#Friend and I can't play RA3 Campaign Co-Op after installing Tacitus

I've been trying this
This might be a configuration issue with the game. Please try the following to hopefully fix your network related issue:
Close the game.
Go to %appdata%/Red Alert 3/Profiles
Then go to the folder named after your in-game profile name.
Then open the Options.ini file.
There is a line in that file that starts with FirewallPortOverride. Delete this whole line in the file.
Then save the file.
Start the game and try to start online multiplayer.
Let us know whether the above worked for you or not.
Extra info, we're playing on Windows 11 and the Ultimate Collection version from the EA App
Okay this didn't work
I've read through the other topics with similar issues, I gather the only two other solutions are 1. Port forwarding and 2. Privado VPN, is that right?
Okay, it worked once I installed Privado (my friend hosting didn't)
hello. in your case it would only be a vpn
since you are in the same house
@clear acorn Nice self-research
Amazing you fixed it yourself within 20 minutes
But the one hosting should use the vPN
So, that should fix the issue right @clear acorn ?
If so, please let us know
Just came off of playing half the campaign haha
I was using Privado, my friend hosting wasn't
Solved the issue but we did notice increasingly worsening lag the more we played, not sure if that has anything to do with it
Try to change the privado region a bit more close to home
oh yeah, that also works, as long as one of you is on Privado
Its a little suboptimal though, will there be a long-term fix for this issue?
GG @clear acorn, you just advanced to level 1!
I know you must be tired of hearing "bring back old C&C Online" but to the average person not having to deal with stuff like this did indeed make it look better
Agree, there is also the option of port forwarding;
oh, nevermind... you are playing LAN in the same house
Then we are bumping into a legacy limitation of the game; it can't handle two persons on the exact same network apparently
Completely agree
@cloud silo This is true right? We always seem to assume this. But with some of our previous assumptions turning out to be incorrect (which ports to forward), I wanted to double-check.
Why is LAN play there if it doesn't work on the same network?
yes. very true
LAN play doesn't touch the online functionality and correctly recognizes the local subnet used
it's when two people who are sharing the same internet connection trying to play online, that we encounter this problem
Hello there, im from argentina, i have the same issue.
I have a local router in my house + another router to my room, i had to connect the port 1 from the main router to my router and port 2 directly to my pc. And i can play LAN.
BUT, i tested everything (open ports in my main router, deactivating firewall, settings differents CDKEYS from any pcs via STEAM (i had to configure it locking the CDKEYS, else we saw %cdkey% and had Issues)
Just one time i could play, hotsposting with cellphone in my room pc, config options.ini setting set delay in both pc. Port = 16000
FirewallPortOverride = 16000
GameSpyIPAddress = My ipv4 (From data cellphone)
IPAddress = Same case
The another pc on the main router had the same config, but with its IPV4 and we could play CO OP ONLINE.
I commit an error, i wanted to avoid some ping and download hamachi, pretending that i will have another IPV4 and simulate that we are not on local.
Any helps?
@silver furnace same symptoms can have a different cause, please make a new topic yourself in #1070422965239423046
Please create a new post/topic within #1070422965239423046
Make sure not to post a message in a pre-existing post/topic, that is considered rude. Even though you might see a post with a similar issue, we've seen in practice that separate posts works out much better for everyone.
Please include the following information in your new post within #1070422965239423046:
- A tag of the game(s) in question.
- A tag of the storefront(s) where the game was acquired from.
- A detailed description of the issue.
- A good screenshot of the issue in question. If you are encountering an error, make sure to include an image showing this error.
- Any usage of mods/tweaks/patches/map packs.
- What you've tried yourself so far.
