What guide did you follow?
You should follow the following guide: https://cnc-online.net/en/setup/
Does that help you installing Tacitus and logging in online?
I installed tactitus and was able sign in online but now it keeps saying connection failed whenever I tried to join a game with someone. Is there a way to fix that? My wifi is good as well
Six options to fix these issues
Six options for network issues, try from top to bottom, test after each step, don't perform any steps on your own when the step says you shouldn't, don't skip it, but be patient till we get back to you:
- Switch the 6667 port to 16667 in the Tacitus overlay's (Ctrl +T) network tab. Countries like Maleysia, other Asian countries, some ISPs (like the Dutch KPN) and universities might block those.
- Select a different IP-address from the dropdown in the network settings of the in-game options menu. Try all of the options it supplies and try to go into an online game after choosing a different one.
- Enabling UPnP (only if you know how to login to your router, ask me for assistance, don't do it on your own!)
- Port forwarding (only if you know how to login to your router, ask me for assistance, don't do it on your own!)
- Optional (rarely seems to be the cause): Correct Firewall entry (known issue for Steam version at least, ask for assistance, don't do it on your own!)
- VPN (quick and dirty workaround, we recommend the free version of Privado as it is known to work with CnC games, remember to set the in-game IP setting to the one provided by the VPN)
The first one didn’t work, there is only one option in the ip menu and I’m at a university so I don’t have access to a router. How would I correct the firewall?
It says in progress now instead of failing but it still doesn’t work
Can you send a screenshot of it?
Pity, especially at universities, the first option often works
Firewall issue is not the case then if your error changed
I think your only option then is to try a VPN solution, would advise the free version of Privado, which is known to work with CnC games
Then enable the VPN and go to the network tab in the in-game options and select the new IP-address that appeared
That should fix your issue
Please keep me posted on this
I’m going to give it a try. What’s weird is that I was able to play a few games on the weekend at home at uni it doesn’t work at all
GG @umbral herald, you just advanced to level 1!
Stupid policies at universities
Hey it worked thanks
