Generals Zero Hour Steam Edition - GenPatcher/GenTool Problems

The day has come, our favorite game has been added to the Steam library.

Problems I encountered:

1. Unable to install GenPatcher latest version 2.06: error E087 - "Please install the game using a legitimate installer from a trusted source."
   My game is installed in this directory - Z:\Steam\steam\steamapps\common\Command & Conquer Generals - Zero Hour.
   I understand that the GenPatcher installer is looking for the game in the standard installation directory.
   I think the developers of the tool should add a function to the installer to select the installation directory of the game and its source files.

2. **GenTool **installation is successful, but when the game starts, the screen is black and only the mouse cursor is visible with sound.

Please help with the problems above. Ready to provide additional information!

OS: Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Update 1: Need to check compatibility with GameRanger, as the the program can not discover the file Generals.exe with the error message "Invalid Section" and with C&C Online as well - Hook of the Game not possible.
Update 2: Game started with GenTool, works good, still problems to establish connection to online games with different tools.
Update 3: Game started with GenTool and via C&C Online, but while giving my credentials, a new error occurred direct after login: "Registry is corrupt and has been altered"

Update 5: 2.07 Beta released - patch installed successfully. Big thanks to developers of the patch.

Gentool isnt optimised for the steam version of the game, we are all trying to solve the problems, so I dont have a straight answer

1. Open Steam
2. Browse local files to find your ZH folder
3. Find generals.exe and make a backup of it just incase
4. Download the ZH104 exe files from the Gentool website, and replace the one in your ZH folder
5. Start game from Steam as normal

@oblique galleon thank you for help! Installation of GenTool was successfully installed. I used the file General.exe from this GeneralsZH104EXE.zip under http://www.gentool.net/download/executables/
GenPather still can not be installed. I don not know, is it necessary to play online...

Game Ranger and CC Online tool can not discover the application to hook.

Can't really help you with GameRanger, I've never used it, also, this is the C&C Online server

It is fine @oblique galleon, I tried also with CCOnline and get the error message that "Generals installation not found"

C&C Online works through Gentool for ZH not the C&C Onlinr launcher

I might just be having a blonde moment, but I got the gentools installed with the exe from the gentools website, it now loads properly, but when I try to "register" an account, I get an error saying it cannot connect to servers.

Now C&C Online is saying "Unable to Launch Zero Hour
ok I completely uninstalled and reinstalling ZH
from start to finish, what do I need to do?

ive tried like 20 fresh installs, different combinations of genpatcher gentools and the exe download, with and without in each combination, nothing works.

They made an announcement this morning stating that everything should be fixed and working now, but obviously that's not true

I was having problems connecting to anything even the radmin vpn between retail and steam glad im not the only one having problems

For me play online still not works, i expect to play after new version of GenPatch with Steam Version Update. Regarding Registry error: have you tried this: #1215654131121786962 message ?
You have to look a part with Registry editing where you have create new entries with keys. Check github link to see the guide.

I keep getting "Unable to connect to other players".. I believe I've done everything. Firewall is offline and I've forwarded the following ports in my router
TCP Port: 6667, 28910, 29900, 29920
UDP Port: 4321, 27900

I'm launching the game through the GenLauncher. I have GenPatcher 2.07Beta and GenTools. I can login in online using my CNC online profile

try again.. sometimes it just doesnt work.. or try it a few times.. or try with a VPN.. it could be that the C&C Online servers are overburdened
