Why is Topgg going with Web3 and DAOs and what is it's opinion of the ethical and environmental factors plaguing it.

Next question:
What's your opinion of companies like AWS and the big major tech companies generally having a very negative view of Web3 due to it's current record with pump and dump schemes and general awful efficiency.

Looking at Eth which for the equivalent of renting a RPI costs over $250/hour for the compute resources.

#

Next question:
why should anyone around the Discord community care about Web3 in general.

If your looking in to web3, please don't use the ETH eco system, use something like binance smart chain or polygon 🙏

Feel free to participate within #general if you wish to talk about it BCBablobbongocatlove

(going to start using another word other than next)
Further more, these theoretical ideas are great and all, but how is that going to be achieved when some of the biggest players in tech aren't going near it and are instead pushing for more and more efficient technology when, lets face it, Web3 is not and doesn't look like it will be for a while/ever.

#

Web3's idea is this trust-less environment / no one monopoly as far as im aware, but how is this going to be standardised? And how does it prevent basically one company from becoming the only major player to begin with? E.g. Binance which basically already has the monopoly (give or take).

#

Do you think Web3 can really ever become a mainstream system for the general public? If so who is going to be providing the safe guards around it that are needed for the general public? If people can accidentally loose $500k in a flash just by fucking up your address in some of these schemes (this is a simplification but you get the vibe) , how is that going to be prevented and more importantly how are things like this, scam protection and fraud protection going to be done?

#

next:
If from what im gathering with DAOs following this chat, DAOs seem to follow the same sort of dependencies as open source, which has unfortunately always been plagued with Leaching, this seems to be a potential issue with DAOs so how does it intend to stop this issue but more importantly how does it intend to have that permanent development rather than hoping that others will devote it's time to it? Coming from a idea based around being Trustless of the open world, this seems to be awfully Trust based.

#

Next:
Why discord? Why do these DAOs use Discord for this system where there are millions of underaged users (which makes the majority of Discord's population tbh) who probably don't know any of the real world implications of the more negative side of these things. How and who is supposed to be safeguard those people from potentially being exposed to a potentially very dark industry / a very exploiting industry?

#

This may be a completely Naive question and I apologies:
The web as we know it right now has two sides, the light and the Dark side. If web3 takes off and becomes mainstream this will also have this same behaviour (some would argue it's already more on the dark side than light) how is that going to work in terms of moderation and prevention against this and protecting against things like Drugs, underage porn, etc... From being shown to the mainstream

How do you see DAOs being incorporated in web2 companies, organizations, and government?

Do you think you would get into crypto/daos today if you didn't get into it at the time you did?

FBAngry I don't appreciate these questions having the other half of their message being skipped, you shouldn't cherry pick parts! 😠

that takes away the actual meaning of the question! 90% of those questions are asking about the ethics not "oh do you think it will increase?" But I wont continue here

We'll try to ask as many as possible, but due to time limitation, there are only so many we can ask. BowDown I hope you understand. The long questions can be difficult to answer and lose a central point especially in a verbal stage. I appreciate your understanding.

This is the one question I dont want to be cut down, you can skip all the others, but this is by far. The biggest issue.

Especially with the current response going on about the "well can youtube take down content that they dont approve of?" comment. Can you actually moderate this area? Or is this going to become a no mans land exploited to distribute this content.

And if you do moderate the content can you compare yourself to be any better than Youtube yourself?
