You are encountering network-related issues. Please provide the following info so we can help you in the very best way possible (feel free to ignore any question you have already clearly answered):

  • Do you have Tacitus/C&C:Online installed?
  • What country do you live in?
  • What anti-virus do you have installed?
  • Do you know how to login into your router?
    • If so, do you know how to do port-forwarding?
  • Are you on a network that is outside of your own control like a network from university/work, hotspot etc.?

Can you additionally provide fullscreen screenshots that show the issue in question?

lime silo

#

opaque spade
#

Do you know how to login into your own router/modem

#

?

lime silo

Please do the following:

  • Start the game you are having network issues with.
  • Open the Tacitus overlay using Ctrl + T (if this hotkey does nothing, please immediately tell us.)
  • Go to the Network tab of the overlay.
  • Enable the UseAltPeerChatPort port option.
  • Press Save at the left-bottom corner of the Tacitus overlay.
  • Use Ctrl + T again to close the Tacitus overlay.
  • Try again to see if the network issues still persist.

Privado VPN Instructions

Getting the VPN and setting it up:

  1. Go to https://signup.privadovpn.com/free
  2. Select the "10 GB limit" plan
  3. Enter the E-Mail address you want to use with your account
  4. Click "Create Your Free Account"
  5. Verify your account with the link sent to your email
  6. The website will now display you your password for the love of god save these credentials
  7. Click the "Download PrivadoVPN for Windows" button beneath your login credentials (in case you cant find it)
  8. Install the program and run the set-up
  9. Now you can choose between taking the tour or just starting the app, up to you

    Setting the app up correctly:
  10. Select the "Settings" button (bottom left of the window that opened)
  11. Select the "Bypass" option (NOT the tunnel option!)
  12. Now add all applications on your device that you know are eating much of your internet data, like browsers and Steam. This way, you will prevent going over your 10 GB limit too fast. Make sure NOT to add any of the Command & Conquer games to this list, otherwise they won't work
  13. Set the location the VPN connects to, to "The Netherlands" to assure its functionality
  14. Exit the settings
  15. Enable the VPN by clicking on *"Click to Connect" * within Privado

What to do in game:

  1. Open "Settings/Options"
  2. Go to "Network"
  3. You will find alternative IP-addresses in a drop down menu. Select a different one. Know that these IP-addresses are NOT the same as the one shown within Privado
  4. Now try to connect to multiplayer
  5. If it still doesn't work: go back to step 1 of this section and try any alternative IP-addresses that are still left in the dropdown menu.
  6. Let us know whether any of them worked.

Let us know whether this worked for you or not. If you encounter any issues, also please say so.

C&C:Online isn't affiliated with any of these VPN services nor do we receive money or any other form of compensation for recommending them

Make the other user do this as well btw

#

The images indicate you both suffer from this issue

lime silo
#

We can start the match now we both have a connection symbol but won’t put us in the match after the countdown

opaque spade
#

For you both?

#

And have the VPN enabled currently?

lime silo
#

Yes we are both on Netherlands for the vpn it shows we have the connection symbols now and it will start the countdown but loses connection after that should I switch to a different country on the vpn or?

opaque spade
lime silo
opaque spade
#

And you are absolutely certain it is enabled on both your systems?

#

as in Privado is actually enabled?

#

and did you select different IP-settings in the in-game network menu?

lime silo
#

Yea I put privado and enabled it on both of them and Yes we did it had 2 ip addresses clicked the different one and i was able to start the countdown but it didn’t load into the game they were able to join me too

#

Ok, have any other idea @bright yoke ?

#

I'm bit baffled here

#

suspect a really sucky ISP

bright yoke
#

there might be a firewall policy on the router preventing connection

#

but one thing hasn't been mentioned

#

when you activate the VPN

#

you need to go to the network section of the in-game settings

#

there is a drop-down box allowing you to select your online ip

#

there should be at least two; one for your connection to your modem, and one for your connection to the vpn

#

you must select vpn's local interface ip

#

give this a try and report back whether you were successful with this

bright yoke
#

a bunch of stuff must be checked. first we have to make sure there is no firewall policy (on the operating system or the router) blocking the connections

opaque spade
#

Steam does only apply the firewall exception during install for 1.09 and for 1.10 only when the user clicks on yes when connecting online

#

so...

#

@lime silo

  • Boot the game
  • Ctrl + T
  • Go to Chronoshift tab
  • Downgrade to 1.(0)9

@lime silo update on the situation?
