KW maps created with worldbuilder (1.1.1) are always displayed in the game with missed.... Is that the case with you too? There is also a CTD when the R22j patch is activated. There is no CTD on R20e.

Was the worldbuilder modified?

#

Did you install mods in any way?

remote lichen
#

There are no mods installed, the worldbuilder 1.1.1 is freshly installed. Should I reinstall everything again?

fading hare
#

Does this happen with the Steam release's native vanilla worldbuilder and without applying any patches?

GG @remote lichen, you just advanced to level 1!

fading hare
#

Ok, then it is likely a custom worldbuilder issue, would advice to use the vanilla worldbuilder.

remote lichen
#

Yes, the problem has only existed for a few days

#

I'll try the vanilla worldbuilder right away

#

Unfortunately the same problem with the vanilla worldbuilder

fading hare
remote lichen
#

No, via Steam and Command Post R22j maps and R22j patch

#

I'm reinstalling KW now. I deleted Steam and user folders

To make sure all mods and patches are in the land of the not-so living?

remote lichen
#

The roaming folder is completely deleted. I'll add the map folder again later.

#

Steam folder looks like this.

#

I'm reinstalling KW now. Should I uninstall Tiberium Wars too?

#

And uninstall Command Post?

Command post is uninstalled. But I don't know if there are any hidden folders left

fading hare
#

Install directory got nuked, which is the most important thing

#

have you reinstalled KW?

remote lichen
#

KW is installed, I'm now adding my maps to the maps folder

GG @remote lichen, you just advanced to level 2!

remote lichen
#

oh no, now all maps are “missing”.

fading hare
#

Can anyone reproduce this issue?

remote lichen
#

It seems like every new addition to the map folder gets this problem

fading hare
#

likely stil the maps edited with the patched worldbuilder?

#

or also now with the vanilla worldbuilder?

remote lichen
#

No, not all of them

#

Also the vanilla

fading hare
#

Verify/validate install files please through Steam

remote lichen
#

All maps from my map folder are now affected

#

No errors were found

#

Only the costum maps are affected

#

sorry, I have to work now, I'll get in touch later

fading hare
#

Can anybody reproduce this issue?

remote lichen
#

Maps from map packs and stock maps are not affected for me

remote lichen
#

I have now installed the DVD version. The problem does not occur there

fading hare
#

Thanks for the detailed info

#

Are the R22 maps affected by this issue as well?

remote lichen
#

No the R22j maps work perfectly

#

When I have activated the RJ22j patch, I get a CTD for the custom maps.
The R20e does not cause a CTD
The map packs R22j /R20e both work perfectly

GG @remote lichen, you just advanced to level 3!

fading hare
#

Ok, it is on my known issues to do list-thingy haha, Will look at this today or tomorrow and then add it to the known issues list in full

remote lichen
#

Thank you very much for your help

remote lichen
#

I don't know why, but now the custom maps crash even with R20e activated🤦‍♂️

Reinstalling the game after wiping everything

  • Go into the installation folder of the game.
  • Wipe EVERYTHING in it from existence, delete ALL the files thus of the game by hand.
    • Simple uninstall through EA or Steam might not help!
    • No registry cleaner needed.
  • Reinstall the game then through EA or Steam. Or validate/verify installed files.
  • Then boot the game once.
  • Then after that redownload and reinstall Tacitus.
#

I suspect a downgrading/mod issue here, so better to start fresh

#

Do NOT install ANY mods yet

remote lichen
#

I will test it today

remote lichen
#

Unfortunately this didn’t work either

Can you try something for me?

Check if MapCache.ini still exist in %appdata%\Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath\Maps

If yes, remove it, then load your game into 1.02, the file will be re-created
It seems that 1.03 doesn't refresh nor recreate that file

But i am not sure if this gonna solve your exact problem but it does fix the unability to play skirmish or detect new map placed in that folder

fading hare
#

Theory does sound plausible

remote lichen
#

I deleted the file and the game recreated it, but the problem still exists. How can I go back to version 1.02?

ivory pawn
#

Didn't really follow this but the Missing: is because of the update EA did to patch 1.3 (1.03)
Its a bug, it no longer show the names correctly for maps that are stored in \AppData\Roaming\Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath\Maps It now store the maps in steam folder called Workshop.
You can still play the maps even though it say missing:

fading hare
#

There is also a running theory on maybe mapcache.ini having to be recreated to force the game to fix this, but haven't had time to test that theory

remote lichen
#

Thanks for the info. I also think it's something to do with MapCache.ini and version 1.03. I didn't have this problem with the DVD version and 1.02.

fading hare
#

I'll look into this one of these days

fading hare
#

Still have to look into this haha, lets keep this topic open

fading hare
#

Hope to get to look into this this weekend or early next week

remote lichen
#

Don't stress, thanks for your help👍

fading hare
#

Is gonna be early next week haha

#

But do you have any otherissues or questions I could help with?

remote lichen
#

I have to think about that first. But maybe I'll come up with something.😅

fading hare
#

This is like my only major known issue still open on my todo list. Have been doing a lot of other things in the mean time haha. Hope to tackle this next week.
