Can’t login into C&C Generals server

Hi! I am unable to login into the C&C Generals server(see pictures). I have really no clue what to do, so that’s why I’m asking. I am new to this and this is my first time trying out how multiplayer works, so do any of you with more experience know? It also says at the start that it’s not executable, but can anyone help please? This is the latest version on Steam…

It says “Could not connect…..” after I press Login or if I press Create account

not sure but the gen tool says not compatable with this version.... i have found the setup or guide says nothing but gentool is only compatable with 1.04 i had to down grade wiith the gen patchewr as did my buddie. as for the unable to connect

1. are you connection to the account you made on the website?
2. i have found that sometimes a restart will get you to reconnect casue i ahve the same issue some times

How can you change the version? I would like to play agianst another person, but Im new to this(I used to play this on Windows XP, with a cable connected to the other persons computer), so Idk how to change version
