Game Crash

Game crashes whenever I use a custom map of any kind, whether it be R22, Steam, or F05. Mostly does this online, but does it offline too from time to time. Idk why. Tacitus did the 4GB patch as far as I know.

Well crashes can be caused by many things, SOmetimes a clean installation work wich mean you should also delete the install folder and the Maps folder in Appdata
It could also be something with your GPU driver.
You always had this issue? or you recently started playing?

Regarding custom maps, yes, I've always had this issue.

Ok so you have the game from steam and the crashes usually happen during custom maps and is does not matter if its offline or online play.

Some custom maps are bad design and cause issues. have you tried multiple custom maps?
You say R22 and F05 crash as well?

Do you receive any errors messages after crashing?

The 4k add-on.

The rest is only accessible through Command Post

Could you try to do a clean installation of the game, once you removed the game remove the installation folder as well in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath
Do not install any patches or 4K mods and CNC online Tacitus. try a offline game and see if it still crashes.
If not start installing cnc Tacitus and try again.

Crashes happens sometimes in this game but not the amount you are having.

I mean, I can tell ya right now that I'm new to having these additional maps, 4k, and CNC Online Tacitus. It never crashed before.

Well, if you've never crashed before, by following the steps above we can rule out what's causing the problem

Ah, okay. Can't I just uninstall the 4k mod and try it with just Tacitus?

Its up to you, even if you remove it it still leaves the reshade option.

Best is to do a clean install and remove the install folder

Gah. Alright. I'll try a clean install. I didn't notice much of a difference between the default game graphics and the 4k mod anyways

I'm currently playing BG3 while it reinstalls and does other stuff. Don't worry, my time isn't exactly being wasted.

Just make sure you delete the game, than delete the install folder, this is very important because deleting the game on steam does not delete all the files

@gaunt stag are there any options in the 4K installer that can cuase this?
(short story he crash a lot, didn't had this issue before, he use Nvidia 3060)

FUnny thing is, I couldn't even see any options when I got the mod

If not crashing
than install cnc-online Tacitus

Forgot to mention that I also had the Arcade Map Pack.

Not sure if that changes anything.

Currently downloading all 4 R23 map packs

uhm, the 4k mod doesnt crash the game...

if anything it helps reduce the chance of crashing

I made R23 to work with the 4k mod, its ideally how it should be played

it fixes many aspects of the game not in r23

like with player color

I think R23 did something. Uh, for some reason, the bots can make buildings at instant speed and it's ridiculous

They never did this before

If you give 95% handicap you can build instandly within a second. This is in all r23 mappacks.

Between 5 and 90% is money boost for each havester load

It also appears that 95% handicap does nothing BUT speed up their building process. The damage amplification isn't there at all.

So it negates the whole purpose of even doing the handicap in the first place

In arcade mappack it still works for tower defense maps.

This change is implemented for teamgames if 1 player has a lower skill level he or she can get a handicap to compensate

If you have issues beating an AI you can give yourself a handicap
