Yesterday I got a timed out before connecting message. Today's first attempt read "timed out before connection was established", and just now I get this one ..... help?

I got it from Steam. The reason I deleted other posts was I couldn't find the attachment button on 1st one, 2nd one posted image twice. Sorry.

a desktop link appeared that lead me to the EA version where I now can't logon, hence the messages I'm getting.

The Steam version I paid for, the EA one I got probably because I have an EA account from years ago. Very confusing. I also have the C&C version which is another version of hell logging on (which I can't get online either)

Please just uninstall the EA App version by opening the EA App and uninstall the game from there

Then reinstall the Steam version

and then reinstall Tacitus per https://cnc-online.net/en/setup/

I tried your setup BEFORE I installed the EA version. That lead to the Tacitus not letting me logon online, so then I tried the EA setup.

As these version will conflict with each other

so we have to get rid of one and then reinstall the other one to fix the conflict and then reinstall tacitus to get it finally applied correctly

I'll do it, but I don't expect anything different to happen. Gonna be playing AI forever. At least I finally learned how to install new maps. Can't figure out how to do mods yet.

Again, what I'm giving you won't resolve the error per se, but otherwise there will be a version conflict, making it impossible for us to diagnose and fix the issue

My dad and I are trying to play. We get to the ready screen to start playing but says we can not connect to each other. is there some setting that we need to change or what? I miss the old launcher

I hear you. It was so much easier a few years back to play games online. Like Total Annihilation, Dune, Counterstrike, Unreal Tournament, etc. And the games now days aren't as good in my opinion.
