Good day,

I attempted to follow the guide posted around this forum here (https://gist.github.com/Medstar117/c9b17dcd8d8427b7cced25c072bc6f8e) however ran into some hiccups, namely that my steam did not have a compatibilitytools.d directory in either .steam/root/ or .local/share/steam/ . This is unusual, given that I run plenty of other games using proton - so it should be there, unless I am looking in the wrong place

I attempted to add one in manually twice, one attempt for each location specific earlier. This would result in some weird behaviour from steam, namely that a wine desktop window would open and close intermittently - and while I could select the custom proton version, RA3 would not launch and the window would now become permanent. This odd behaviour stops when I remove the compatibilitytools.d directory from steams directories.

Any other suggestions to proceed would be appreciated.

Quick update:

I'm positive the weird behaviour in steam is down to the custom proton folder, it works fine when that folder is not present in compatibilitytools.d

Third update:
Attempting option 2, tried running RA3 with older versions of proton, but it takes a solid 3-4 minutes to actually start the game (Proton 7.0-6) but the game will work

for reference when the game is "booting" it just shows the blank blue of the virtual desktop
