Has anyone found a solution to this? (kw)

i have ruled out network and firewall, i have a laptop on same network that is able to host games without issue and i can connect to it from my desktop with online, vice versa gives the error for me and anyone trying to connect.

out of frustration i reinstalled my desktop with defender turned off though unattended install file, turned off the firewall and reinstalled the game and tacticus, i reverted it to 1.2 and i still cannot host games, i can join no issue.

the difference between laptop vs pc is it has win 11 23h2 and desktop 24h2, the laptop has the firewall on even, the game is configured the same when i check skudef files.

what am i missing?

It’s the ea version, I live in Sweden but tried the alternate port anyway just to test (in tacticus) no antivirus, living life on the edge :b

I did not test with von but a buddy of mine also on same os version (I suspect the issue is in some ms change) did try with vpn and I couldn’t connect to him and he not to me all resulting in same error

I have 4 firewalls, one has two wan connections and the rest have one (I do some hosting) and I have for example my gaming router isolated on its own vlan and only my gaming pc can access it

Think fiber connection coming in, but instead of going to an isp modem they are plugged into my firewalls

Reinstalling the game after wiping everything

  • Go into the installation folder of the game.
  • Wipe EVERYTHING in it from existence, delete ALL the files thus of the game by hand.
    • Simple uninstall through EA or Steam might not help!
    • No registry cleaner needed.
  • Reinstall the game then through EA or Steam. Or validate/verify installed files.
  • Then boot the game once.

Standard troubleshooting I would do normally:

Five options for network issues, try from top to bottom, test after each step:

  • Select a different IP-address from the dropdown in the network settings of the in-game options menu.
  • Switch the 6667 port to 16667 in the Tacitus overlay. Countries like Maleysia, other Asian countries and universities might block those.
  • Port forwarding (only if you know how to login to your router, ask me for assistance)
  • Correct Firewall entry (known issue for Steam version at least, ask for assistance)
  • VPN (quick and dirty workaround)

I think this may be is a windows version issue. Pro vs Home specifically, and yes that is super strange.

I have this same issue on one computer, while another one of mine can host kw games.
Both run the same game versions and on the same network with the same firewall rules / port forwards etc. The pattern is consistent in my gamerfriendgroup (3home/2pro), the once with home edition windows versions can host, and the once running a pro windows version get the error code 0 when they try to host.

Yeah, it may be a coincidence. But all the usual troubleshooting (☝️) have not given any results. While it may be a correlation and not a causality this is the only pattern I have found.

Also I know I don't have router /VPN issues since my home edition computer can host.

no... I only have one copy of the game, but I do have two computers on the same network.
I only use one of them at a time.

attaching the port forward rule as requested, I'm aware UDP 65535 is missing (router won't allow it), but it still works fine for the home machine (they use the same internal ip) so I don't think that is the issue.
