder if this would be too big of an action.

On another server I know of they use automod rules to take care of the spam invites and that works really well there

especially since its against the rules to begin with

If you mean the NSFW server spam, then that's of course against the rules. Otherwise, the relevant rule would be "no advertising', but I could imagine some cases where people post a discord link in a legitimate way that isn't advertising.

But yeah I agree we could maybe set up automod to clear out some of the common spam links, and I've sent them the list of spam links I use for automod should they wish to use it

I mean even if its not those NSFW servers, advertising their own discord servers is against the rules right? I just feel like for a server this large not having a bot auto remove discord advertisements is a big oversight

#

Especially since those cases where people post discord links in a way that isnt advertising are quite limited, and even then it could be sent in DMs instead of in public

#

I mean idk I just feel like for a partnered server of this size, stopping people from sending discord links is kind of fundamental, theres way more ways for people to abuse it and misuse it than there are advantages to not moderating it properly

#

Just my thoughts cause in the end its still the servers choice

If someone is advertising their own discord server, then I think that's not right, I agree.

#

Aside from the bots who spam NSFW servers and all that, I feel like personally the frequency at which I see people advertising their own server versus posting a link to some server that isn't theirs (following the context of the conversation) is about equal

#

For example, people are talking about studying some other language and someone asks, are there any good servers for studying X language, and someone a link to a server for that language (not their own server so not self-advertisement)
I don't know how the mods feel about that kind of situation, but I personally would be kind of fine with that

I mean in those cases you can just DM them and in this server specifically a vast majority of the links sent here are people advertising their own discords and they always need to get manually removed by the mods. Furthermore it usually takes a while before someone noticed the link and notifies a mod using @robust girder . It's just a lot of unnecessary hassle for something that can easily be fixed

#

In those cases you mentioned you can literally just DM that person the link without pasting it in the server and plus the rules say advertisement not self advertisement, otherwise all those NSFW server links and discord invites technically aren't self advertisements either cause most of the people sending them are bots and not the owners of the server

#

Idk I just hope this can be implemented cause it feels like a huge oversight to me and I'm worried someone's going to start abusing it, the disadvantages to allowing discord links far outweighs the advantages imho

Or an alternative: Set up a bot that autoremoves discord links but has a whitelist for specific servers

I just looked through the list of discord servers that have been sent here in the last month, including the spam ones, seems all the spam messages all used one of two or three template messages, so the discord automod filters can knock those out. Then the main problem of the spam links are taken care of
