#Can't connect to C&C Generals: Zero Hour

Hello,

I've been trying to create a new account tom play C&C Generals: Zero Hour but anytime I click "Create Account," I get the error: "Could not connect to C&C Generals Zero Hour."

I've been trying to fix this for a week now, I've tried using different emails and a different computer but I get the same error on both.

I have GenTools and GenPatcher installed.

I ran Test-NetConnection peerchat.server.cnc-online.net -port 6667 and this was my result:

ComputerName : peerchat.server.cnc-online.net

RemoteAddress : 185.17.144.132

RemotePort : 6667

InterfaceAlias : Ethernet 2

SourceAddress : 192.168.220.34

TcpTestSucceeded : True

My local IP in the game is correct (192.168), so I'm at a loss on what to try next. Any help would be appreciated!

This happens if your ISP is blocking ports you need to play on CNC Online.
You can use VPN to play

Getting the VPN and setting it up:

  1. Go to https://privadovpn.com/
  2. Click that massive "Get PrivadoVPN" button
  3. Select the Free Plan
  4. Enter the E-Mail address you want to use with your account
  5. Click "Create Your Free Account"
  6. Verify your account with the link sent to your email
  7. The website will now display you your password for the love of god save these credentials
  8. Click the "Download for Windows" button beneath your login credentials (in case you cant find it)
  9. Install the program and run the set-up
  10. Now you can choose between taking the tour or just starting the app

Setting the app up correctly:

  1. Select the "Settings" button (bottom left of the window that opened)
  2. Select "Bypass"
  3. Set it up so that your apps that are using the most traffic are excluded from the VPN
  4. Finish the set up of routing to your liking
  5. Exit the settings and start your VPN

What to do in game:

  1. Open "Settings/Options"
  2. Go to "Network"
  3. Change the IP in your game's network settings
  4. Now try to connect to multiplayer

I've done everything here, except when I go to Options -> Network, the only two IP options still don't work and give me the same error. I can't manually change it to anything else.

is my only option now calling my isp to try and unblock the ports I need to play cnc? @dreamy pier

I called and the ports aren't blocked anyway. I used the VPN and it did not work, I get the same error each time. Is this a server side issue with my IP address? @dreamy pier

When using VPN, make sure your in-game IP isn't starting with 192

I feel like I've tried everything when it comes to that, I read a forum w someone having the same problem and it was a multiple IP address situation on the server side. could someone check if that's the case in this situation? I've tried all of your suggestions to no avail

still having the same issue, can't connect or create an account, vpn doesn't work. gentools and genpatcher haven't worked.
