every time me and my friend try to play (were on new installs from the ultimate collection on steam) we get in a game together and hit the connections button, his will say failed connection (the little red crossed out symbol) then mine will too, we've tried fixing it by:
-removing our win firewall from access to the game
-getting an old version of cnc.online that has a launch window so we can hook
-getting R23map (dont know if running this fixes anything, or what it does really)
-Fixed_TUC_Launchers_v1.01 (the setup ui wont let us select kane's wrath)
-fresh install and only getting recent cnc.online download from official site (the first thing we tried as well, it worked for 2 games then never let us connect again after a crash when we pressed exit to rage quit a game against bots)

Be sure to install the new Tacitus client. First try selecting your network interface's IP address, in the game's network settings section. If that didn't solve the problem, give this VPN a try and let us know if it worked.

And before the VPN we got fresh installs and only put Tacitus on it

At this point we'll take anything new, we've tried so many things

in that thread, your friend said that you played 2 games successfully
so it is very unlikely that it is a network issue, cause i don't think you changed your ISP after two games

It was one of the things we've tried but after reading that it breaks it we removed it, it was one of our tests

well, different platforms can have different problems
but in games like the C&C series where the network connections are peer-to-peer
some ISPs can be problematic

fresh install, chronoshift crashes my game once I install a mod, seems to be the 4k mod that crashes my game when i use chronoshift. But when that doesnt happen, it still fails to connect CJ and I in game

Its both of us, we tried separate lobbies with other people, its definitely only us. Its a tad annoying but, it just doesnt want to work, we tried everything we could think of. I just dont get why its so broken, it let me and him play 2 full games together last time, then died on us.
Like we got in and played, then it just stopped working out of nowhere

Disable IPv6 in your network adapter properties
fixes the disconnect menu issue, and you dont need a vpn
granted, we only got 1 game in before it bricked again, we're back to the original connection problem

We figured out a way around it, apparently i was never really the problem, it was cj. We’re gonna find a workaround. We found that its easier to use hamachi and have one of us delete the CD key in the registry to play “lan” together, since that was what we were originally trying to do. He is going to try and get access to his router settings so he can enable upnp or port forward. We figured it would be easiest that way. IF he can get access. But for now we just found a workaround, and the vpn was causing that disconnect menu mentioned previously.
Until we get port forwarding I don't think we'll be able to hit crazy 2v2s though
Well with a VPN you don't need port forwarding.

We got 1 game in with ipv 6 disabled then it broke again
if you change anything in VPN setting change it back to default

And we haven't touched any settings but tunneling
We could try with selective tunneling off, but I doubt it would help
We tried most regions, they all had the same disconnect menu outcome for him, and it happened to me aswell. The vpn got us connected, but like no matter what we did, we couldnt get it fully connected at all when we loaded in. But when we disabled vpn, it fixed itself

Bypassed, it fixes then re-breaks itself, we bypassed it by just playing through the lan of the game

Currently solved (worked around). We’re playing via lan and hamachi which works wonders, we were only really planning on coop, and we got that out of the lan. (Were dumb for not trying that first)
