#Baldur's Gate's 3's

weirdly swinging it around into a good guy ending even after all my evils
it's the power of 'whoops jaheira survived' into 'fine i'll do your quests'
Oh huh weird
the darkest path felt a little too bleak and unfun
so i'm aiming for a slightly different path
And i hated the non-||squiddified orph|| variant
ok! It's finally time
to stuff Gate into the Baldur or whatever happens at the end of this game, who knows
The most evil was the most satisfying?
As much as i enjoyed going through the game again, i'm glad i'm rid of it again. It's such a brain consuming game
And i'm not just talking about mind flayer worms! *crowd ROARS with laughter*
And Segments just take a long time. Just like my previous run, i found myself staying up a little too late just to finish the Thing i was doing
♫I'm about to obliterate Gortash, do dah, do dah♫
7 rays of fire to the face, oh de do dah day
would have been 14, but he immediately gets his shield and avatar becasue 125 damage before the battle even started
I just made a Dark Alliance with him to rule the city together!
Much easier, no fight
I mean, that works too
but his haircut is pretty bad. I had to singe it to make it look better
Ah the thistle down hairstyle
That is a lot of damage lol
Level 6 scorching ray is 7 rays, plus using reverberation. If the dude didn't get fire immunity and a shield after the first attack, I had a staff that can be used to take the cost, and as a sorcerer I can make a spell attack a bonus action, so another level 6 scorching ray would have done another 125 ish damage, so 250ish with one characters surprise attack
Just finished combat to the hardest tunes in the hells
Dang, you're cruisin'
Though if you know what you're doing, you can get through it pretty fast
I'm pretty close to the end
just gotta deal with a certain cultist sect under the city and then I can look at taking the brain on. Unless I want to get a bunch of dessicated clown parts to give back
I was about to walk into one of the fights and went "wait, did I long rest first?"
I completely forgot about the clowning near the end
Heckin scorching ray. did 14 in one turn and did about 230 to Sarevok
Are you running an all mages glass cannon assault party
Not quite
Karlach, Wyll, Shadowheart, and Sorcerer Tav
Tav has a staff that can use a spell for free at any level, so level 6 or whatever scorching ray is 7 rays, plus reverbration and lightning charges
then sorcerer quickened spell cast the same thing again for another 7 rays
ahhh okay!
i thought there was only wizard
sorcerer being charisma is cool though, that means you can also smooth talk (da ladies)
(and other skill checks)
The other difference is that while wizards can get more spells by copying scrolls and swap them out, sorcerers are stuck with what they have
I have apparently never copied a scroll lol
Wizards can prepare more situational spells if they know what’s coming up. Sorcerers have to prioritize spells they know they’ll use all the time.
Iirc wizards might get more slots?
Of course, you can always just buy scrolls and potions and not need to learn
Don't mind me, I just played wizard like a sorcerer without any benefits lol
I didn't realize you could even swap your prepared spells out until I think mid Act 3 because y'all told me
Bladesinger wizard with a smol level in fighter is really fun
What it do
You get a song that increases in healing or force damage depending on the spells you cast or attacks you make. Iirc it also ups your AC and stabby as you sing.
You can end the song in either a burst of DPS or in a healing circle in a pickle
"healing circle in a pickle" took me a good minute 🥒
I was like "what D&D jargon is a pickle"
So it's like... bardzard?
Kinda. Depends on how you play bard, I guess
Sorlock is a common multiclass. But sorcerers are so powerful that most people don't bother
I always play Bardball 🔥
Just kidding, i try to play these games as much as talky sims as i can
Honestly, there are times where I wish I could play more actual DnD with lots of talking
So my bard specialization was 'the one with the most talky skills'
Esoteric Ebb
Combat gets thrown in so often that it gets old. So I often wish for more stealth and intrigue and parties
One of my favorite RPG memories was with Daneeyul, I Assassin Creed climbed a building, staked out in a tower and then sniped a guard
Nah, it was a homebrew. But it was a d20 system
Fantasy setting, so sniped with a bow
Pretty sure critical hit one shot takedown
I did NOT know you could persuade the doctor guy to undergo special surgery
"hey lol did you know you're not a real doctor if you don't let them practice on you"
Those mini bosses all have speech escape hatches, it’s nuts
I'm kind of glad, that was a difficult fight my first run
Honestly Act 2 might be my favorite in terms of encounters. Love the environment of Act 1 more, but those interactions and scenes in 2 are great
yeah 1 has the best environments (forestttt), though act 2 does seem more varied in the encounters, you're right
plus I'm a sucker for "shadow curse" thanks to Neverending Story
though it is a bit samey
not so bad that I hate it though
I appreciate the ability to talk your way out of most of Act 2's major encounters.
Though saving Isabel can be a pain
Can you talk your way out of that one? 🤔
Unfortunately no
I've gotten fairly lucky and won the second try this run so I'm not too upset
save scummed my way to a panther friend 🐈⬛
is that... in a vault?
a sharvault
lae'zel voice: just as i expected...
if you always expect a trap you can never be surprised!
Minthara always says "A trap. Let's send forth our least favourite, just to be sure"
lol
I took down the brain last week with my sorcerer. But didn't have time to finish the epilogue. Jumped straight into the hells with Karlach
